  1. Ignorant...I've been to Athens too.
  2. Very nice..however, I would lower the stands a little and complete the bowl.
  3. Talk about ignorant comments.
  4. I hadn't been on the main part of campus in a lot of years. After the Buffalo game, I gave one of my sons a quick little tour. The quality of the new buildings...the Student Union, the honors hall, the athletic field house...just to name a few are outstanding. Here's keeping my fingers crossed that they'll have the same standards for the new stadium. I'm cautiously optimistic.
  5. Generally speaking, OU fans think their crap doesn't stink. They can do no wrong. They think they are something called the "Flagship University" for the state of Ohio. For them to say something like that is pretty rich.
  6. We touched on this in another post.As if we don't have enough to worry about with Toledo, OU and Can't, Duquesne is catching fire. Saw a USA Today article mentioned on UofAZips.com message board about "Duke Downtown" as the locals say.http://www.usatoday.com/sports/college/men...sne-notes_x.htmI'm really tempted to go down for this one.The schedule started off on the soft side, but things are heating up. It's enough to make you want to
  7. Ryno:There's a lot of I AA on that list:Illinois St.Eastern WashingtonRichmondVillinovaUC Davis
  8. Attendance:3,327 OK, so it looked empty. Remember that about 500 of those are corporate-owned seats with no one sitting in them. Kid:I wasn't making any commentary...I was just posting the official attendance in case anyone was curious.Peace bro!
  9. Attendance:3,327
  10. As I understand it, the hand-railings are the policy. No railings, no beer. There might be other factors, but that is the main reason cited for not having beer in the Rubber Bowl. Fear, I like it.As for beer, I remember going to the Rubber Bowl with 12 pack in hand.In fact, I'd even go on a beer run at halftime at the Lawson's on the circile on Triplett.(too bad it was 3.2 beer)Ah, the good old days.
  11. That's exactly what Coach Dambrot said on the post-game show.He sugarcoats nothing. This was our clunker before the big game. There's not that much diff between us, Toledo, Can't and OU. On any given night in the MAC...well, you know.Let's hope we're on top of it for Toledo.Go Zippers!!!
  12. That's what I was saying Fear.In the old days, the stations hired the announcers because they were considered more journalists at the time....how can you be critical of the team that employes you? You just can't get an honest opinion that way...unless of course you are Joe Tait. From the teams perspective it makes a lot of sense, but I think the listener loses an objective broadcast. The announcers just turn into a mouthpiece for the owners, or in this case, the university. But these days $$$$$ rules.
  13. Thanks...Is there a setting on the browser that I can change? You know what else I constantly do, is click on "report" instead of "quote."Ever do that, are they too close together?I dont' want this to come off as a b!tch session. I really like Zipsnation and appreciate all the work they put into it.It must be a labor of love. But, if they're seeking input.....you know.
  14. I don't experience this on any other board that I post. But on Zipsnation, after I go to a page, I have to refresh it to ensure that the latest posts are listed. That's a lot of refreshing. You would think that by just going to the page that it would already be updated.Do you ever click on "view new posts" and an error message comes up?
  15. This is what happens when the University hires the announcers instead of the stations. There is an inherant conflict of interest. However, Steve French is head and shoulders above Bill Needle.I listened to Needle the night we played them, and as a former radio play by play announcer I can honestly say I can not understand how the man is on the air.
  16. I agree. If we don't win the MAC, we're in the NIT....so let's keep deciding our own destiny.
  17. Do you guys also have to constantly refresh a page after you go to it?Why doesn't the page refresh on it's own?I'm always refreshing pages on this site.Is it just me?
  18. What do you mean?I hear Jayna is a BIG Zips fan.
  19. I'm with you B and G.However, it is nice to see Toledo play Can't before we have to go out to Toledo. I think it may tell us a little bit more how we will stack up against the Rockets.Too bad we don't play Toledo in the JAR.
  20. Gee, maybe that's why I couldn't find a link. Thanks guys.I read a gazillion newspapers per day and it's easy to get them mixed up.
  21. Is anyone buying the article in the Beacon Journal that our real braketbuster is against a hot Duquesne club insteadof APU?Sorry, I couldn't find the article on the Web to post a link.
  22. I agree Zen.I saw the tail end of the spot and the production value seemed high. However, quick edits of campus, sports activities, labs, parties, classrooms, studyrooms, dorms set to fast pace music or something to appeal to the students ...mix in some snappy graphics and you've got yourself a nice spot. From what I've seen from over the years, universities make the mistake of putting the president up front...stroking the boss, instead of communicating the correct messages.Companies also do this with the CEO.Instead of having Proenza talking about the Akron Advantage...lets show it to them!!!
  23. Exactly gozips88.Daddy's from Akron. Mommy's from OU. Needless to say, I'm bringing them up the right way! I did feel a bit sorry for the female cheerleaders who take prizes into the stands for the spirit contest. I thought the one holding the Crunch Bar was going to get mugged. Then, when she let it go, there were about 20 kids holding on to it. They had to bring the ushers in to break it up. To quote one great police sgt., "let's be careful out there!"
  24. I'm packin' up the little Zippers right now and headed to the JAR.Go Zipsbeat Testicle Tech!
  25. I agree. The spots for the University are of a far better quality than for the athletic department.I'm sure the athletic budget is much smaller and the staffs different, however, when image building and promotion are big reasons to have athletics, in addition to developing the student-athlete, the messages should be clear, consistent and high-quality on both ends.
