  1. I'll go one step further and say that I am certain that nobody was doing that. But since Fleck throws the word "classless" out there. I'll call it classless that he has his starting offense in the game, in the final minutes, and tries to score another TD on 4th down in a 34-0 football game.
  2. Blue and Gold. I pretty much felt the same way about it. Regardless of the origin on that mantra, or how it was communicated, it's still their mantra. And we mocked their mantra to motivate our own team. I really don't see the problem. I actually think that "rowing" associated with a football team in the middle of Michigan is what makes it so open to mockery. And calling it "classless" is really going way too far.
  3. It was disturbing to me to see us getting beat down the field so many times. Penn State's "fast breaks" could have easily produced 5 goals in that game. At the same time, we dominated a good majority of the action. Very strange game.
  4. Having dinner at a family's house is fine. And donating money to a University, which is later used to fund scholarships, is fine also.
  5. Players are entitled to privacy on medical issues until they want to disclose them, and the team is entitled to secrecy, if they choose to do so. I respect that. I'm not the first one on this board that's held back on disclosing too many details. Rumor? You mean that fact that I refuted someone's statement that Brock's situation was "doubtful...probably a knee", and told you that you'll find that it is something much more significant? That's spreading "Rumor BS"? I already knew it to be incorrect, and wanted to let everyone know without saying more than I felt comfortable disclosing at the time. This isn't directed just at you, but if some people on this board would pull back a bit on wanting to be argumentative about everything that's posted, and would just listen a little more, you might just realize that you're getting some tips on some things that are on the horizon that might be pretty valuable.
  6. Did you ever wonder why there was a rotation to begin with? Maybe to keep the DL active and fresh throughout the game? Now you'll have a 2nd tier guy, playing a lot of snaps, on a unit that was already struggling. And secondly, If you read my original post in this thread, I wasn't making a big deal out of just one guy's absence. Stay tuned.
  7. The article only showed the 10 or so schools that were interviewed as final candidates. NIU was not one of them. Even if they were, I'm not sure I would have lumped them with the schools I mentioned previously. I wasn't looking at whether MAC school were involved. I didn't think they would be. What caught my attention was the level of some of the schools that had made the final list. Conference officials held interviews in September with Air Force and Colorado State from the Mountain West; Central Florida, Cincinnati, Connecticut, Houston, South Florida, SMU and Tulane from the American Athletic Conference; and BYU, which is a football independent with its other sports in the West Coast Conference.
  8. No, I don't think any MAC school would have been a fit, geographically. I already indicated that. The furthest school North into MAC Territory on their list of candidates that were interviewed was Cincinnati. You're missing what I am reporting here. I saw schools on their very short interview list that are pretty low on the D-1A totem poll. I don't think I had ever seen that before. And I clearly stated that I am NOT in the camp of people who have ever thought that a school that far down the line ever had a chance to be considered for a major conference expansion.
  9. Correct. I saw the list and noticed that there were a number of schools that I would objectively not consider to be Superior to Akron. That's why I was bringing it to everyone's attention. Especially since I've always believed that conference expansion has not expanded enough yet to start reaching down towards schools that are around our level of play in the major sports.
  10. Let me preface all of this by saying that I've never thought it was possible that Akron could seriously draw attention from any highly regarded conference. But still, here were some of the schools listed that were apparently interviewed as part of the Big VII's recent expansion inquiry: Air Force Colorado State Rice Tulane There were a few more, but these names really stuck out at me. Maybe they are all a better geographical fit for the league. But besides that, does anyone think that any of these 4 schools are really superior to Akron in any way in football/basketball?
  11. You may have missed an important detail. I've heard him say that the offense we run doesn't change. But, you can certainly alter the plays that are called to give us a chance at more success when he is in the game. I've seen a little bit of that in the Miami and Kent games. This week, we were going after the big plays maybe far too often, and most of his long balls were poorly under thrown. I agree with you that I think we really fail if we want to count on TC to make accurate throws downfield, compared to Tommy, against good competition.
  12. You'll find out what I am talking about very soon.
  13. People weren't questioning some things when we were beating a couple of scrubs. Those games are done. Last Saturday was a "back to reality" game that even I was not imagining being anywhere close to the way it turned out. Getting a couple of these guys back could be a huge lift, but new injury news is going to hurt. I hope we at least can find a way to get back to a bowl game. And needing 3 more wins to guarantee that is going to make Ball State a pretty important game.
  14. You won't be seeing him, and it's not a knee. That's all I am going to say. You're unfortunately going to be getting some bad news about another DL also. We lost much more than just a game last weekend.
  15. Sorry. I couldn't help but to notice that this was posted in 2012. It goes to show you that you can sometimes find a pot of gold at the end of a rainbow, even in the most unlikely of circumstances.
  16. This is exactly how I was seeing it too. And I can add the interference on JoJo down near the goal line that never got called too. We could have stayed within striking distance much, much longer if these calls had not gone against us, and the game could have entertained the fans for a little bit longer. It probably was just prolonging the agony, but a miracle could have happened. We were just dominated. Giving up 6.9 yards per rush is just staggering.
  17. From what I see, JoJo attracts Safety help alot, surely because of his speed. Lane probably gets doubled to beat him up a bit because of his size. If not, he'd overpower just about any corner in our league. This may explain why Wolf has gotten more touches this year than I expected. You simply can't have two guys watching all 3 of them. I actually can't remember a time when we had 3 really good receivers like this at the same time. And I hope they come up big today.
  18. For now? What you might not realize is that these two things are interrelated. We have to win games like this IN ORDER FOR the culture to change. We won't get the opportunity to play a ranked team at home very often. It could very well be another 14 years before a MAC team is ranked, and just happens to have a road game at Akron the following week. It may not Shock The World. But, until the day comes when we can knock off one of the big boys on the road, this is going to be as good of an opportunity to raise some national eyebrows as we're ever gonna get. If it doesn't happen, the people of Akron (and many of our students) will just go back to regarding us as an insignificant team in an insignificant conference. This team needs to be at its best tomorrow. And we need to do whatever we can as fans to help them.
  19. Frankly, I don't care who catches the ball. Chapman and Lane were certainly not on the same page. And Bowden says that we're going to be attacking the DB who's in single coverage. If Lane is that guy tomorrow, then he needs to make some plays.
  20. I hear what you're saying. But, it would sure be nice to see some mention of Akron's consistent position. It's not as if every team in the MAC has randomly appeared all over the standings over the last decade. We've clearly been THE target team. Nobody else in the MAC during that time (or possibly ever) has played in anything near 8 title games. Has anyone else even played in 3 or 4 ? I just think it deserves some mention, rather than indicating that the league is some sort of random scrambled mess every year.
  21. Make a few big plays defensively at the right time, and we'll win. I'm looking for 5 stopped WMU drives. All it takes is a knocked down pass on 3rd down, a key sack, a stuff on a running play, a timely penalty, etc. Our offense can take care of the rest. That's all the help we'll need from the defense.
  22. I just always have an issue with Akron being looked at as a potential "small, unknown school that has the potential to come out of nowhere". It's also funny that they are writing about AKRON, and then talk about the MAC as a "wide open league" when we've been at/near the top for 10 years.
  23. I've been in the President's Suite many times. I actually can't even recall the President being in there for long periods of time over the years. And there's usually so many other people popping in and out of the room also. My guess is that the last concern they would have is what channel a guest put on the tv on the wall. But now that you make me think about it, it probably would look pretty bad if our own President was wanting something else to be viewed on the TV other than our own game.
  24. I hear you. I have no problem with showing highlights or posting the score either.
