  1. Since WVU's HC Dana Holgorsen came from Oklahoma St, I figured I'd just tag my WVU comments here. Watching the little Mountaineer Austin (#1) putting on a show, I have a prediction for 2012. Assuming he's on the team next year (and I have no reason to assume otherwise, but you never know with coaching changes), I believe Tyler Williams will absolutely blossom under the type of offense Terry Bowden is expected to run.
  2. Sounds likely to me, especially after seeing his Scout profile.
  3. He's from the same JUCO as AJ Price. He's small for a DE, but looks to be pretty quick.
  4. Some people who cover FAU are already second guessing their AD
  5. I believe you have the right attitude. I'll bet the coaches aren't that disappointed! Looking at the entire schedule, a couple of things come to mind: Home Central Florida Morgan State Buffalo Miami UMass Northern Illinois Away Florida International Tennessee Can't State Temple Ohio Toledo 1) We should win at least 2-3 home games. 2) The road is TOUGH. Might need to bring home that Wagon Wheel for more than one reason.
  6. Sweet! Keep 'em coming!
  7. ABJ article NIU and Toledo......no favors there!
  8. K.E.N.T.'s opponents have also been named. Come on GoZips.com!!!
  9. Temple's opponents have also been announced. I wonder if all conference teams will have them announced soon? I agree with xu9697. I'd rather play UMass than BG right now.
  10. MAC Web Site story on realignment
  11. Fine paid, crisis averted! Darn, I was hoping he'd parlay the court appearance into a recruiting trip! With apologies to Bon Jovi:
  12. When Frenchy was reporting the hire on WNIR this morning, he mentioned that Coach Amato is still in great shape (and I'm sure Steve's aware of his bout with cancer). I think that's a good sign.
  13. Thanks for the warning! I had wondered how that would be handled when I noticed how often the show is "re-aired".
  14. I recall a call-in TV show with Faust and Joe Dunn. Is this the same show? I remember calling in one week after K.E.N.T. had upset the Zips in Dix Stadium by loading up the box against the "run & pitch" with the Zips stubbornly sticking to the run (Weems, Gouch & Co.). I asked him if he had second thoughts about not throwing a little more to soften up the defense and, to his credit, he said he actually did have those second thoughts. BTW, I NOW have KD's show scheduled to be recorded every week from now on.
  15. Or Sammy Hagar's amusing anthem:
  16. Arrest warrants issued for failure to appear in court. Looks like he may have pissed off a few folks down in Alabama. Hopefully this will be taken care of soon.
  17. Outstanding!!! What a GREAT hire!!! Just imagine what he can do with a few non-qualifiers sprinkled into the mix I sure hope he doesn't bring this up --> Welcome, Chuck!!! Go Zips!!!!
  18. Additonal confirmation from The Topeka Capital-Journal.
  19. I think you're right, B&G. That play might have been in the 1st half. The Zips really jumped all over the Hokies at the beginning.
  20. I edited my previous post to add the box score from the game. It does indicate 14 seconds on the clock when we scored the TD, so maybe the ending was even crazier than I first recalled? Skip-zip where are you????
  21. Ah, perhaps my favorite Zips football memory outside, of course, of the MAC Championship game -vs- Northrn Illinois. I don't even remember the name of 14th-ranked Virginia Tech's All-American DE that JT completely out-classed. I also remember the crowd erupting when Willie Spencer threw a last-minute TD to bring the Zips to within 10 (IIRC). Even though the Zips still had no chance of actually winning the game, the pride & tangible sense of community in the Rubber Bowl that night was epic. That was a great football game. Has a Zip defense EVER played better? I believe the Va Tech DE was Cornell Brown. B&G, my memory is that we were down by around ten (more than one score) when Spencer hit the TD pass on the very last play of the game. I think we might have even went for two and converted (even though there was no time for any onside kick), making the final deficit 2 points? EDIT: We were both wrong apparently! Spencer must have been injured/benched, because the box score shows Mike Junko as having completed the TD on the last play of the game. Plus, the Zips only converted the extra point (no 2 point attempt like I first thought). What's the first thing to go?
  22. +1 Look at it this way. 8-6 is absolutely as bad as it could have been when you consider the Zips have ZERO close wins but several close losses.
  23. The Pokes are misfiring tonight and Stanford looks to be well prepared. I have seen plenty of OSU this year and they sure are fun to watch though. Thanks for the info and the heads up!
  24. Well this comes from a person who thinks U@B is a "scrub team"
  25. It sure is a good thing we didn't play "McNees" State over the last few years
