Some random thoughts on Tressel: 1) The potential ban on coaching certainly can't be ignored. 2) Most people acknowledge that he, at the vary least, bent the rules throughout his career, going back to the YSU days (Ray Isaac, etc). Could he have had the success at YSU with every last move being monitored by everyone and their brothers, as would definitely be the case were UA to be able to talk him into giving it a go here? 3) This had never occurred to me before, but do you realise that when Winters was playing RB (1976-1979), Tressel (1975-1977) was GA coach of WRs, QBs, and RBs for part of that time. I'm curious as to whether they have any kind of relationship or not. 4) Making the huge assumption that it could be even possible, I'm still torn on whether I'd want UA to go this route or not. There was a time when I would have been totally against it. I guess I'd want to see the plan (staff, contracts, etc) before I'd decide for myself.

Irrespective of the job situation, I certainly empathize with Rob as he grieves the loss of his mother. It highlights the sacrifices these guys make for the career they’ve chosen. As I listened to Zips Live this past week, Rob mentioned that the team would be having Thanksgiving dinner together in Kalamazoo. He added that, while the season has certainly not gone as he had hoped, there are still many things for which the coaches and players may still be thankful. Now hearing of his mother’s passing, I have that much more respect for what he said on Monday. I extend my thoughts and prayers to him and his family.

While I agree this notion is worthy of serious discussion, if I already had concluded that sports are over emphasized, I'm not sure I'd be spending this much time on a fan message board voicing said opinion. Just sayin' Fair point. I was one of the few who attended the games when we were D2. I even dragged friends and family. I will attend the Mount Union game this weekend. I assume it will be sold out or close to it. My point is...sports can be followed avidly by its students and fans without being big time or "over emphasized". Truthfully...football is the real problem. Money corrupts. I hear what you're saying, and it's one of the reasons why I enjoy "MAC level" football. I just prefer for my team to be a little more competitive at it!

Let's hope this story is true. I've always listened to it "live" and wasn't aware that 1350 ever had the shows archived.

1350 changed their page recently so that you must (I think) use iheartradio to "listen live". At least, that's what I had to do last night. BTW, thanks for putting the FB page together, regardless of how this turns out.

id say yes for 1 year. if he mucks up the next hire, he better be on the way out the door too But WOULD we let him make the hire without PLENTY of hand holding along the way?

I have to say that I certainly didn't detect any notion of this while listening to Zips Live last night. That doesn't really mean much, I know. Of course, he might not have known at that time (or now for that matter). I think I'm going to do my best to listen to skip and dismiss this. I just can't get my hopes up yet at this point.
