  1. That's interesting, Dave. Thanks for the data. I may have focused on the records alone, and assumed that our 2011 team was in much better shape than the 2010 OU team.
  2. That's why I said 3 wins or 4 wins doesn't matter. Focus on the wins all you want, but a 4-8 record against Top 100 teams isn't going to get anyone's attention.
  3. And if we win Wednesday, that should make the Buffalo game next week the clincher, no matter what happens at OU and Ken+. Am I right?
  4. Thank you. Please feel free to use it yourself in the future
  5. Just when I was pretty sure I had that image out of my head for good. But I must admit, it still made me
  6. This is why it still bothers me that we got a #15 last year.
  7. 1) I've always felt like he's had too much "panic" in his offensive game. Think of the consistency in which guys like Walsh and McNees shoot 3-pointers. Brett, on the other hand, is all over the place, and often looks rushed. 2) I'll agree with those who feel that he came up HUGE in that quarterfinal game against Miami last year. I just wish it had carried over to the remainder of his career. 3) I can only think of one real consistent stretch in his career, which was during primarily the OOC games in the early part of last season. If he can contribute a stretch of games like that now to end his career, it would be a pleasant surprise. I hate to see him go out like this. 4) I was hoping for a Conyers-like resurrection in his Senior year. And I wonder if his Senior year had been NEXT year, like it was supposed to be, if that would have made a big difference for him.
  8. This has always been my argument, right here. And it's now proven to be true. Our national standing increases, even with a much worse winning percentage, simply by adding some tougher competition to the OOC schedule. I'm guessing this answers a question on this topic for some of the more stubborn posters on here. Would you rather see us win 25+ games and get noticed by nobody? Or, would you be OK with winning a few less games but having an opportunity to get an At-Large bid ? I'm begging our people to put the Zips in position to pursue the 2nd option, every single time.
  9. I think it's only 3 wins, but that really doesn't matter. Did you possibly forget about the 8 losses to try to prove a point? It's probably 3-4 wins short of even attracting any attention at all.
  10. That might be even better. But, what are the chances we would have to play them right in Cowlumbus? Would the selection committee even allow a #2 or #3 seed to play in their home arena? I'd hate to be the #1 team in that region, only to find out that a team seeded lower had home court advantage.
  11. Honestly, I wouldn't care who the opponent would be. I'll even take the #1 team in the country, IF IT MEANS WE CAN PLAY OUR FIRST ROUND GAME 2 HOURS FROM HOME !!!!!
  12. I felt like it was a repeat of the Notre Dame game in many ways also. It's not that often that we miss so many uncontested shots in a game.
  13. I said this in another thread, but will repeat it again. I trust that KD knows that he's doing, and can do this better than the rest of us. At the same time, this is a sports fan forum, and questioning coaching decisions will be a part of that, no matter how well the team is playing. As I said earlier, playing Zeke and Treadwell together is very risky. Right now, Treadwell is Zeke's replacement on the floor. Burn too many of Treadwell's minutes, and Zeke gets in foul trouble, and we're in a real pickle. Until we can develop another capable big man, I don't see that changing. Speaking of Zeke, when he picked up that 3rd foul early in the 2nd half, he did a great job of playing until the next normal rotation without another foul. It may have been a gamble for us, but this was not the kind of game where we could have afforded to sit Zeke, and play Treadwell for extended minutes because of the way they were rebounding against us. The lack of fresh bodies in teh frontcourt could have turned that into a 25 rebound advantage for ORU.
  14. I liked this post, Dave. And since he launched a 3 last night, it would seem evident that he has not beein told to stop shooting 3-pointers.
  15. Umm. They needed to fill up some programming maybe? Do you really believe that they sat together in a programming meeting at some point and decided that they really justd wanted to start giving more exposure to the Akron Zips ? You're being extremely naive if you haven't paid attention to the history of how Cleveland looks at Akron. I'll repeat this again: When something good happens in Akron, it happened in "The Greater Cleveland area". But, when something good happens in Cleveland, it belongs to CLEVELAND.
  16. The 3 point shooting was bad, but ORU was equally as terrible. Getting the crap beat out of us on the glass really sticks out at me as the culprit today.
  17. Just for reference purposes, how much would we have risen had we beaten ORU ? Because, that was really out last chance to make any meaningful jump in RPI since every team we play the remainder of the year would have somewhat-lower to much-lower RPIs. I still see an ORU win as only keeping extremely remote chances of an At-Large bid alive.
  18. Officially, at least. Our odds of an at large bid before this game: 20 to 1 Our chances now: Zero
  19. You are right, but that's not what I am saying. Unless someone can correct me, there is only one auto qualifier. That automatic NIT bid does not get "handed down" to the next team if the regular season champ wins the MAC tournament. Anyone else other than the regular season champ would essentially be a subjective "at-large" pick.
  20. Let me make 2 comments here. 1) I trust that Keith sees more than we see, and knows more than we know. If I had his ability, I would have gotten rich in coaching, and I didn't. 2) Fans are going to question and criticize coaching decision, no matter how well things are going. Telling people to stop doing it is ridiculous.
  21. Let me point out a couple of things here: 1) Does anyone realize that we have never won the MAC title and secured that NIT bid? Lets finally get it. It's a great backup plan. 2) I don't think the NIT bid is handed to the 2nd place team if the #1 seed wins the MAC tourney. I think the NIT only has an automatic bid obligation to the regular season champ.
  22. I don't really think there's much of a difference in interest between OU and Miami. One game was a Saturday, and the other was a Wednesday.
  23. It was right after the techinical was called on that Miami player after he and Alex got in a little altercation. Quncy was standing on that side of the floor near the Miami bench as the refs were sorting everything out, and Charlie was pointing his finger and yelling at him looking like his head was going to pop off. It lasted a little while. Quincy seemed to turn away and laugh. And that was right before Charlie got nose to nose with the official. I just wonder what that was all about. Yes, Quincy was watching #14 like a HAWK in the 2nd half.
  24. Of course. If we don't win the MAC tourney, why would we want anyone to just give us an NCAA tournament bid ?
  25. Let me repeat the last line of my post again: He Tweets about the Zips, congratulates them on wins, talks about working out with their team and hanging out with thier coach, etc., and MILLIONS of people see it. We can't buy that kind of publicity. Ever.
