  1. Wasted another Saturday afternoon watching a lousy football team, sitting in the rain, watching Tettleton and company having there way with us. I was gone by half time. Are we ever going to get to that magical second win? Seemed like the team is quitting on the season. Winning is a habit, unfortunately so is losing. I believe Vince Lombardi said that. Tough to change a losing culture. I feel sorry for all the fans who have stuck this out the last few years. Maybe someday in our lifetimes things will change.
  2. The MAC and the Horizon Conference are both considered mid majors. There are just a few mid major programs that fill there arenas on a consistent basis.
  3. It would just be nice to get that 2nd win and maybe win a away game someday in my lifetime. Is that asking to much? Coach Dennison, Faust, Owens, and Brookhart all had some decent seasons at least mediocre. I played for Coach D. We finished 8-3 in 1985, with a playoff appearance and ranked 10th in the nation in Div.1-AA. What I don't understand, at Div.1-AA we regularly beat MAC teams back in the day at the old Rubber Bowl. Not sure what happened to this program since the 2005 MAC Championship.
  4. 2010- 1-11 2011- 1-11 2012- 1-11 2013- 1-4 haven't won a away game since 2008 C'MON MAN!
  5. I can see improvement too. The bottom line is the team has to start winning games. No one cares about close games or moral victories. It is time to start WINNING GAMES!!!
  6. Hope the hard work will translate into wins.
  7. Its nice to see that the Rubber Bowl will be brought back to life. It was always a fun place to play and watch a game.
  8. We are not going back to 1-AA. Remember 2005, MCC. We can get there again. Give this new staff a chance to turn things around. Be patient.
  9. Successful MAC coaches rarely stick around. It is a stepping stone conference for coaches looking for the bigger, better paying job. These coaches are full of it, about having loyalty they preach to their kids. As soon as they get that "BIG TIME" "BIG PAY CHECK" $$$, job, there gone!
  10. I know i am stating the obvious, but we need players. Watching the team these last three years, we really lack size, talent, and speed. Our interior lines get knocked off the ball, and teams run on us at will. Most of the MAC teams noticibly have better talent than us. It is simple, coaches need to recruit size and speed, and build depth.
  11. Hang in there guys. This experience builds character. True Zip fans will be there no matter what. We will have our day again. Just going through a valley of Zip football fan life right now.
  12. LA zip fan, Zips game never on TV? I watch 2 or 3 a season. Toledo-Akron will be on ESPN2. Get your facts straight. STO televises a couple zip games a year. Its easy to pile on right now. We need to be patient and no we are not going back to 1-AA. We have competed and won the MAC in the near past, be patient, we will get there again.
  13. Anybody remember those fun Charlie Frye years, and the MAC CHAMPIONSHIP YEAR OF 2005! Motor City Bowl. We can get there again. TB needs to build this program from the rock bottom-up. WE NEED PLAYERS! TB needs time to build this thing. Forget about this year, its over. Coaches need to get out there and recruit there butts off. Facility's are best in the MAC, there is no reason why, we can't attract quality talent. If we can endure this, it will be sweet when things get turned around. Keep the Faith, it will get better.
  14. Bottom line we are still 1-3. We need a few more wins to get this program over the hump. It is nice to see us being competitve, but moral- victories don't cut it with me. We need some W's.
  15. When was the last time OU won a MAC football championship? Not a MAC east or Potato Bowl, an outright MAC football championship?
  16. Ohio State is always going to be the only recognized big-time football program in Ohio. Cincinnati is starting to make some waves, winning the Big East for a couple years. The successful MAC schools don't even fill there stadiums. 15-18,000 on a good day. Ohio State 100,000 every home game. I think if Akron can consistently win and get into a bowl game, I feel they would start getting people onto the band wagon. When we won the MAC in 2005, Akron sold the most bowl tickets in Motor City Bowl history. Win and they will come
  17. Infocision and a new basketball arena would be very appealing for a bid to the Big East. If we stay in the MAC, the JAR will do. Other than the Can't State game, we only average between 3-4 thousand fans. I always have a nice experience at the JAR. The Can't State game was loud and exciting. We sit in the upper reserve and can see the game fine. The fans white out was definitely a sixth man for the Zips. I think the Big East conf. should be the conference we shoot for. The conference would definately put UA on the national map. It would be nice for UA to be another big Ohio program other than OSU and Cincy.
  18. Why don't we let Coach Bowden create a chapter or two after at least 3-5 seasons and see how he does.
  19. I would be happy to play in the Idaho Potato Bowl
  20. I hope Coach Bowden and staff recruits heavy on the offensive and defensive lines. I noticed that we have been getting pushed around and getting dominated in line play. Akron's O-line and D-line seemed smaller in size compared to most of other MAC Big Boys. If we can control the line of scrimmage, on both sides of the ball, it is a good foundation for success.
  21. Hello fellow Zip fans. I am new to the Zipsnation family. I want to welcome coach Bowden and his staff. I feel with our facilities, there is no reason why we cannot turn this thing around. I want to experience an other 2005 MAC Championship season. That seems like a long time ago. I think in a couple years of quality recruiting from Coach Bowden and his staff another MAC champinship or at least a Bowl game (6 wins) is possible.
