  1. The ESPN ticker confirms that Cristobal turned down Rutgers, with asst coach Flood now taking over at Piscataway.
  2. He had some more trouble with that tonight. Tonight's show wasn't bad. Brian Walsh did a fine job. The 3-pt shooting clinic was a little corny though.
  3. Football Scoop is saying Cristobal told his FIU players that he's staying with them. They (Football Scoop) have been pretty good in their predictions this off season.
  4. Is the Crystal Ball saying Mario Cristobal to Rutgers? I certainly wouldn't mind playing the Panthers minus Hilton, their QB and their HC. Plus, maybe Coach Bowden can swoop up a few FIU commits as a result?
  5. Harding is an intriguing prospect. Perhaps the log jam at QB gets a little bigger. I guess I'd rather have 9 QBs than 9 TEs
  6. Walk on DE Paul Skolmutch is awarded a scholarship by Coach Bowden for his SR year. He has yet to see the field in his career at UA, so this is an interesting move.
  7. Thanks NZF! The majority of us get it.
  8. Beat Kentucky and Toledo (among other FBS schools) for him! Maybe that will keep a few whiners quiet for a few seconds?
  9. ESPN Link ESPN Profile
  10. I thought the same thing. In the end, it just matters if the Zips win. OU barely escaped BSU in Athens today. Nobody will care, come MAC tournament time, about margin of victory of games played during the regular season.
  11. Article from the CMU view point They've been struggling defensively, so Ada_Zip may be onto something with his Harney prediction. I'll go Zips 82 Chipps 71
  12. I was told they were trying to get them in the mail by today. I believe on-line purchasing was also supposed to be available today.
  13. Are you referring to Tyrell Goodman?
  14. Article that mentions Rawlins It seems like it will be pretty hard to snag him away from Pitt.
  15. I thought that was a very strange way of putting it, too! BTW, the trickle down effects of this move could influence the 2012 Zip season. But would a coach allegedly turn down Pitt and say yes to Rutgers? Edit: The link seems to be a little flaky. If it's not working for you, the gist of the article is that FIU’s Mario Cristobal, who is under the Schiano coaching tree, is speculated to be a candidate for the Rutgers job. If you do get the link to work for you, there is a most egregious error toward the bottom of the page!
  16. That's good to hear. I said a while back that I thought he could develop into a linemen at some point. He's got those proverbial "tree trunks" for legs. If he's not fast enough for LB, he my even be able to help out at DE.
  17. I went with 3-4, although I believe Coach Bowden and staff could very well win 1 or 2 more games than that. Morgan St and UMass both should be wins. I look at Buffalo, Miami, and Can't as definite possibilities. Wins over either FIU or UCF would be pleasant surprises, especially so early in the Bowden Era. As it stands now, the rest of the schedule looks to be daunting and I would not EXPECT a win out of any of those games. Of course, if the Zips knock off either UCF or FIU then all bets are off. Realistically I am happy with 3 or 4 wins, but that is also under the assumption that most of the losses will be reasonably competitive. On a related note, I am really fascinated with how much different this team winds up performing on the field as opposed to last year. Don’t get me wrong, I want as strong of a recruiting class as we can land considering the circumstances. But part of me wants to witness a pseudo scientific experiment where only the coaches and not the players are changed from last year. I think we may have a rare opportunity to see just how much coaching influences game performance, both individually and collectively.
  18. Thanks for the information! Like fans of all 120 FBS teams in the country, I'm always hoping for UA to land a talented D-linemen. I have no doubt Coach Bowden and staff will get the most out of the 2012 roster, regardless of who recruited them to UA
  19. Pssst. Any chance this guy will be one of them?
  20. Here is a Muncie Star Press article on the current gap between Akron and Ball St.
  21. I have good news for Zipgrad01 and bad news for Zach. The figures in parentheses indicate that this PORTION of the total cost will go toward the Z-Fund. Thus, priority reserved seating (on the West/Press Box side) is only slightly more expensive ($250 versus $235) than last year. I'm really glad they created a priority reserve section on the East side (lower cost justified by the sun, being on the away side etc.), since it always seemed goofy that you could get a GA ticket and sit on the 50 yard line over there. Parking in a preferred lot may be more of an issue. We'll have to stay tuned on that.
  22. I believe the overall series with Murray State is tied up at 8-8. Let's do some bracket-busting and tie-breaking all at the same time!
  23. How about "Pops"?
