Remember these are rumors at this point

    1.  We don’t know where Boogie ends up &

    2.  Bubba isn’t even in the portal yet, he very well may stay

We should know the answer to both, pretty quickly. If my Google serves me correctly, ULM starts classes this week.

...  I didn’t believe it being he is a NEO guy & ULM is no better.

... Unless they just like Bowden better

Well that would certainly disrupt the narrative of some here, wouldn't it?

Not sure what has to happen before there is greater recognition of the problems with the program and current staff..

  3. With some of these skill players, it's tough to know how they would have emerged under better circumstances. This might be a way to find out.

    Best of luck to Boogie!

Boogie departing is disappointing. He wasn't a star, but he was a solid MAC player. And the Zips need all the upperclassmen they can get.

I get the historical argument that coaches could leave a program whenever they pleased, but players had to sit a year whenever they transferred. I also get that a student athlete has 5 years to play, and then the ride it over. So a senior who sticks with the Zips probably looks at 2021 and says..."I wanna win, and I don't see that happening in Akron in 2021, so I'm outta here." But...

But is it good for college athletics to have student athletes transferring whenever they please? Are those transferring going to find a landing spot, or will many of them become ordinary Joe's, paying their own way if they want to attend college?

It seems like a big mess. It's no fun being a 20 year old college student right now. And it can't be any fun being a college coach in 2021 either.

The system is so broken, it only works for the best of the P5 programs and players. Right now, Akron isn't a place where a grad player thinks they have the best shot to win or make the NFL.

Jonah never played for Arth, it was Hicks, I believe the UAB game, he grabbed Hicks & gave him a good butt chewing

If you have to grab a kid to make your point, you might have a problem. There is no place for a coach to ever get physical unless it is needed to separate players fighting or otherwise prevent violence.

  5. Hicks owns his own behavior, but it doesn't seem like this is a coaching staff able to help kids be the best versions of themselves.

I don't buy the line that kids who tra safer are selfish and don't want to be part of a team.

Things are not good in the world of Akron football.

Good. Maybe some of the people still clinging to him can follow him to Louisiana

I guess this is the response we should have expected from the, "nobody wants him" crowd completely willing to overlook the absolutely stupid decision to fire him with 2 years left on his contract. Still waiting from that MAC East title and first bowl win from Arth.

  7. You have to give Terry credit. Not many with the pedigree that he has would have been willing to take a position as a grad intern with hopes of becoming a better head coach, all while still on the Akron payroll. Hard to say it was a rough 2 years for him.

Best of luck in his new home where he inherits a team that went 0-7 this year and 4-4 in 2019. No doubt, a lot will feel familiar to him.

I wonder how much of the old band will be getting back together?

How so? All your boys have entered the portal and gone no where and /or they just quit or got tossed. So if you say your boy Bowden recruited nothing than you would be right.

When Arth pulls together more than a win or two, come talk to me about the talent. Bowden recruited a lot for talent that translated to results. We have yet to see that from Arthur.

Talent isn't found on a ratings site, it's found in the "W" column.

No true fan of Akron football misses Bowden. His last team was a miracle at NW, PAT against Kent, and TD against CMU from being 1-11. And 4/5 games in that dreadful losing streak to close the season were embarrassments. If you're proud of accomplishments like that in year 7 of a coaching regime, you my friend are a LOSER. Raise the F**** standard. I don't see anyone "giving Arth a pass" either, nor should you. If you get $500k to do any job, you don't get a pass. Raise the F**** standard. GO ZIPS!

The loser is the one who fails to recognize the program's achievements under him. Let's recall a few of the highlights:

    1. Most wins as a D1 team.

    2. First bowl win

    3. Two P5 wins (Pitt and NW)

    4. Wagon wheel wins (forget how many)

    5. Numerous players to make it to an NFL roster

They may not have been what you expected, but there continue to be people on this board out of touch with the realities facing G5 schools.

At the end of Bowden's second season, the team pulled off a signature upset against Toledo. The Zips show no signs of being able to do that. The win against BGSU was like  eating a high school team.

UA is never going to pay more than one football head coach at a time ever again so settle in and hope for the best.  If you think Arth will continue to be a failure mark the end of his contract on your calendar now because that's the earliest chance you'll have to get rid of him.

I'm so happy basketball season is here and football season is over so that I don't have to read the same arguments on here every week.

I also believe this is true. The only way he goes early is if the program is cut. It's possible that happens.

You guys realize that when Arth arrived over 70 players were failing at least one class.  Stories of players falling asleep in meetings, missing meetings, constantly tardy, missed workouts, disobedience to coaches and staff was the norm.

What a load of crap. Honestly.

People make up crap on a guy they don't like.

Who has ever validated this? No one.

it probably is the kind ifthe crap some kid who road the bench fed his dad who thought his kid was the great MAC star to make it to the NFL.
