  1. Saturday is expected to not be rainy...so I'm going with an upset: 27-24 Akron.
  2. I like the A-Roo (thats how me and my friends always refer to it) better. Zipper was okay, as long as we get rid of the stupid "Zip Zip go the Zips" part...how infuriating. But why can't we have two different helmets? wear them interchangeably? we're interchanging the pant color schemes...why not the helmets too?
  3. Way over the top pedictions: If we upset Ball State we win out the rest of the season. More realistically: If we win back-to-back vs. Can't and UMass, we will beat Toledo. I'll drink to that!
  4. Yeah one win? UMass and Can't are games that we can win. Frankly, I think we can shock either Toledo or Ball State (both at home). We've got to minimize the mistakes. We frankly left 17 points on the field yesterday. One missed FG, and two fumbles by Bickley on TD drives. Should have been 41-17 by that mark. Akron beat Akron today and came out with the win though so I'll take it. TB's gotta muster the troops to play hard against BallS.
  5. Akron pulls off win #2 in one season after four years. Win starts the ball rolling, and the Zips pull of the "upset" against Ball State the following week at home. Go Zips!
  6. Couldn't have said I better. Most of the losses this year are lost on the last drive. I suppose that's improvement, but we've got to start pulling off that close game against a superior team.
  7. A blocked fieldgoal...with a penalty for illegal chop block? As an Akron Zips fan...I have officially seen everything.
  8. Is terry calling the plays today?
  9. As always the drunken stupor prediction: 24-21 Akron
  10. Not bad for us...bad for everyone else. We clearly are disrupting the natural balance.
  11. I had a dream about this last night...and as I drink coffee this morning, I'm convinced Karma hates Akron. The reason our football team continues the swirl down the toilet bowl, and now our soccer team is losing 2-0 to conference teams...there really is only one possible solution. KARMA. We are clearly being punished for our Men's and Women's basketball teams doing well this past season. I personally am so happy to have a brand new stadium (football) and a completely revamped stadium (soccer) for teams that are going in the wrong direction.
  12. When will they learn that the ONLY person we need returning balls is MTB1. He has the best hands...god I know I'm not a coach...but almost no-one is as solid as MTB and almost no-one can catch the ball like he does on returns.
  13. No. It won't be. NIU blows us out in similar Ianello-ear-esc fashion.
  14. I'm sad to say that Ohio's game was probably the last game I will attend as an undergrad. I have far too much going on to sacrifice any time on this nonsense. If Bowden can't pull this program from the Abyss, I'm sorry there is absolutely no one who can, so spare the Tressel crap, because Tressel isn't even good enough or even has enough courage to save this program.
  15. As a die-hard for all of my football teams I expect to win every game and take it very hard when we lose. However, each year I force myself to predict the outcome of each game before the season begins so I at least have a benchmark for how good or bad I SHOULD feel about the season. I said we'd go 1-4 in the first five games and sure enough that is correct. Perhaps in a drunken stupor, I predicted Ohio would be our 2nd W. The last time I made a prediction in my drunken stupor I said 39-38 Akron over Michigan and by god that almost happened... We played tough against OU at their house last year, and I honestly do not believe OU is as good as they were last year. We've improved considerably in all aspects of the game...with the exception of offensive play calling, the jury is still out on that one...alas there is only one thing I can say: GO ZIPS. Akron: 31 Ohio: 24
  16. It isn't. I keep reminding myself to take a step-back from the cliff...because I predicted a 1-4 begining with an upset against Ohio at home. I look to each game as being "The Game" and get strip teased...We still have a good 4 wins in us. Mark my words!
  17. The way the MAC is you almost need to run the table in order to get to the MAC C, and if you don't you need to at least beat the top teams. Beating BG was the only legitimate chance this team had to a MAC C run. Perhaps I'll be forced to eat my words (hopefully so) but I doubt that.
  18. We get Blown out at home. I've been overly excited for this team, thinking positively, but after three straight weeks of having the opportunity to win games and not being able to finish means to me that this will also be a loss. Think about it, we don't have ANYTHING to gain from winning this game...or any other game this year. MAC C chance is now gone, and the three games that would have meant something if won were all Losses. Michigan, LA-La and BG were all winnable games that were crucial. Saying this game is crucial is just non-sense.
  19. Same here. I'm so mad and upset, only to be questioned by people around me on why I care. I'm seriously debating hanging up my Akron football jersey for good. I've seen the team go 7-46 (including this 1-4 season) and I'm not sure I can take it anymore. Its not good for your all but non-existent fan base to be questioning what else they could be doing instead of watching ZipsFB.
  20. Seriously...how much more abuse can we take as a fan base? YOU HAVE TO PULL off a win at some point.
  21. Only as a Zips fan do you see EVERY POSSIBLE WAY to lose a game.
  22. This one wasn't too bad at all. This actually pumped me up more than the Michigan one.
  23. None other than it is an atrocity. When will LeBron give Akron's football team a pre-game speech or stand on the side-lines at our game? DOING THAT is REAL support for a program. These LeBron apologists are absurd.
  24. That's a pretty terrible standard. OSU has dominated the UM OSU rivalry in football for years now...are they not still rivals? There are other factors playing into a rivalry game: namely the fans. OSU sends lots of fans up here, we send lots of fans down there. It's the closest thing we have to a rivalry game from a fan perspective.
  25. I'll interject here: For Soccer, OSU is as much a rival for us as any other school on the schedule. Every OSU game is an exciting atmosphere with OSU fans cheering as well as Akron fans, making it more a rivalry than the non existent Akron-Can't soccer game. Second: Since when do we only have ONE rival? yes Can't is our Arch-rival...but aren't all Ohio schools rivals by virtue of proximity?
