  1. At first, I thought Hughes and Robotham were just firing each other up, but the 2nd time I saw it, they were clearly yelling at each other. It's a miracle we're down 6 shooting 0 for 11 from long range. I really just think we're rushing those shots with the way they can defend the perimeter.
  2. We do our part. My wife takes pictures of them and posts them on her Facebook page.
  3. Debating how many of those 26,000 are indeed "too lazy" would certainly require it's own thread.
  4. Suuuuuuuure.
  5. That's funny. It further reminds me just how numerous and ridiculous some of excuses have become. But lets add this anyway. Spokane Washington is just as large as Akron, so I would assume that they have their share of commuters as well.
  6. I agree with you 100% on this. My post was related to those who come on here contending that students don't have time to attend athletic events today. It sure seems like Gonzaga (the size of a large high school) has plenty of students who aren't buried in studies and working 3 jobs on game nights. Edit: They actually only have 5,000 undergrads.
  7. Correct. I don't have an equal comparison. Akron - 26,000 students Gonzaga - 7,000 students I don't remember if you were a part of the "students don't have time to go to athletic events in today's era" argument. But if you were, feel free to repeat it again here.
  8. Building Block? This is the kind of Win that could make the difference between IN or OUT. Or, if we're already in, it's the kind of win that could make a difference of a couple of spots in seeding. I like how the article points out that scheduling these games are "a necessity to build a program that has respect nationwide". That's right on the money. That should always be our ultimate goal.
  9. This got me thinking. Akron and Gonzaga are both "non-power" D-1 programs that have won a lot of games consistently for many, many years. But Gonzaga has roughly only 1/4 of Akron's enrollment. Yet, this video doesn't seem to paint a picture of "college students today don't have as much free time as they did in 19__", or "students can't make it to games today because they all have to work 3 jobs", etc.
  10. As they are analyzing the Washington/Gonzaga game, I'm astounded that Washington lost by 27, but grabbed 29 Offensive rebounds. That really seems unbelievable. This article talked alot about rebounding. Stating how we outrebounded Coppin State by a huge margin, but how Gonzaga didn't rebound well against Washington. That's not really a good comparison. But, it seems to imply that Akron might be a good rebounding team, and Gonzaga a poor one. I don't think that's the way it will go in this game. But if we really do beat Gonzaga on the boards, we would really turn a corner since I see that as a weak area for us with the personnel we have this year.
  11. I think we should have one of those by OUR campus. Send us the franchise information. Thanks for sharing
  12. Sometimes I'm just amazed that the fans find information before the school. I bet that's what happened here.
  13. Thanks for doing that work for us. I hope you got accurate information. Edit: Is it just a coincidence that right after you went to all of this work to find out the video feed that I noticed that the U of A website listed the same thing? Funny.
  14. This is funny... I usually don't pay attention to a lot of the recruiting threads, unless I know the player who's being discussed. But, I saw the highlights of the Chiefs/Raiders game, and was wondering why his name sounded so familiar to me. I had no idea why......until I logged into Zips Nation this morning. Mystery Solved
  15. I will say this. For well over a decade now, we've been clamoring for Keith to get some ATHLETES in here. Back years ago, when Kent was the team we were chasing, we got "out-athleted" many times. And many of those guys weren't good basketball players. But they could run, block shots, tip in ORBs, jump over people to keep rebounds alive, etc. These guys fill a void for us that's existed for years. He still has time to develop basketball skills, and I bet that this staff works on that with him daily. Lets be honest. If this guy was the whole package. If he had that athleticism with some solid basketball skills, he'd probably be at somewhere more of Kentucky's level right now, and not Akron's. His basketball skills are a project. And by the way the coaches talk, they expected that situation with him. If I have any immediate concern with him right now, it's that he is incredibly thin and playing close to the basket all the time. A guy like Marcel Boyce played a lot on the perimeter and didn't take that constant pounding. That might hinder his ability to fill the role we need him to fill more than anything else. I just don't think his "basketball skills" are keeping him from helping us in ways where we need his help.
  16. Maybe their students will chant "Akron Is In Canada" and "U-S-A" when we take the floor.
  17. Over the Dambrot years, I don't think I have ever heard "Akron" and "quick and athletic" together in the same statement. They have to be referring to Antino and Jimond.
  18. I'll turn on the radio, and hope I don't hear too much of Frenchy saying "ho-ly cow" or "You gotta be kidding me".
  19. Yep, they left early this morning. I hope the extra time up there helps.
  20. We didn't lose at home at all last year, so it's starting to climb. I think I had heard that we're starting to approach the record that was set back somewhere in the 06-08 period where we got somewhere in the area of about 30 in a row?
  21. Yep. So does everyone else I know, ever since he first arrived here.
  22. I wonder how many of those people actually stayed. As Clark said above, he has two shirts in the 5 years that he's been a season ticket holder. Big mistake announcing to people that they would be throwing out 1,000 shirts to those in the stands 15 min. before gametime, and everyone noticed that there wasn't even close to this amount.
  23. I was waiting for someone else to comment on this. My guess was actually that they threw out closer to 200 shirts. Heck, there wasn't even 1,000 people in the Arena when they threw them out, and most people didn't get one.
  24. Amen. You put someone in the Top 5 at the start of the year, and it's nearly impossible for them to NOT make the playoff, unless they have two losses. Even with one loss, they won't drop far, and will move back up again once someone else losses. Meanwhile, anyone else that started outside of the rankings, you make it impossible for them to get there.
  25. Maybe he'll follow a few other former MAC coaches, and go to the graveyard of "power conference" coaching.....the bottom half of the Big 10.
