Journalistically, this article is a piece of crap.No attribution...No on-the-record-source....just speculation.I would be blown away if Coacher goes anywhere. He has said over and over he wants to be here for the rest of his career.I take him at his word. I consider him a person of integrity. He's a Zip. His Mom was a psyc professor here...this is home.He is NOT going anywhere.
There was a pretty large walk up crowd. Why would that be a problem? We should just be glad they are there...no?The side upper deck general admission was just about full. I would say 1/3 of each upper end zone was full. What really surprised me was the amount of empty blue seats. I take it not all of those are sold out for the season. However, I would have to believe most of the lower reserved are season tickets and A LOT of those seats were empty. But there was plenty of home spirit going around...plenty of home court advantage.Buffalo is a tough defensive team...good pressure...good boards. There are only 3 seniors on their roster, which tells me they're going to be good for a couple of years to come.
Today's Buffalo game was the first time I've been to the JAR in years.I like the coach's banners with all of the teams accomplishments. And the retired numbers banners are second to none.Very well done. When did they put the benches on the other side of the floor?
The only promotion I like is letting the kids get in free when they wear their jersey.Other than that...$5,000 shooting contest? I'll bet they have to make the shot from the Olin Hall faculty parking lot.Dance clinic? I don't know, if it gets the kids involved...fine. I don't see people beating the doors down because of this one either.Seems they could do better.
In that case, I would have a banner that lists each year we made the NCAA Tournament. Here's what I propose:A banner listing each year we make the NCAA Tournament.A banner listing each year we make the NIT.A banner for any NCAA or NIT championship.A banner for any conference championship.A banner for each retired number.I didn't expect this to be so emotional. If you disagree...that's cool.Put the old banners back up...the sun will still come up.I didn't like it when the Indians were putting divisional banners on the outfield fence either. I think they should keep it to American League or World Series Championships.
Winning the NIT would be a championship, therefore deserving of a banner.I WAS around for the last few years of Div. II. I understand there was life before Huggins. But I can't see putting up a banner for second place.
I respectfully disagree.I'm a history lover as much as anyone and appreciate how far the program has come. However, you don't need your "Championship" banners to read like a media guide.Banners are meant to honor significant achievement, not the run of the mill.
I understand where you are coming from.However.I think we had banners up there for accomplishments that really shouldn't have banners.Division II runnerup? I don't think so.It's like a program clinging to anything to put up a banner. We can do better than that.Let's only put them up for Conference championships and retired numbers.
The Flush fans who can not accept the truth are already calling for an apology on the Can't Forum.http://www.ncaabbs.com/forums/mac/phpbb/vi...pic.php?t=42690
USA Today has major feature article on Akron Zips flying high in the MAC.Of course, there is a LeBron tie in, but still very nice...good pub, for Akron and the conference.http://www.usatoday.com/sports/college/men...mes-akron_x.htm
