  1. Oh well, the MAC East is far too good this year to expect to stay undefeated for long. At least we didn't completely fall apart like K.E.N.T. in the 2nd half against OU. Time to get ready for Saturday.
  2. If he sticks his recent upgrading takes the Zips out of the Scout.com MAC recruiting basement, now ahead of OU!
  3. I wonder if a student can opt to "test out" of it? The line has inched up to U@B -2.5 points.
  4. I'll agree their 3-pt shots are similar. But I see Deji as a finisher around the rim in a way that Dru could never have dreamed. Their verticals are miles apart.
  5. True Blue looks to have the crowd rocking under "black out" conditions.
  6. And Rowdy nails the line at Buffalo by 2. That seems pretty fair, based on history and what we've seen so far this year. Should be a tough game as usual up there. Gee, you'd think the summer tour of Canada would have the Zips well prepared for this Akron 68 Buffalo 66
  7. We'll see a familiar face on the sidelines when the Zips face NIU in 2012.
  8. While not the mid-major top 25, THIS is an ESPN blogger's mid-major top 15. There are some additional mentions about the Zips throughout.
  9. Yahoo blog that states it was Rick McFadden's idea to add silver to the unis. They've grown on me at this point.
  10. I'd go so far as to say it's been the most obvious weakness of the team for the last THREE years. I'm sure Coach Bowden didn't need to look at much film to draw the same conclusion. Couple that with small returning numbers at OL and it makes perfect sense that he'd go hard and heavy after both long-term (HS) and short-term (JC) prospects here.
  11. Nitro gives prediction on WVU-Marshall clash (Capital Classic) for local WVa paper. Shouldn't the WVa "Capital Classic" be played in Akron?
  12. The Dukes lost to Valpo by 16 and Western Michigan by 14. Both have to be pretty close to the "bad loss neighborhood". If we don't consider margin of victory, then the MTSU loss is unquestionably "off the board". But even under those rules, I can't see much difference between Duquesne and Valpo (especially given the head-to-head pounding administered by the Crusaders). My conclusion? This is an odd, perhaps not well investigated, comment from the ESPN writer. I just don't see a solitary loss that stands out as being far more harmful than the others (to prestige, RPI etc.).
  13. Rivals Profile He also had an offer from Testicle Tech
  14. I don’t think it’s obvious at all what our “one bad loss” would be. We’re focusing on Valpo and Duquesne, games that I agree we probably should have won (hard to see us losing to either in our current form). But those games were at least competitive. And it’s pretty hard to differentiate between them. Duquesne is in a better conference, but we played them at a neutral site (as opposed to playing AT Valpo). I’m not saying I would agree with the following, but it’s not out of the question that the writer might be thinking of the blowout loss at Middle Tennessee as the “one bad loss”. Middle has a much better resume than either Valpo or Duquesne, but the game was a rout.
  15. I know Draper visited Louisville this past weekend.
  16. +1 With regards to kegs, I think it goes without saying that you'd have to be a lot more careful. I think I actually prefer the interesting assortment of bottled brew we go through in a Lot 9 season. It's pretty cool to be talking about tailgating on January 15!
  17. He IS huge. It'll be interesting to see what a redshirt year of weight training and conditioning will do to him. You have to think former Rough Rider Trent Boykin may have had a hand in this.
  18. More good stuff from Marla Ridenour of the ABJ on Coach Bowden's journey.
  19. Here is an excellent article by the Beacon's Marla Ridenour on Coach Bowden's efforts to right the wrongs of the previous staff with regards to recruiting Stark, Summit, Portage & Medina counties.
  20. Was forced to watch this one on ESPNU due to a scheduling conflict. I think, on balance, we may have had a few more calls go our way than OU, but I still believe the deserving team won. Both teams seemed a bit tight, leading to numerous missed bunnies on both ends. I do think OU's team defense is improved and that Ivo Baltic has stepped his game up considerably. Cooper was dishing it early but his shot was off, assisted greatly by the defense of Abreu and Q. I really liked KD switching these two opposite Cooper. I also thought Alex was well prepared from a scouting standpoint. Numerous times, when DJ dribbled to the right of the key, AA shaded to the opposite wing and correctly anticipated the pass back to this side. Both teams were well prepared defensively for that matter. Tree was huge in crunch time as he has firmly established himself as the team's most reliable rebounder by a wide margin. Zeke's maturation at the line was equally huge. The big guy has me confident when he steps up there now. Count me in the camp that thinks this team is NOT the same old (not necessarily bad) Zips. This team can still improve quite a bit. When have we been 3-0 in MAC play when you could say that?
  21. This looks to be the start of a nice article about the FSU connections/similarities. We'll have to check back to see whether they've added additional material as they currently mention towards the bottom of the page. Some might not recall how insignificant Florida State was in the world of college football prior to the arrival of Coach Bobby Bowden from WVU. Sure it's probably a dream to imagine THAT kind of turnaround here, but I'll settle for 1/4 of it Edit: Never mind the link, I didn't realize it requires payment. Below is the gist of it:
  22. Great news! You'll enjoy yourself; that much I guarantee!
  23. Any resemblance, 'Meister?
  24. I'll give an opinion. I liked it much better when the recruiting forums showed up on the Main Forums Page.
