  1. 2011-2012 MAC Championship game.
  2. WHAT A GAME! Every time I thought it was over and went to get something, BOOM we're back in it! Since the Bobkittens hired Jim Christian, the Zips been undefeated against them. Thanks for the hire Ohio.
  3. 11;30...8-5...Akron shooting 16%...OU shooting 14%...wtf game is this?
  4. Agreed. It is absolutely horrible. It almost looks as if all the players are drunk because the stream is so bad.
  5. kittens are favored by 5 if I'm not mistaken. Kittens lead all time 35-34. Could this game be the game that ties it up?
  6. We were 41st last night, 40 after I voted tweeted and retweeted others. Type in #6thfan #Akron into the search bar and it will bring up all of those that have tweeted it. Retweeting counts. For all of the Ak-Oldies on here (I say that in a good way) and you don't have a twitter...time to join the 21st century!
  7. I completely agree. I believe it is entirely possible that we could go 4-0 (I can't believe I'm actually saying that). But a home win against Howard to start it off. However I guess I'm being cautious...My expectation is to split the OCC schedule 2-2, with the losses being 4th quarter battles. Anything better than that is good...anything less than that makes me question if we really have taken a step up.
  8. I'll see what I can do with that. It'll be when I have free time...perhaps we can get another Polar Vortex to give me the time? As for the excitement...going from a recently graduated student's perspective...I think it's more exciting to have home wins (or easy home wins) this year than bringing in the good competition. Our first game is against Howard, which largest student attendance is that first game. If we were to win it, go on the road for two weeks and pull off a win against either Pitt or Penn St, students will continue coming. Keep winning, students will keep coming. I've been saying it for awhile, but the key to filling Infocision is getting the students out. Both now, and in the future. Build a culture of winning with the new students, a certain percentage of them will return as alums.
  9. That's a very good point. When I have free time I'll experiment with that idea. Thanks Zipmeister
  10. Yes I created it. My methodology was quite simple...look for patterns, and predict the schedule based upon patterns. 2012 prediction was 100% accurate, this year was 80%, because I got one wrong. We play four teams every year: Can't State, Ohio, Miami and UMass (which took the spot of Temple). Every year we played 5 East teams and 3 west teams. We never seemed to play BG or Buffalo more than two years in a row. West teams were more difficult to predict, but usually they seemed to alternate on a home-home every other year or so. EMU hadn't been on the schedule in two years, which meant to me that they were a likely opponent. NIU and Toledo had been on the schedule for two years (home-home) so they were not likely. The odd-ball out was Ball-St. This year appears to have thrown a wrench into my initial thoughts...but at least it was mostly accurate and hopefully it helps us predict future opponents a little easier. The wrench was that we play all MAC East opponents and only 2 West opponents.
  11. Can we all make throw in a few bucks and make a donation to Athletics for better cameras and feed tech...it's just embarrassing how bad ours is.
  12. This was released today by CNN. I didn't want to start a new discussion on it...but some student athletes having a 6th grade reading level. Thoughts on the admissions processes of college athletics, especially at high-academic universities?
  13. This is why we stop trying to determine "best teams" altogether. It's a BS Money grab parading itself as a student organization, that only really allows teams that can make money the opportunity to achieve the top positions. It's Bogus.
  14. Teamrankings Projects the Zips at 71.7% chance of the win. BallS at 28.3. I know some of you don't like TeamRankings, but for the Zips this season they are 12/13 on predictions, the only one they got wrong was the first S. Carolina game.
  15. I'm sorry but weren't we all worried about every game last year too? We were absolutely terrible during the 19-game winning streak...usually during the first half of each of those games I remember us struggling significantly. I still believe this team has more skill on the field that last year's.
  16. What's the point of having a "National Championship" if all teams in a division never get a legitimate chance to play for it? How about we do away with Football National Championships all together. If we cannot make a system that keeps kids safe/encourages kids to stay focused on studies, or give a fair shot at any team in the division, than do away with it.
  17. The goal of the NCAA is to keep the good schools good, and the bad schools bad.
  18. Long post GP1 so I won't quote it, but I think it put a lot of things into perspective. I guess the only question I throw out there for everyone is: what are we looking for to be happy? And, what type of balance does the MAC need to find between Scheme and Talent in order to achieve those goals. Some say I'm short sided by saying this: But I'm perfectly happy being a MAC C contender with a bowl bid. One of the most important things that schools need to learn is to live within their means, and to understand their market. We will never be a BCS competitor because it's not in the cards...it will never be in the cards. I do believe we have the coach who can achieve those goals that I want to see. The only other thing I would want to see is a full stadium, seeing 27,000 people having a goodtime at an Akron game. Though I'm not sure that one I achievable
  19. +1. I will always bash OSU so long as they are given 98% of the media coverage, when there are 7 other Division I programs in the state. I understand they are "more popular", but the popularity IMO has been bread into Ohioans within the state because of the constant Media drivel.
  20. Did anyone ever actually believe State Ohio was National Championship caliber?
