Wednesday November 4 round of 16 ACC tournament matches number 15 Wake Forest and Boston College were tied 1-1 after 110 minutes Wake scored at 88:33 to tie the game up Wake is the 3 seed in the conference tournament Boston College was 1-6-1 in the league and is the 14 seed Wake won 6-5 on PK’s and will now face NC State in quarterfinals the PK win counts as a tie on Wake’s record. Wake dropped from 19 to 23 in RPI Number 20 Pitt and Syracuse were tied 1-1 after 110 minutes, In RPI, Pitt is number 6 as their strength of schedule is number 1 Pitt was 4 seed in tournament. Syracuse was 1-5-2 in the league and was 13 seed, after 8 rounds of PK’s , Syracuse advanced to the quarters with a 7-6 advantage. Pitt and Syracuse will both show a tie on their record. Syracuse improved from 45 to 43 in RPI.

As always, good analysis here are the maximum point totals for each team that can make big east tournament I am ignoring Georgetown as they have already reached the tournament Creighton can reach 15 with a home win over DePaul Akron can reach 15 with a road win at Marquette UConn can reach 15 with a home win over Georgetown Seton Hall can reach 14 with home win over cellar dweller Villanova Butler only has 2 wins all year they are 2-8-3 and 2-2-2 in the league however, they can reach 14 with a road win at Providence on Tuesday and a home win on Friday over Xavier Marquette can reach 12 with a home win over Akron Xavier can reach 12 with a road win at Butler

Friday October 30 #3 Clemson earned a 2-1 win over number 16 Wake Forest Virginia Tech defeated Syracuse 2-1 Army and Loyola Maryland finished in a 1-1 tie Robert Morris and Cleveland State battled to a 0-0 result number 2 Georgetown won 5-3 over number 9 Creighton

Zips now control their own destiny in the midwest division. With a win at Villanova tomorrow afternoon, they can reach 12 points after 7 games. Creighton now has 12 points after 7 games.... Georgetown defeated Creighton tonight 5-3. Congratulations to Big East regular season champion Georgetown. Georgetown is now 7-0-0 after 7 games of the Big East regular season.

Tuesday October 27 Villanova and St. Joseph’s finished in a 2-2 tie. DePaul earned a 3-1 win over Seton Hall. as mentioned in another topic , St. John’s got a 3-2 win over UConn.

Tuesday night results.......are helping the Zips chances of making the Big East tournament.... St. John's was 1-2-2 before tonight....they played 3-2-0 UConn St. John's wins 3-2........so St. John's is now 2--2-2 (8 points)... UConn is now 3-3-0 (has 9 points after 6 games) UConn's last 2 games are against Xavier and Georgetown....so they are not likely to reach the Big East tournament. Seton Hall was 2-1-2 before tonight...with games remaining against DePaul, Providence and Villanova at 73 minutes, 1-2-2 DePaul....is beating Seton Hall 3-1......so it is likely that Seton Hall is not going to take advantage of their weak schedule.

As @Zips1991 said in another topic, the zips are at more risk of not making the Big East tournament than they are of not making the NCAA tournament. if the zips win their last 2 road games, the zips will make the NCAA tournament and be seeded in the top 16. as far as the Big east tournament, the zips can only get to 15 points Georgetown is the only team certain to get in right now as they have 18 points and still have 2 games left to play. Creighton will win the Midwest division with 18 points if they beat Georgetown and DePaul in their last 2 games. Is it likely that Creighton beats Georgetown? Probably not. But they can still win the Midwest with a tie against Georgetown and a win over DePaul. UConn could finish with 18 points with wins in their last 3 games. Their last 2 games are against Xavier and Georgetown so they have a challenging path to finish with 18 points. As I mentioned in another topic yesterday, Seton Hall has the easiest schedule and they could finish with 17 points. Bottom line, I think that the Zips are in good shape to make Big East tournament if they win their last 2. however, if Georgetown loses their last 2(super unlikely), things could get complicated.

I think that the zips would win the Midwest if Xavier, Akron and Creighton all finish with 15 points tiebreaker Mini-conference head-to-head records among the tied teams (best record gains advantage, worst seeded lowest). If split, reverts to 2-team rules. From my perspective, the zips would be 1-0-1 vs C and X Creighton would be 0-0-2 Xavier would be 0-1-1
