The only time I recall the "staff reporter" was at Away games.
-
Since we appear to have lost our dedicated coverage from their writing staff, I'm curious if they've given the same treatment to the school that's 2 hours way as they have to the school in their own backyard?
-
I'm not well informed on the graduation rates or transfers. I was just pointing out that when you have small classes of incoming freshman, it affects you every year until that class is gone, and another new freshman class replaces them.
-
I agree that Ivey's been quite a surprise. I'm enjoying watching him play. For any team, going with a small lineup is an option, if the situation dictates. I guess we saw that situation last night. I didn't notice. I wish I did.
-
At last count, I think we're supposed to be returning 10 starters on offense, and 6 on defense. So, I agree with you that we should have a good team coming back. So, why would you also state that you think we have 2-3 bad years ahead of us?

It's amazing how many times in this thread that people are proclaiming that OU sucks. If I had the time, I'd go back and see how many of the same people spent the last couple of week posting about how OU was so superior to us, and we were going to get destroyed.

Year after year, we have Guards who can't stop a dribble drive. Nothing much ever changes. Ivey at least has the athletic ability to challenge the shot. Josh does not. But what really made me want to respond to your post is that it's even being discussed that Josh might be getting asked to fill the role of a SF.

Unfortunately, because of the numbers that are already in place, "stabilizing" may mean nothing more than putting small dents in huge multi-million dollar losses that are going to continue to repeat every year. The alarming figure for me right now is that Freshman Full-Time classes are significantly reduced. That class will enter year 2, year 3, and year 4 as significantly small classes as well. And unless next year's Freshman class increases incredibly, those numbers will also translate into year 2,3 and 4 as well. These are basically fixed numbers that can't really be impacted significantly until those classes graduate, and a new freshman class replaces them It's going to take a long time to fix this mess.

That is a pretty amazing stat. I think we've been very content for a long time with allowing some big guys in the post to bring the defense in, and spread the floor and take the 3s with everyone else. And every new generation seems to follow that formula. I think our coaches and players have gotten pretty accustomed to it, whether we like it or not. But I do think that both Jimond and Antino can get into the lane and score, or create plays. Jimond can finish. Antino might be more of a creator than a scorer in the paint. But those two guys have a chance to do some things that make us not so reliant on that "inside back out" attack.

1) I hope the bright spot we can take out of this game is that our Defense has finally grown up. 2) If Chapman was truly ready to play, I'd say it's very puzzling why we'd go with Goodman. 3) I think JoJo should have caught that ball. it was right in his two hands, right in front of him, and he bobbled it pulling it against himself. That's what I think I saw.

With many 4+ hour games these days, and this being ESPNU, I'm hoping that they are barely past halftime when the basketball game ends.

BJ will score on our guards, for sure. But, I wonder if Keith will change lineups just for the purpose of guarding him?

Here's to hoping your dream comes true.

US Soccer parts ways with Jurgen Klinsmann

I'd love to see Caleb coach the national team. That would be great publicity for the U of A, and they should go with the best coach available, and not the guy who might seem like he's the best transition from the old coach. Caleb would do a super job, regardless of the situation. Hire him. -
Being respectful? Or telling the world how excited you are about it? How are any of us to know?
-
Why am I just a little uneasy when I see you guys talking about someone who appears to be excited about getting offers from I-AA schools?
-
Blue and Gold. I agree with you about most of what you said about BJ. I hope you're right that his two teammates shouldn't scare us. But if BJ is a Senior now, and there's 2 guys that are that much better than him, I think those 2 guys might really be worth watching. What I really hope to see is a repeat of Sunday on the defensive end. Keith has certainly been clamping down on these guys about defense, and I think I saw some real commitment from our guys that will hopefully continue.

Alright. There we go again. There's nearly 4 months of exciting basketball to enjoy between now and mid-March. These are not warmup or practice games. Enjoy the season !!!!
-
Sure. It was definitely a brief situational thing. But it also doesn't rule out the possibility in the future, like I indicated.

Give me that inspired win, like we had against Toledo to end the season a few years ago. Regardless of the circumstances this year, we are going to completely lose all the momentum we've had as a program, in the eyes of the fans, if we go 5-7 with no postseason play, and go into next season riding a 4 game losing streak.

I'm wondering what everyone thinks about the attendants collecting $5 at the Rt. 8 parking deck last night. Is that just for these "tournament games", or is this something new for the rest of the season? This didn't happen on Thursday. And it's never happened before. I don't give a damn about the $5. But, it caused an unbelievable problem with traffic flow getting into the deck. DO NOT try to make a left turn into either entrance. It's impossible with the line of traffic sitting there waiting to pay.

That was a perfect opportunity to use GOLD inside of those blue outlined numbers, just like the current soccer jerseys. It would have looked awesome. Unfortunately, that wouldn't have helped that Script Akron that's difficult to read also, even sitting less that 10 rows from the floor. I guess I need to start wearing my glasses to the game. Something I've never done before. It's puzzling why the visual problem from any kind of distance wasn't discovered before we went with this design.

Who knows. Maybe he will end up playing closer to the basket. He has the tools to make him that versatile, including grabbing 5 boards in only 9 minutes of play last night. But his 190 lbs. isn't going to cut it.
-
I didn't think anyone else would have noticed that. Poke and Kwan were the only frontcourt players on the floor at one time, and Poke was guarding their center. I know the guy is 6'-8", and can get off the floor, but I was still pretty surprised when I saw that, even though it was only for a short time.
-
They really want to get these guys involved. But right now, they look to be something like 11 and 12 in the rotation? I hope this is the beginning of that changing. I know this may have already been talked to death, but we're playing without a Wing/SF, for the most part. It's either 3 guards (starters), or 2 guards with Ivey. Aaron Jackson appears to be getting the most minutes after that, but those are bench minutes, and I don't believe he's the answer there. I'm definitely with those of you who really want to see Utomi or Poke move up very quickly.
