  1. I don't like the turf on the infield where the dirt should be, it is extremely painful to slide on.
  2. Myles MeVeigh named MAC East Pitcher of the Week after his six shutout innings this weekend. http://www.gozips.com/sports/bsb/2013-14/releases/20140324d0z3bd
  3. Certainly a good start towards making their first MAC tournament since 2005.
  4. They took the third game of the series as well, 6-0. Myles McVeigh made his first start since 2012, after missing last year with an injury, and let up 1 hit in 6 innings. Zips now 10-10 (3-0 MAC).
  5. Zips take game 1 of the DH 10-5 to move to 9-10 (2-0 MAC) this season.
  6. Yeah after they postponed the games yesterday around 2, they decided to play one after all starting at 4:30. They are playing a doubleheader today so they don't have to play tomorrow when its supposed to be below freezing.
  7. Both games today cancelled. Doubleheader tomorrow at 1 PM.
  8. The surprise snow storm has pushed today's game back to 3 PM as they wait for the snow to melt away. I would assume, if they play at all, that it would only be one game since there isn't lighting.
  9. I feel the same way but at least they would be able to get more home games in.
  10. I walked by the field a couple days ago and it didn't look to be in good shape. They were blowing leaves off the field and cutting the grass (which is still brown and dead) but it was in bad shape. Not that this is anyone's fault, it was an extremely harsh winter. I was watching St. John's baseball earlier today and their field was also still brown. More teams in the north need to invest in artificial surfaces (like the ZIps have played on the last two days at Ohio State and Pittsburgh) but that obviously isn't a concern of the university right now.
  11. There will be a link to the video around game time, right here...http://www.watchcollegeinsider.com/liveEvents/liveEvents.dbml?db_oem_id=29600
  12. I saw that they had two chances to close out the game (in the 9th and 11th innings) but couldn't get it done. Nonetheless, they played a good game against a good, power conference team. Ohio State is currently 12-6 and have beaten a couple top 25 teams already this year. I expect the Zips to make the MAC tournament this year, which would be a big step in the right direction.
  13. Another question to consider would be: Does either Akron or Wright State (or even whoever wins the CSU/OU game) want to pay to host a game? Because Wright State was on the road tonight.
  14. If we win will we face the winner of CSU/Ohio, Wright St (who won tonight), or someone else? I wouldn't mind Wright State, since we've played the other two already this year.
  15. EMU played their first postseason game in 18 years...in front of 373 people.
  16. According to their schedule they only played 1 game at the Memorial Coliseum. When I read the preview earlier it said that it was at the Coliseum but it has since been changed to the Gates Sports Center.
  17. You think he'll still be on the club when they join the MLS?
  18. The woman's tournament uses home or very close by locations for the first and second round sites, in order to help attendance.
  19. If you look at the MAC bracket it is listed as "Third Round" not quarterfinals. It also says "Third Round" on my ticket.
  20. I have that same feeling.
  21. I have no confirmation or insider information but I have a feeling (and am hearing rumors) that Jake may be playing on Thursday.
  22. Well the late home opener isn't their fault, and is the norm for college teams in the north. As far as the field goes, I agree. The field is pretty awful. They seemed to be moving to playing more games at Canal Park but this year they only play three games there and none of the are even conference games. In regards to the schedule, its certainly easier because last year they opened against three very good, power conference teams (Georgia Tech, Louisville, and Kentucky). But they also lost plenty of games last year against below average teams. And they have already beat a couple teams this season who were in the NCAA tournament last year.
  23. Zips baseball won 2 of 3 this weekend in Tennessee, beating Austin Peay and UW-Milwaukee by the scores of 10-0 and 13-5. The Zips are now 6-6 this season. It took them 12 games to get their first win last season. Definitely improved from last year.
  24. Big Dog would have had a few more rebounds had it not been for blatant pushes in the back from Can't State bigs that were not called.
