Done. FB as well. Hopefully the University will get a campaign going -- they LOVE the social media stuff

Its no secret that the Offensive Line was thought to be the strongest segment for the team going into the season -- and they have proven to be just that. Those guys are as tough and hard working group as you'll find anywhere. They may not be the biggest, may not be the strongest -- but they've got the most heart and desire. I'll take that any day. Way to go, O-Line!!!

Love both of those!

Suel added to Biletnikoff Award Watch List!
NewZipsFan replied to NewZipsFan's topic in Akron Zips Football
Like I said -- he WAS the WR Coach for the award's namesake I had forgotten that he was the WR coach at FSU before going to WVU as the OC and then the HC. Little known fact -- y'all saw "We Are Marshall", I'm sure.. The scene where Jack Lengyel and Red Dawson go to WVU to ask to watch their film - and Coach Bowden gives them "carte blanche" to the film room, etc.. (very touching scene).. What most people don't know - is that Red Dawson played TE at FSU while Coach Bowden was there.. -

WE CANNOT ALLOW THIS TO HAPPEN ON OUR FIELD!

Let's see.... we need to win 5 out of our last 7 games to be Bowl Eligible... "Beat Bowling Green! Get the ball rolling to go bowling!" Yes - I know its a bit wordy - and not quite there... but you get the idea... "The road to go bowling begins by beating Bowling!" "Our Stein is better than your Stein!" (with a pic of a beer stein?) "Beat the Falcons on the way to Ford Field!" (Yes, I know -- but I am the self-appointed "board optimist") Feel free to hack them up and make one perfect

Been trying to find the BG message board(s) - and found one (doesn't seem to be very much traffic in there... the big thread is a kind of running joke about Coach Bowden.. very original).. Anyway --- with their "big win" against Rhode Island, the school now has 499 wins in football. 500 ain't happening here: Just Say NO to BG win 500

Yes - great pics! Roo Walk is scheduled again for this Saturday - 11:45am - same place. Let's have twice the turnout this weekend as last Saturday.. It's already building -- let's keep it going At stadiums all across the country - the fans will "travel" to wherever the team is entering. I can't imagine complaining that someone has to walk a few blocks to greet the players getting off their buses. I used to have to walk almost a mile to get from our tailgate to the pre-game walk...and then back to the tailgate..(uphill, in the snow, both ways... blah blah blah ) Roo Walk!

Let's not forget -- he played ONE YEAR of high school football! He is a true freshman! I know that a message board is the place to vent frustrations and arm-chair QB, but a little perspective sometimes is a very good thing. Let's not also forget - that players' families (and hopefully not players themselves) read this board. I'm not saying that the comment about Pratt was that awful, but I see so many positives about him - knowing how raw he is - that I couldn't even imagine criticizing anything about his playing at this juncture.

It is my understanding that IMG handles season ticket sales, and also sponsorships for TV/Radio shows and in-game promotions, etc. They do not drive the marketing for the Athletic Department or the University. They are a support system for our marketing department.

George Thomas Article - "...Penalties play part"
NewZipsFan replied to NewZipsFan's topic in Akron Zips Football
But the interference was the ACT OF PUSHING PRATT OUT OF BOUNDS.... -
Can you summarize?

No one has brought this point up (that I have seen) yet.... This game will pit the "left-footed kicking Stein brothers" against each other. Robert's older brother, is a 5th year senior at BG - and has started most of their games this season. Clearly, our Stein has had the much better season - especially as of the last couple of games - with Robert being named MAC East Special Teams Player of the Week after his 4-4 performance at Tennessee. I believe their younger brother is also a left-footed kicker for their high school... For the Stein family's sake -- I certainly hope we only see PATs and not FG attempts! I couldn't imagine how much anxiety they must feel..

What was also very disconcerting was the fact that the line judge on Miami's sideline was the one throwing those flags.. Usually, when there is a personal foul - you see laundry all over the field (whether its the fact that the officials ALL actually see the penalty - or that they are "covering" each other - I don't know) ... but we saw ONE flag on each of those personal fouls - and I believe they were all from the same official. -

So what are you disagreeing with?? Sounds like you agree? -
Imani wears #12 and Quentin wears #32 -- from where the announcers have to broadcast the game from (WAYYYY up top at Rocky Top) - I can understand why it may be difficulty to see the #'s correctly....

If that's true -- that's a shame. Successful marketing/advertising begins with BRANDING. When there are too many logos, slogans, etc. it just confuses the consumer and does not "stick". Why can McDonalds, Coke, Apple, etc. do 10 second advertising or print ads/billboards with just their logo?? Because everyone knows what/who they are.

Why aren't we talking about the BLOWN pass interference call on Pratt??? They call interference -- BECAUSE the defender pushed him out of bounds with the ball in the air - then reversed the call by saying that "the receiver went out of bounds"... ??? Say WHAT???? -
Very good point. What was interesting to me - was in Coach Bowden's post game PC, he said that in practice, our Offense can barely ever get open against our Defense... Guarantee things will look a whole lot different this weekend.
-
Obviously - they used the time outs because they felt they needed to. I'll take a time out when needed - over a defense not set or sure of what coverage they're supposed to be in - any day. I'm not going to criticize anything from Saturday - except possibly my own unrealistic expectations. We cannot forget where this same team has been over the past few years - -- then taking FIU to overtime, tied with Tennessee at the half - and actually having the possibility of winning the game into the 4th quarter -- these are monumental steps forward. I guarantee that no one has scrutinized every single play of Saturday's game more than our coaches. I cannot even begin to imagine how they felt yesterday watching the film. But I would also bet that they have put it behind them -- are getting the team refocused and ready for a win on Saturday against BG.

Couldn't agree with you more. I have been in some of the country's greatest college football stadiums -- and to me, the #1 most impressive "feature" is how involved the crowd is in the game. The atmosphere in Info should be loud and intimidating - maybe even before the gates open to the crowd. The Dave Matthews music being played as the players started coming out for pre-game was, well, Dave Matthews music I personally like DMB, but isn't my first choice to listen to when standing outside waiting to come into a football game. The people in Knoxville had a very interesting point -- (they were all incredibly nice and hospitable - from 2 hours before the game all the way until we saw the players/coaches get on the buses to leave) - they said we needed an identity - something that would make other teams/fans remember us... Of course - they pointed to their own, "Rocky Top" (which I heard in my sleep for about 3 days after the game). I was thinking about that - but also about how many teams have a "greeting" or "rallying cry" when they see other fans.. i.e. "Roll Tide", "Hook 'em Horns", "Guns Up", "It's all about the U", "War Eagle" etc... I guess when you become a top program, even just "Go Gators", "Go Dawgs" or "Go 'Noles" become adequate. I like "Fear the Roo" -- but I guess until people actually start "Fearing" the Roo - it won't resonate... Sorry for the rambling thoughts
