Rumor has it (on zn.o) that it's already a done deal. Probably FCS (a little less losing) but preferably Div. II (more winning).
Div. III (lots of winning!) would be the ultimate prize, but probably too much to hope for at this point.
That's a joke. A lot has to change before sustained winning can be expected at any level. Congrats, UA. You will have a mediocre D3 team with mediocre D3 coach.

My prediction is that we would continue losing if we dropped. Dropping is not a solution. It's a cop out

What is interesting is that people complain about the discussion about the poor coaching performance, yet they are the only threads people really commenting on. The on-field play is so bad, it is difficult to even discuss.
I will never agree to some ridiculous notion that Arth can make us respectable, let alone in 2 years. There is simply nothing that should lead us to believe that. Our play has not shown any signs of an improving team. We have a couple of players here and there seemingly playing a little better but it is tough to judge whether there is true improvement or just the opponent taking their foot off of the gas.
I spoke to a former player and his concern was the lack of urgency and will to win. I think that is obvious.

It doesn't take a freaking genius to realize that UA DOESN'T HAVE THE MONEY TO PAY 3 HEAD FOOTBALL COACHES.
Hey, shouldn't be a problem, or Larry Williams was blowing smoke put of his butt.
At any rate, start by firing Williams. His contract must be close to being up. I could find anything on the web that have the details. If there is no contract and we can fire him at any time, what are we waiting for?

I by no means bury my head in the sand. It takes a village not an individual for success. Become part of the village and not the villain whose negativity is trying to tear something down that hasn't even started yet. Give em a chance !
Lol....this guy gets paid enough for the whole village. It's on him.

OK genius...you be content to wait while the dumpster fire turns into a wildfire too big to extinguish.
Maybe this I intentional. Maybe William's was bought in to make it easier to convince the community at large that 1AA is a better fit. But why stop there. Go D3 so you can compete, locally, and get beat by Youngstown.

I didn't mention NCAA player suspensions. Not sure UA has anyone that falls under that category. One thing I dont understand is you say UA had great personnel a yr ago. Yet this yr they are terrible. A player is a player. Did you ever think that the turnovers, penalties , blown coverages etc are a result of a “ cowboy mentality” by those great players that are not doing what they are coached to do? The “me “ attitude does not set well with this staff.
I haven't said that players are terrible, I dont think at all about this team. The team play is terrible and the coaching is terrible.
You obviously have no evidence for what you are saying. You just want to bury your head in the sand. Arth is a disaster.

Though everyone might disagree, I feel he has the ship going in the right direction. He is recruiting a different type of player and is making these young men accountable. I know everyone wants instant gratification but be patient.
What could possibly be leading you to this conclusion? If I had to guess about player suspensions, they are likely NCAA violations, not team imposed. The turnovers and penalties certainly don't seem to reflect accountability, and some of them are reflection of poor coaching, so where is the accountability, there? Thos isn't about instant gratification. He didnt take over the program from Ianello. He took over a respectable program that teams knew they had to prepare to face. He took over a team that had one a B10 game the previous season. How are the players he is recruiting a different kind?

Moving Council to center was a mistake. He is our best lineman and he does not do well snapping the ball. I honestly looked and couldn't see if he was back there yesterday or bot. Put Peterson back at center and get better use out of Council.

Unfortunately, it can. What a disaster. I hope Arth has the guts to restructure his staff in the off-season. This team is poorly prepared and has zero confidence it can win.
Restructure his staff? Lol. He arranged it to begin with, I have little hope that restructuring will yield the results needed.

So, do you keep sending good money after bad? I was under the impression from another poster that the South Carolina game paid for Bowden's contract. Both the AD and the coach are out of their leagues. The longer you let it go, the harder to rebuild the program. Doing nothing tells recruits and players that the U doesn't care about football.
The apathy on the sidelines is as about as bad as it can get. No zeal, no hope, nothing but lifeless players hanging their heads in the first half.

Great point!
Why not fire them both. Both have been colossal disasters. The longer we hold on them, the more our legacy of failure grows.

. How long has it been since we scored a touchdown? I wonder if this team will even score a touchdown the rest of the season. I thought the end of last season was bad. This is worse!

When you have no line, you try to get the ball to playmakers who can can make things happen on their own. The Zips would be smart to run some plays getting the ball to Knight and Wofley.
-
Time try a new QB.

I will gladly eat crow in the event that Arth makes Akrom a winner. But, those banking on Arth seem to forget it is more than recruits. You have to be able to coach and he shows no signs of having D1 skills, at the moment.

This entire disaster is on Williams' shoulders.

Good defense or poor offense on both sides of the ball? Missed field goals left points on the board , both ways as did unconverted 4th down attempts and turn-overs were horrible.
-
I doubt the President and Trustees are as disinterested as you portray them. At the end of the day, they have to be results-oriented and we are talking out of both sides of our mouth if we fired Bowden based on results and don't hold Arth and William's accountable.
Recruiting for the worst team in D1 will be an uphill battle and the transfer portal shows a lack of confidence in Arth. Tge suspension of Nelson and Sands, who should be leading the team is also not a good sign.
The Zips need a miracle to resurrect the program. Arth wiped out all of the gains we made under Bowden. I do not know where we go from here. It's not like we have a marquee QB to build the program around. Gibson looked OK, but he is not going to be an all-star.
What are some practical measures that can be taken to improve the quality of play?

And yelling would be OK, but he seemed so completely disconnected from his players and more on the border of rage than motivational yelling.
-
To me you yell when you know kids are not playing as good as they can. Honestly, we haven't seen anything better under Artg, so to tell at this juncture seems pointless. It would be different if we had seen better and they weren't playing up to that, but to yell at this point is more of a reflection on him than the team.

I don't mind seeming Arth get angry. He should be angry. I just hope he doesn't go to the post game press conference and start spewing BS about all the positive things he saw today. He should say this is totally unacceptable and it is all ultimately on him as the head coach. That would be refreshing.
Why should he be angry? Because he hasn't been able to adequately coach his team? That his veteran QB in some capacity, chose actions that put him out of the line of fire after being abused all season?
He is in over his head. His little meltdown is exhibit A.
