  1. Road Trip to Detroit to see Teal Bunbury and the USMNT take on Canada in the Gold Cup with your friendly AO Akron and AO Cleveland crew. Possibly making a pit stop in Toledo if we receive enough interest from the area. Need a ticket? Need a ride? All the info and links you need is here --> American Outlaws Akron Or the AO Akron Facebook Event Page to keep up to date. Tickets include the 6pm Panama vs Guadeloupe match. USA vs Canada kicks off at 8pm. If you've never been to a game in person, you owe it to yourself to go.
  2. Just wondered -- is the U-17 WC qualifying over? Yea, its over, well at least for the US. They qualified when they beat El Salvador in a quarterfinal match back in February. Then they continued on to beat Canada in the CONCACAF Final
  3. You can now watch former SoccerRoos who are in the MLS while enjoying the finest pint of Guinness at Kevin O'Bryan's Irish Pub They officially purchased MLS Direct Kick today, so you can watch any MLS match you like. They've also purchased Fox Soccer Channel and GolTV. Its also the new home for the Akron American Outlaws We're halfway to having a neighborhood Soccer Pub in Akron, we just need the fans to show up and request it on the tube.
  4. And Bunbury scored two goals to the chants of "traitor" from the Vancouver fans. However, Sporting KC gave up 3 goals, 2 of them in the 92nd and 93rd minutes (within about 90 seconds of each other) to turn a win into a tie. That was a heck of a comeback by Vancouver. The place went bonkers! KC Fail, but a great match to watch as a neutral though I don't disagree that it was a great comeback by Vancouver and a great match to watch. But, I hated seeing Teal's awesome goals neutralized, especially with the Canadians chanting "traitor". Any Teal goals in KC vs the Whitecaps should be accompanied by "U-S-A! U-S-A!" Rude Reception Doesn't Faze Bunbury I agree, I don't like it either, but visiting Vancouver, it was to be expected. Just wait if ever the USMNT takes on Italy and New Jersey born Giuseppe Rossi. So I know how the Canadians must feel losing an outstanding player. But I do not like when I see NYRB supporters chanting "US Reject" towards Houston Dynamo/USMNT player Brian Ching last Saturday night. Uncalled for and disrespectful towards a player who has done so much for the US squad.

  6. Nagbe got his first action for the Timbers tonight. Came in on the 66th minute in a 1-1 game against Revolution
  7. Five Zips? That's good to hear! Who are we talking about and how did you get this info? This is only a guess on my part, but the Cleveland Internationals roster from last summer may be an indicator of which Zips. I believe that Nanchoff and Ponikvar played for the Internationals last summer. Of course, Nanchoff wouldn't be there this year, but I've forgotten the others...I think there were about 5 or 6 then. I thought I read somewhere that the Internationals sold out to the Akron Summit Assault. Yeah I was thinking the same thing and I looked up the roster last night and saw that Matt Dagilis was also on the squad. I guess we will find out soon enough. Yes, Akron Metro FC (Summit Assault) purchased the Cleveland Internationals. If anyone is ever interested, we usually get Board Members from Akron Metro FC who attend the Akron American Outlaws watch parties for the USA matches. Best way to get all the information you want and ask some questions in person about the club. Next match is Tuesday evening vs Paraguay at the Barley House in the Banquet Room. We'd love to have more people out. This will be the last match until CONCACAF Gold Cup this June and our last watch party at the Barley House, we'll be moving to a new soccer friendly location after this. 8. That was a great watch on Friday, especially Kofi (Right Back) going head-to-head with Steve Zakuani (attacking/left midfield). Zakuani scored his first goal of the season in the 1-1 tie. It was also great to see Chris Korb get his first start for DC United on Saturday (with Perry and 2 others on "international duty"). Unfortunately, Blair Gavin re-injured his hamstring. Game notes (March 25th) - Chivas USA suffered an early loss in the first half, when midfielder Blair Gavin suffered a recurrence of his left hamstring injury and was forced to leave the game. While the Red-and-White were down a man, Rapids midfielder Jamie Smith threaded a ball through the defense to Amarikwa, who dribbled past goalkeeper Zach Thornton and scored into the empty net. - Midfielder Mariano Trujillo came in for Gavin, who will undergo tests in the coming days to determine the severity of his injury. MLS Direct Kick is great Dynamo/Sounders match up was a good one to watch, looked more like a Day-Glo Derby with the colors. Watching Kofi and Zakuani go head to head was fun to watch. It seemed Kofi was a little out of synch with his teammates. I don't have MLS Direct Kick, I watch all my matches on MLS Match Day Live. The quality is pretty good and probably better than ONN. For anyone living in the Akron area. I should have an answer before the end of the week, but we should have an official bar who will be carrying MLS Direct Kick for the rest of the season. I'll post it on here when I get the official word. Should have another great week, I'm looking forward to possibly seeing Teal Bunbury playing Vancouver this Saturday. And we have Valentin and Kitchen playing in the CONCACAF U-20 Championship matches this week and next on ESPN3. And of course the first Spring match vs Maryland.
  9. Was Zip_Me87 the only other boarder to see the Chivas game? While Zemanski did score his first MLS goal -- on a terrible attempt at an offsides trap by the KC defense that backfired -- he was also blamed in part for the first goal of the game. While I did not see it clearly, I think Ben either A) failed to clear a through ball he should have taken, or perhaps passed the ball back to his keeper which was intercepted by the SKC rookie who put it easily in the net. Valentin (who was repeatedly called "Valentine" by the announcer, made some good passes, and also made some errors that the announcers called out and could have cost his team. Also, while I missed a lot of this contest, Blair Gavin was subbed on in the second half, and it looked like he has not had a haircut since his injury last July. Not that there's anything wrong with that -- it was just a bit startling to see his shoulder-length locks after his always being closely shorn in the past. Interesting contrast between the two LA teams at Home (Depot Center): Chivas played in dry conditions before under 10k, while the Galaxy last night drew about 20k in a constant downpour -- by the second half it was like being in a wading pool. The ball just would not roll, especially near the New England goal, which benefitted the road team in the 1-1 draw. Z.I.P....I saw the first SKC goal, and I believe that Ben just didn't clear the ball properly. He kicked it too easy on the ground away from the goal, and it went right to the SKC rookie who kicked it into the goal. As far as Blair Gavin, he seemed to adopt that unkempt hairstyle last season. I don't know how many folks here found it, but Time Warner Cable had a free MLS Direct Kick preview on Saturday. Most of the MLS games were on digital cable channels around 760. I saw much of the Chivas game, as well as the start of the Quakes game and all of the Crew/DC United game. For some reason, the "freeview" cut off part way through some of the games. I had the DVR set for the Quakes, but only got about 10 minutes of the match...that was crap, given that Ampai was subbed into the match in the 81st minute according to the game recap. BTW...Kitchen and Valentin are both with the US U20 team now in Dallas. We won't be seeing them with Chivas and DC United this weekend. Kofi Sarkodie is getting his first start tonight on FoxSoccerChannel in front of a rocking large crowd in Seattle against Zakuani. Should be a good one to watch! I'll be pulling for Houston in this one tonight.
  10. Here is a link to the live show or if you missed it and want to listen to the podcast. Radio show begins at 8pm ET SportsTalk790 - Soccer Matters - Glenn Davis If you remember, Glenn Davis had Coach Porter on maybe two months ago. Glenn Davis is the analyst for Houston Dynamo and has covered World Cup matches in the past.
  11. Good to see Kitchen and Valentin get the first MLS start before they head off to Dallas for the US U-20 camp. I thought Kitchen played well against the Crew, I didn't notice any mistakes although the Crew looked horrible. It could possibly be a long season for Crew fans. And I read ATT will be streaming a game a week for free. Although I haven't been able to find a schedule yet. http://uverseonline.att.net/mls
  12. The match (second leg, I believe) will be at Fernando Bernabeu Estadio in Madrid. Therefore, if attending in person, I strongly recommend not rooting against the Merengues. Unless the lads are wearing body armour (not Underarmour). Haha, I agree, I just really like to see Lyon take down Madrid.
  13. "Tomorrow we will watch Real Madrid vs Lyon in a champions league match so the players will be able to compare first hand." Will they be watching it on television or actually attending the match? If attending, I'm so jealous, cheer on Lyonnais boys! 2nd Leg 1-1 Aggregate
  14. From the press release: "The team's roster will be filled with some of the best collegiate players from Ohio." Hmm I wonder where those players will come from? They can only have a maximum of 5 players per University
  15. Akron Metro FC officially announced today Interview with Head Coach Denzil Antonio
  16. MLS Roommates If anyone follows Heath Pearce on Twitter knows he's a comical guy. Probably the funniest player to follow from USMNT besides Jay Demerit
  17. Enjoy! Perry Kitchen with Jared Montz Soccer Podcast
  18. Its about 30 minute long Podcast. Listen to the audio below the video for the complete conversation with Coach Porter. Coach Porter on Jared Montz Soccer Podcast
  19. Nagbe expected to miss 2-4 weeks to repair sports hernia
  20. Geez, don't be so nice, people are going to think all Zips fans are! But seriously, who would we contact at Akron to make these available? I already am a fully paying member of Zipzone...seems a bit much to buy season tickets when I live in Boston!!! Season tickets are actually quite reasonable. I only got to use mine once last year but I buy them to help support the team. They want to keep these scarves exclusive to their season ticket holders, but as I think has been mentioned before even buying the cheapest ticket to support the ladies ($40) will still net you a scarf. Mildly expensive scarf but dirt cheap support of the teams. Isn't there a different soccer scarf that can be purchased in the team store as well? I'm too close to having graduated to worry about giving back to any kind of school. Student loans are my charity right now :-) I am bidding on that Ebay scarf, however. Ha, ha! Seems like my plan to make a killing is getting started, now that the bidding has begun. Now I should be able to put my other scarf on the site starting at $100.00 and should make double that. And to imagine, people are GIVING away stuff to Texans! For shame. Haha Z.I.P., I was in the giving mood. Akron just won a Championship!
  21. Fantastic story Johnnyzip84! Although I'm still bitter about USA missing opportunities against Ghana the past two World Cups and you had to bring up Kevin-Prince Boateng I had two scarves myself at the beginning of the season, but I had someone I never met before contact me wanting a t-shirt in Texas through the Outlaws. This person was not alumni or ever visited Akron before, just a soccer fan from Texas watching the College Cup. I sent them a little package with t-shirts and scarf for free.
