I had to got back to August 2nd....to find this topic.... Zips have added a forward from Atlanta United ....to the class that will start in Fall 2027. This young man will turn 17 in January 2026. I like how he writes....and how appreciative that he is...for those that have helped in his development https://www.instagram.com/p/DRfq03kiQYL/?hl=en&img_index=1 In April 2024, Ivory Covington was called up to the U15YMNT https://www.instagram.com/p/C5zD7sJpmla/?hl=en At the Generation Adidas Cup in April 2024. the top drawer soccer writer was impressed by 9 players Below is what the writer had to say about the newest Zips commit https://www.topdrawersoccer.com/club-soccer-articles/under-the-radar-u15-prospects-at-ga-cup_aid53237 Ivory Covington, Atlanta United – While there’s an argument that Covington’s imminent call-up to the U.S. Under-15 team makes him ineligible for this list. But his performances caught the eye for Atlanta in the 09 age group. A dynamic right winger, he presses well and can finish. His goal against Manchester United helped set the tone for Atlanta’s performance at the tournament.

Just looked at the stats for the St. Louis at Indiana game. Indiana led 8-0 in corner kicks. Indiana led 16-3 in shots. 3 to 1 in shots on goal. St. Louis was totally dominated but took advantage of their only chance. Zips have been focused all year on taking one game at a time. Duke tied Georgetown during the season. Any team that can hang with Georgetown is an excellent soccer team. Duke at Akron will be 2 very good soccer teams doing battle on Sunday.

2 goals from the weekend...that others might enjoy seeing

and the even neater part...is that their women's soccer team also lost on PK's this afternoon in Charlottesville....so 2 PK losses on one day on their home field for the uppity Hoo's. Congratulations to former Zip Seth Wilson (he was the GK today for UNC-Greensboro).

Southern Conference...looking strong...with their two teams Furman and UNC-Greensboro in the final 16..... Big East is the lone big conference where their seeded teams have met expectations. ACC tournament finalists (2 Virginia and 5 SMU ) both gone the Big Ten (or Little Ten ??)....both tournament finalists Michigan and UCLA dumped in round of 64....and the 6 seed Indiana (the most over seeded team in the tourney) goes belly up in their first game By my count ...so far..... Conferences in sweet 16 Big East 3 7 seed Georgetown ; 13 seed UConn ; 14 seed Akron Atlantic 10 1 unseeded St. Louis American East 1 11 seed Bryant Big Ten 2 4 seed Maryland ; unseeded Washington ACC 2 15 seed NC State ; unseeded Duke Coastal Athletic 1 unseeded Hofstra Southern Conference 2 16 seed Furman ; unseeded UNC Greensboro 12 spots earned 8 remaining teams High Point from the Big South looking good against West Virginia from the Sun Belt Summit league could get 2 teams in sweet 16....Denver or Kansas City West Coast Conference could get 2 teams...Portland or San Diego Grand Canyon from the WAC...trying to pull an upset Stanford from the ACC is trying to give the ACC 3 teams

Another view of the goal..... while we all celebrate Matthew Paiva for the goal, let's not forget that Remi hustled his backside off to earn a corner kick for the zips. Remi always gives great effort. -

I think that it is probably appropriate to have Joao Moutinho on the 2026 list. He is with Lech Poznan in the top tier league in Poland. From what I can tell, their season spans from July 2025 to May 2026. Lech Poznań, is a Polish professional football club based in Poznań and currently competing in the Ekstraklasa, the nation's highest division. https://www.lechpoznan.pl/en/schedule--results,47.html https://www.lechpoznan.pl/first-team,11,joao-moutinho,2931,zawodnik.html

For regular season games, yes for NCAA tournament, NCAA has different rules -
Beto Ydrach and his Pittsburgh Riverhounds teammates will play for the USL championship on Saturday afternoon on network TV. Beto has had a tremendous rookie year. I believe that he has started every game ...except for when he was playing for the Puerto Rico national team. I believe that he is 3rd in minutes played on the team. He leads their center backs in a key category. https://www.uslchampionship.com/news_article/show/1350266 I am only allowed to post a few key tidbits from the article. Please click on the article above. At one point, there are 3 full paragraphs about the new kid, Beto Ydrach. Congratulations, Beto on an incredible rookie year. I will be watching CBS tomorrow and hope that Beto can lead the hounds to the league title excerpts from article: (Beto is also quoted at the beginning of the article and is also quoted about his friendships on the team - click the link!!!...go, Hounds, go Beto !!! Ydrach, meanwhile, has been one of the league’s rookie breakouts and a staple in the lineup. At 24-years-old, the former University of Akron defender is a unique first-year pro, with the experience of having made his debut and earned regular minutes for the Puerto Rico National Team in Concacaf competition while competing collegiately for the Zips and previously at the University of Central Florida. Ydrach may be the rookie in the squad, but his +5.73 Goals Added mark leads the club’s center back group.

Big Ten Tournament Champ UCLA goes down to automatic conference winner.....Grand Canyon Big Ten Tournament runner up Michigan.......goes down to the highest RPI non automatic conference winner Pathetic results for the Big Ten. Yet, Indiana (5-5 in that mediocre league).....gets the overall #6 seed in the tournament...... The mighty ACC is also not shining..... Number 37 RPI Syracuse controversially got a home game against number 27 RPI Hofstra Hofstra smoked the ACC team.....2-0 Western Michigan with the biggest upset of the day.... Western Michigan came into their conferencee tournament with a 5-9-3 record.... they won 2 games in regulation and one on PK's....in conf. tourney 7-9-4......coming into the NCAA's Mighty Clemson was 29 in RPI The NCAA committee gave Clemson a super favorable draw...... play 7-9-4 Western Michigan in first round..... Winner faces the highest seeded team....Number 16 Furman by the placement in the draw....NCAA committee said that Clemson was one of the 4 best non seeded teams Western Michigan beats the over rated ACC team 1-0 Number 50 RPI North Florida is about ready to go to 2nd overtime with #28 RPI North Carolina Go, North Florida !!!!
