  1. I want to comment on this, because it's a very valid point. I don't understand why some people don't understand the INCREDIBLY FRAGILE nature of the MAC tournament. We've lost that tournament when we were the best team. And we've won it twice from a lower seeded position, after surviving OT games and last-second shots. Do we really want every 30-game season to end with us hanging on the edge of these uncertainties ? The only alternative to is to take what we have, and take some chances to push ourselves to a much higher level.
  2. Yes, I WAS the one who said that. Don't be a fool. I've been around basketball way too long. If you have one guy sitting in the paint, your other 4 defenders are chasing 5 guys around the perimeter, and your opponent is going be firing up alot of uncontested 10-15 foot jumpers all night long. Also, you can't always count on your center slacking into the lane against another center who is no threat to shoot from outside, because all your opponent has to do is force you into one switch, and you suddenly become very exposed. You have to play a zone if you want Zeke to stay in the paint. And quite honestly, I would like to see us try to play more zone for that very reason.
  3. I believe that was the type of shot we we're playing for in that situation, he just had to launch it from too far away, and ended up getting a hand in his face at the last moment when he pulled up to shoot. But, I'll agree that he's not contributing much right now. A few others can join that group. We really need to take a few lessons from the Canadians about how to play as a cohesive unit, because we are have struggled to learn it on our own.
  4. Of course he is. For the most part, if we're playing man defense, he covers his man.
  5. 1) I agree with KD in the postgame. We played with great effort tonight, unlike the OU game, but just got beat by an experienced team that played well. 2) In many ways, this was a repeat of the first Buffalo game. They have too many effective players in the frontcourt to stop them all effectively, they move the ball well, and can hit a clutch 3 when they need it. 3) The refs were HORRIBLE tonight, but may have been pretty close to being equally horrible for both teams. It's just too bad that the errors they made down the stretch happened to be in Buffalo's favor.
  6. It's a hard one to just blow off, for sure. The way we lost our desire, and the way a certain player flat-out gave up, was troubling to me. Time to get it together tonight and end the drama of who will win the MAC regular season title. Then take our chances that we can find a way to play two good games in a row in the tournament. Go Zips ! Beat Canada !
  7. Hint: KD doesn't have that on his resume yet either. Until......TOMORROW NIGHT.....I hope.
  8. If Keith has ever put the Seniors into the starting lineup on Senior night, I have never noticed. But, I am looking forward to the game. It will be great to clinch at home. ANd if 3,000 people show up, I am going to be quite disappointed.
  9. Agreed. We've won plenty of games, yes, but it's been far from a long list of good performances, as some people seem to want to believe. Like I said earlier.................This team should be quite fortunate that they only have to play two games to win the MAC tournament.
  10. The disparity in effort between the two teams was the most dissappointing. And it was capped off by Alex's matador defense on an OU fast break at mid-court later in the 2nd half. What an embarrassment that it had to be caught on camera. Keith certainly saw it. I've said this before, but this team lacks focus and intensity from time to time. I say, good thing we'll likely only have to play two games in the tournament this year.
  11. UAZip....save yourself the grief. A MAC Championship, our first conference title in 26 years, is going to ignite a post-game celebration if it happens on Wednesday night, whether you like it or not, and whether or not you think it's important. If you were here in 1986 like me, you'd realize that it's a big deal. We did it then, and we'll do it again. It's a lot of fun. Enjoy it !!
  12. I don't really think Buffalo at home is the biggest concern for most people. Even though that's probably the biggest of the 3 games right now. So what exactly is "our game"? Don't forget that we beat OU and Ken+ at home, and were outplayed in the first half of both of those games, on our home court. Tonight will be the first test to see if we've grown over the last month or so, and can beat a good MAC team on the road.
  13. Still a chance that the Felons will have to play extra games in the tourney too. That's what I like to see !! But....................BG is now playing like a legitimate title contender.
  14. I'm wholeheartedly in favor of the students getting more lower seating. I think it would improve the atmosphere. But, I completely agree that it's not meritted at this point. And it is indeed going to be difficult to change a long-standing philosophy that we reward the biggest contributors with the best seats, regardless of how frustrated some people might be with the idea that there are so many no-shows.
  15. Probably not. Regardless of how I feel about referees doing their job, as a fan, I'd rather see less whistles just like everyone else. Unless, of course, they are not blowing enough whistles when the Zips are getting fouled, in which case, I scream about the whistle not being blown enough
  16. I'm not sure why someone would imply that blowing less whistles means that you are a good referee. The responsibility of the officials is to do a good job applying the rules, whether the fans like it or not.
  17. You don't think those teams would have wanted to win a MAC regular season title? Have the #1 Seed? Have a more favorable draw? And have to play less games to win the tournament?
  18. In 1986, we cut down the nets when we clinched the OVC title. We then cut them down again the next weekend when we won the tournament. Cutting down nets is good. Anyone who thinks that we would not take advantage of an opportunity to celebrate our first conference title in 26 years in front of our home fans (if it happens next Wednesday) is crazy.
  19. ....or flat-out lies and a cover up. Hmm. Remind you of someone? This may be really harsh, but the corrupt elements in college athletics need to be weeded out if we are ever going to have any hope of having the good people who are willing to play by the rules rise to the top.
  20. Assuming that we very likely will find a way to win at least one of the next 3 games, and wrap up that #1 Seed, there's only one thing left for us to root for: Who do we want to be the #4 (our semifinal opponent)? I think that will depend on what we see out of Ken+, OU and Buffalo this coming week. Or, could we possibly get lucky enough that someone else can sneak in there for that #4 spot?
  21. Playing all of our guys for regular minutes during that 5-day stretch of 3 games will actually help us PREPARE for the MAC tourney. I'll be surprised if our coaches are thinking about resting guys, unless there's some nagging physical problems with any of them.
  22. For me, I just can't be happier that the scheduling this year gave us a brutal 3-game stretch to end the season, and it's probably not even going to matter. And I'm sure both OU and Ken+ were licking their chops when they saw that we had to come to their place in that critical final stretch.
  23. Lets just hope that since the MAC title is now just two Home wins away, that our guys will come out with a little extra fire tonight. This team has lacked consistent effort for 40 minutes pretty much all season long. With the light at the end of the tunnel now beaming right in their faces, it's time for that all-out effort. Zips 80 BG 55
  24. DEATH before you'd wear a Cowlumbus State hat? That's the post of the year. We need a few thousand more people like you around here.
  25. Getting your feet set should have nothing to do with whether you are a "catch and shoot" guy, or not. Players who have good focus and patience can find their balance fairly consistently when they shoot a jump shot. I think this has always been an issue with him.
