Is the Barley house usually where the Akron AO chapter watches matches? I don't see an Akron chapter on the website, and I'd be interested in joining for sure Ando, as of right now, the Barley House is where we're hosting our viewing parties. If its a Friday or Saturday evening, we'll be in the Banquet Room of the Barley House. We started up around October and we need to have 25 Paid Members to become an Official Chapter. After Saturday, we're up to 22 Official Members, and once we get to 25, we'll be listed on the American Outlaws Website plus we'll receive other benefits. You can sign up using the The American Outlaws Website and pay by PayPal for $19 http://www.theamericanoutlaws.com/membership (make sure you select your t-shirt size, type in Akron, Ohio as desired Chapter in the box, and let me know when you sign up) If you don't care to use PayPal, you can always pay cash at a viewing party. We have membership kits available. You can contact us and keep updated by sending an email to aoakron@gmail.com or the Facebook Page www.facebook.com/akronoutlaws Coach Porter and some of the Akron American Outlaws The 9th is my birthday and you can bet I wanna spend it watching the national team play Egypt! I thought going to the game would be a good birthday present for myself, but as it turns out, going to Egypt isn't in a college budget. I'm really looking forward to this. Ando you in? And better question, you buying me a drink? Yaznasty, the Akron Outlaws will buy a drink, but we're also looking for 2 more members. ZIP_ME87 signed up yesterday. Two more makes us an official chapter. Help us reach official status this week and I'll buy you a drink Feb. 9th.

Hey thanks to those who showed up at the Barley House. A great turnout although we had some technical difficulties with the feed. We're working on improving the quality if USSF puts us in this situation again. I don't remember his exact words, but Coach Porter said to me Saturday evening. Just wait, we'll see more players from Akron playing with the US Squad, and playing in the future World Cup. You gotta love it! Coach Porter also signed up with the Akron American Outlaws. Next match is February 9th US vs. Egypt. 12:25pm We'll be watching it at the Barley House in the Bar area.

Creation of a Supporters' Group

Yeah I've seen GSH (anyone who hasn't should go watch it immediately, it's awesome) but a hooligan is someone that essentially starts fights with other groups. I don't think we are going for that (unless Can't brings back their soccer program ). But seriously, I like Exchange Street Elite a lot, and my second pick is Parry's Army. I'm a huge fan of it, with the program founder being Stu Parry. I think it makes a bit more "menacing" and also is a good homage to the tradition. Rooligans is my gf's idea for a name. I like it but it would have to be Akron Rooligans or something adding another word to it, it's gotta have at least two words to be a good supporters' group name i think. I should have added a poll to this, maybe i will once someone comes up with a set name involving "rooligans" to put up against the other names. I recommend to never watch Green Street Hooligans 2. Total waste of time, haha. Nothing like the first one. ROOligans is a bit cheesy for me, but whatever it is, I'll be involved. I'm a big fan of paying tribute to the historic past. Parry's Army is my vote. -
Yes, I think it was. Remember, this is UofA Athletics you're talking about. When have they EVER done anything right? Or heck when have they ever shown common sense? I was told by Barley House management, the University were trying to get the City of Akron involved in throwing a parade, followed up with a celebration at the Barley House with videos and recognition of the Team players. I guess that must of fizzled out, although its a bit cold for a parade, but I would of been there.

Crew8 replied to Crew8's topic in Akron Zips NCAA Championship Soccer
It seems to get cut early. I listened to it live last night. Only thing I can say, is maybe try checking later to see if they add the last 10 minutes to the podcast. Its on two different podcasts. Its at the end of the first and added onto the beginning of the latest podcast feed://www.sports790.com/podcast/glenndavis.xml -

A fantastic conversation with Caleb Porter, worth listening Porter talk about the future of soccer. Porter comes in after Hercules Gomez interview in about the 39th minute http://media.ccomrcdn.com/media/station_co..._Davis_Podcasts feed://www.sports790.com/podcast/glenndavis.xml

So I guess it comes down to whether we would be able to gather 25 orders... I'd buy a copy

Caleb is truly a great coach, I'm glad we have him here in Akron. He's not only trying to win championships, he's growing the game of soccer, and growing the talent here in Akron. Does anyone know if he'll be the assistant coach again this year for the US U-18 squad? Here was another good article with Valentin last month http://yanks-abroad.com/get.php?mode=content&id=7201 I'm looking forward to seeing Teal Bunbury playing Jan. 22nd for USA vs. Chile and look forward to more Akron players joining the ranks in the future. If ever anyone is interested in watching USA matches and former Akron standouts, a group of us have been trying to put together a USA supporters group in Akron. We watch all the games at the Barley House with Sound. If we're not in the main bar area, we're in the banquet room(usually on Fri and Sat nights) We have people of all ages, young and old. And we have something for FREE Jan. 22nd http://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=181830911845612

Here is another fantastic interview from former Akron standout Teal Bunbury Shooting it With Teal Bunbury..... Son of Kristi Bunbury That link did not work. Hopefully, this one will do the trick. BTW -- how about that name: The Shin Guardian. Outstanding! One of the trends that needs to be seen by soccer skeptics is the explosion in soccer/football websites over just the past three or four years. It would not surprise me if there are now more websites devoted to the Beautiful Game than there are devoted to the American version of the world's favorite sport. Sorry about that, haha The Shin Guardian is one of my favorite blogs and big supporters of the US National Soccer Supporters The American Outlaws. Here is another article I came across last night with possibly #1 MLS Draft Pick Perry Kitchen Kitchen Leading U-20s Into 2011 If that doesn't work, http://www.yanks-abroad.com/get.php?mode=content&id=7235

7 starters to leave soccer team
Crew8 replied to MaxZIP's topic in Akron Zips NCAA Championship Soccer
Looking forward to seeing out boys in the MLS, along with getting some US Squad experience in the future I hope you are not suggesting something about the sexual preferences of these fine young men. Go easy on him Zipmeister... he's new. OK, I just hope he isn't trying to put the X back in Christmas. Sexual Preference? Nah just looking forward to watching the "fine young men" from Akron on the pitch for the US National Team and performing at the highest level in the future -

You're joking, right? They're geographically the closest professional soccer team to us and as of next year there will be at least four players on the UA roster who the Crew have right of first refusal to sign. Also, the Crew has N-O-T-H-I-N-G to do with Ohio State (and neither do we for the 1,782,954th time). You'd think you'd want the entire team to be drafted by the Crew so that you could watch them in person more often. Whatever, let the ankle-biting continue... Hey, I'd love to see my Crew draft an Akron Zip player, but I doubt it. The top players will not fall to them. But if they happen to draft one, so be it, I'll be supporting him to make the squad.

Memo to Columbus Crew: It is exceedingly difficult for fans of Fall sports in Ohio to get down with Black & Gold. Who did the initial market research anyway? We appreciate you resisting the obvious Scarlett & Gray, but B & G elicits an involuntary gag reflex. Feel free to mix in some Orange or something. Change your colors a bit and I will run to order your gear on Eurosport. Until then I will be sporting a Seattle Sounders #11. It is quite nice. I love the Crew, and I love the Black & Gold. It doesn't matter what color they are if you're a big soccer fan as myself. As of last season, we've been getting larger and larger groups from the Cleveland and Akron areas carpooling down to Columbus and standing up in the Nordecke for 90 minutes. Growing the game of soccer and support is the #1 goal. If you choose to support the Sounders, so be it, but make sure you travel down to Columbus to represent when they come to town. Stop in the HSH Club for a beer on me.
