This is correct. If both (or neither) teams enter the championship with no losses, its one game. If one of them has a loss, they would have to win twice.
The dates/times are slightly weird. Usually you don't get a day off and the loser's bracket team would have to play twice in the same day. But the format is pretty standard.
I don't know if anyone saw this earlier today but US Soccer announced the fourth round pairings for the US Open cup (MLS teams enter in the 4th round) and the Crew will be playing the winner of the Dayton Dutch Lions/Indy Eleven third round match-up. The site? None other than First Energy Stadium in Akron. These Open cup games don't typically draw well so MLS teams often play in venues other than their own stadiums, as a way to try to expand their fanbase. The game will be play sometime between June 10-18, with more details to be announced after the third round game on May 28. Should be a fun time, having a MLS team playing on campus! http://www.thecrew.com/news/2014/05/crew-play-winner-indy-eleven-vs-dayton-match-lamar-hunt-us-open-cup
NIU, Toledo, and WMU all lost today while Akron got postponed and will have a doubleheader tomorrow. They are now in 7th place and may now only need 1 win this weekend to make the tourney.
Akron baseball won 1 of 3 against NIU this weekend. They currently sit in a tie with NIU for 7th/8th (NIU holds the tiebreaker thanks to the series win) and are one game ahead of Toledo and Western Michigan who are tied for 9th/10th. The top 8 teams make the MAC tourney. The Zips play Can't State Thursday through Saturday to close out the season. They will need to win at least 1, but likely 2, of the three games to qualify.
As someone from Youngstown who currently goes to Akron, I can say that at least Youngstown has there own TV stations and doesn't have to rely on the Cleveland news which gives them a couple minutes.
Zips lost games 2 and 3 in the series and are now 23-23 overall and 10-11 in the MAC. They are tied for 7th, one game ahead of 9th with 6 conference games left. The top eight make the MAC tournament. They play 9th place NIU in a big road series starting on Friday.
Here are my questions: 1) What does a President of a University do that he really NEEDS a Phd? I know most of them have one but do they really NEED it for their responsibilities on the job? 2) Doesn't a President mainly serve as a leader for the University? 3) Isn't Tressel a pretty good leader? 4) And if most of us agree that Proenza was a good president then why do we think someone he supports wouldn't be?
Akron baseball beat first-place Ball State today to open the series, 5-2. The Zips are now 23-21 overall and 10-9 in the MAC. There are 8 MAC games remaining.
