  2. I want to wish Alfred Koroma well. It had to be very tough for him to be in the hospital and not to be able to play the game that he loves. I hope that he does very well wherever he ends up.
  3. since there is no recruiting news, I thought I would post this http://www.oregonlive.com/timbers/index.ss...porter_irk.html and I am crying about the basketball zips....why, Alex, why ?
  4. http://www.collegesoccernews.com/index_files/Page4040.htm this has Najem at #19 shows UCLA as having 5 recruits in the top 21
  5. old news....but interesting to see the quotes from the beacon journal article Copley High School senior Riley Grant is staying local for college. Grant has committed to continue his academic and soccer careers at the University of Akron. “Akron is one of the best programs, if not the best program, in the country,” Grant said. “They play attractive soccer that people like to play. I like Jared [Embick], the coach, and the rest of the coaching staff. I also wanted to stay closer to home.” Grant, 18, played this past season with the International Academy in Northeast Ohio. He played the previous three seasons on the varsity soccer team at Copley. Grant is a 6-foot-1 and 160-pound forward. He has a 3.1 grade-point average, and said he is “looking into business, but still undecided” on a major. Colleges such as Cincinnati, Ohio State, High Point, Cleveland State also recruited Grant. “They have a great soccer program at Akron and I am excited to be part of it,” Grant said. “It is a no-brainer to go there.”
  6. only thing that I could find... (it is not much) http://www.football-talents.co.uk/Victor_A...3_7-9687-2.html
  7. In the beacon article last week, Coach Embick had mentioned a brazilian mid fielder who would step into the Wil Trapp position. this is great news
  8. With Dillon Serna signing a home grown contract yesterday, I am afraid to ask.....what is the latest on Bryan Gallego and the Portland Timbers home grown contract?
  9. Hopefully, the young man from Brazil that was mentioned in the Beacon article....can get into school and be a starting midfielder
  10. did he change his commitment from BG? https://twitter.com/SIHSSports/status/208789186227085312

  20. http://www.dispatch.com/content/stories/sp...-with-crew.html the player from Univ. of Louisville certainly is not happy I hope that Chad goes to a team that will give him the playing time that he deserves
  21. wow....thank you for finding this article and posting it....
  22. http://www.collegesoccernews.com/index_files/Page442.htm I am very glad to see David be recognized on the first team. All 3 senior starters on the first 2 teams. Scott, David and Chad all had super 4 year careers.
  23. I think the first week that National letters of intent(NLI) can be signed is Feb. 4 to Feb. 7. Go to the 2nd page of the document below. http://www.ncaa.org/wps/wcm/connect/public...uiting+calendar From the little that I know about recruiting, coaches are not supposed to speak about recruits until the NLI has been signed. With the student-athletes being on twitter and facebook, word gets out quickly these days. Coach Embick has to follow the rules. I am confident that the program is in good hands. I am not 100% convinced DeAndre, Dillon, Bryan and Wil are all gone. I am sure that all 4 of them are having discussions with Coach Embick and Coach Porter. That being said, David Meves graduating leaves a big hole....but Pina has a great reputation and I am sure he will do well. I am praying for good health for Alfred Koroma and I am looking forward to seeing Reinaldo and Alfred doing great things up top. Andrew Souders and Phil Fives and Abdul will all be excellent next year for the zips. Over the last few years, Akron has been fortunate to get excellent transfers like Aodhan and Robbie Derschang. I would think that 2 out of 11 starters next year will be transfers for the 2013 year. Akron will continue to play an attractive, possession style game and Coach Embick will do well in recruiting. Coach Porter left some monster shoes to fill. I want Akron to continue to raise the bar for collegiate soccer but I am confident in Coach Embick. I know we all want the Akron success story to continue....but let's give Coach Embick time to show what he can do.
  24. Creighton was better than a #12 team...they were 8 in final coaches ranking...and connecticut was 7 in final coaches ranking but the seeding committee does not like non major conferences...so CT jumped to 4...and Creighton dropped to 12... Creighton was 11 in RPI...and Louisville was 13...but Louisville was seeded 10 and Creighton was #12 Louisville should not have been seeded higher than Creighton.... I don't classify Creighton as an inferior team. Indiana was awful in the last 3 weeks of the season but has turned it up in the tourney. UNC was not an elite team this year...they had strong defense....but they really struggled to score I am predicting a Maryland vs. Creighton final
  25. hope that Creighton wins it all... connecticut did not deserve a #4 seed
