  1. More like 2 minutes ago...
  2. I guess if you played for one of the ten worst D1 teams in the NCAA you would get a little pissy. There might well be more yet.
  3. This team is awful. I expected them to get surly.
  4. I haven't been this excited for a Zips game since the last time Coppin State came to town.
  5. Two interesting Josh stats- * He got to the free throw line just once, making both shots. * He’s attempted four times as many three’s (336) than two’s (82) over his career.
  6. Two kids will figure out (maybe with the help of the coaching staff) that UA is not the place for them.
  7. Just read an article from NBC Sports on Player of the Year Power Rankings. The top 3 were RJ Barrett from Duke, Zion Williamson from Duke and CJ Massinburg from Buffalo. Wow.
  8. I think GT has "virtually forgotten" how to be a reporter.
  9. Good call. I noticed that too. Just poor planning by someone.
  10. I realize that, but to say he was "virtually forgotten" is perplexing.
  11. Our old friend GT made the following stellar observation in his article about the game- Another key difference was getting big man Deng Riak involved. Riak added 14 points and led the team with seven rebounds. It proved to be a vast difference from the season opener when it looked as if the 6-foot-10, 225-pound transfer from East Carolina University was virtually forgotten. Apparently, GT wasn't at the Cedarville game. Against Cedarville, he played 25 minutes and had 7 field goal attempts and 6 free throw attempts. Against YSU, he played 26 minutes and had 8 field goal attempts and 3 free throw attempts. I guess one fewer minute put him in the class of virtually forgotten. I get more from reviewing the box score than I get from a GT article.
  12. The Cougars of Chicago State come into the JAR Friday night. They lave lost their first three games against Indiana (104-55), Notre Dame (89-62) and Central Michigan (101-60). Anthony Harris, a 6-5 senior guard, leads the team at 14 ppg. An article previewing the Indiana game included the following gems: Indiana will open their season against an opponent that went without a head coach for nearly FIVE MONTHS. Safe to say things are as low as a program can go as Chicago State has only won 13 games over the past three years. Things don’t look up for this team as KenPom has them placed near the bottom of all of Division I men’s basketball at 344th place out of 353 total teams with their only projected wins at the moment coming against Non-Division I schools.
  13. Hilltopper told us last week that Hester is no longer with the team.
  14. Naaaah, they get to play on Tuesday nights on ESPN 27.
  15. I'm just SICK AND DAMN TIRED.
  16. Sounds like they started coming together today. As for Les Mis, I'd have rather been at the Wolstein Center.
  17. I was listening to the Cleveland Browns radio show on 92.3 earlier in the week and the player interview was T.J. Carrie. Zip alum Ken Carmen asked Ohio U alum Carrie what stadium he liked the most in his travels in college and he lauded Akron as having some of the nicest facilities of any school he had visited while playing for OU. Rather than enjoy the moment, it just made me mad. UA has spent tons to get these model football facilities. The stadium is fantastic, the fieldhouse great, the dorms outstanding and the workout facilities top notch. We have the 15th highest paid coach in the State of Ohio. Northeast Ohio is a hotbed of talent located in a state that produces the 5th largest pool of college football talent in the country. Despite all of these elements for success, we hope every year that our dear Zips will get to .500 to be bowl eligible while we watch them dwell in the mediocrity in the middle or bottom of the MAC. We get the occasional tease with something like the Northwestern win, but in the end we watch the endless train of directional schools eat our proverbial lunch. The school has to make a choice. If you’re going to commit to playing FBS football, commit to doing it well, not settling for mediocrity. If not, go play in some obscure conference and stop this damn charade.
  18. Seems like Massinburg has been playing at Buffalo since the 90's.
  19. This year, it's "Hey, wake up, I think there's a game tomorrow."
  20. Yes, Zips news is just this slow.
  21. No, but I did get the comic book version.
  22. Anybody headed up to the game? I'll be stuck around the corner watching Les Miserables. Jean Vajean has no game.
  23. That clearly seemed to be the pecking order Tuesday.
  24. In warmups, Riak was hitting more long range shots than Cheese. Banks and Cheese are similar size, but Banks is more of a pure 2 guard with a decent shot while Cheese can play the point in a pinch and is more aggressive off of the dribble as a penetrator, but doesn't have the outside shot of Banks. I've seen them both for about 25 minutes, so I am pretty confident in my assessments! LOL.
