Brett had big shoes (Mitch Budler) to fill. Brett has been very good this year. Matthew Paiva should be one of the leading candidates for Big East Defensive player of the year. Goals get the attention but I would argue that Matthew Paiva is the team MVP so far this year.

Francisco Tolaba only played 17 minutes but he made a tremendous pass. Remi really used his strength credit to both young men for creating magic

Nice to see the Beacon do an article before the game. The zips need a big crowd on Friday night https://www.beaconjournal.com/story/sports/college/zips/2026/09/24/akron-mens-soccer-georgetown-nationally-ranked-ncaa-teams-robert-morris/91899785007/ "We have done a really good job of getting some key wins.," Embick said. "Obviously, in [the Big East] conference, we didn't start well with only one point [with a 0-0 draw against Butler on Friday, Sept. 18]. Now you gotta face Georgetown. I think Friday night is a huge game for us. We gotta get something out of that. We gotta get momentum in the Big East. Non-conference, we have been excellent. We gotta bring that to conference play. "... We gotta show them [Georgetown] what Akron's about. Give them a nice rude welcoming to town. We can't make it easy on them. That's the [AK-]Rowdies. That's the fans. That's the community. We gotta make this a fortress on Friday."
