  1. Remember that one Frankenstein-looking guy played there recently? And then transferred out to a bigger school?
  2. Someone here gave me a copy of this a couple of years ago, and I still had it. Enjoy!! I remember last year that someone at the U brought it out of the mothballs for a couple of games, and played it about 10 min. before gametime. Zippy Video.mp4
  3. Nice Job I remember your story about making him wear the Akron jersey if he lost the bet.
  4. For the record, I haven't gotten a t-shirt yet this season sitting in the heart of the lower level. And I also have more than I can count, so I wouldn't complain. But, my wife and I notice that they do tend to target the kids. So, they should go up to the upper level and get them to the kids up there. Those are the people that need to be nurtured into becoming future ticket holders and donors. That would be a great goal to reach with a promotion. Not stack the upper shelf of every diehard fans' closets with their 30th Akron t-shirt.
  5. I agree. Kent got that game on Oct. 1st last year. I'd die to get them that early at our place.
  6. Regardless of how anyone feels about building the stadium, I'm sure the current leadership is looking forward and focused on what to do about putting butts in that place, and hopefully aren't spending any of their time focusing on why it was built 10 years ago, before they were ever around. Even if you feel that way, there's nothing we can do now. We can't go and tear it down and start over. But you may be right that it should at least help us recognize that building an oversized basketball arena may send us down the same road.
  7. I'll bank on that to help a little bit too. But overall, if we were going to have some kind of "bump" in interest for tickets, I would have thought that we would have seen it after a Bowl Win and a 5-win start to the following season.
  8. Mr. Pavlov would be proud of you for honoring his legacy, if he was still alive.
  9. Someone with an understanding of who we compete against as an athletic entity, obviously. That was a well orchestrated and appropriate video. I remember having a friend with me once who is a Suckeye's Honk (went to school at Akron), and you should have seen his reaction when he looked up and saw Zippy clocking the Nut Head.
  10. Ever since Taylor was first discussed, I looked at how high he stands among the all-time sack leaders, and everyone around him is already in the Hall of Fame. I hope it happens this year, but it should happen very soon.
  11. Heck, it took me 5 years to get my Bachelors. Long story. So, I admire that accomplishment. Makes me proud to support these guys.
  12. There's only really one thing that sticks out at me from last night. Giving up 84 points at home. If a night like that repeats itself against some of the better teams in the league, we might end up losing a home game or two. I really though that we had turned the corner defensively over the last few games. Although, I'm sure much of this was affected by the fact that BG's Center didn't get his first foul until 2 minutes were left IN THE GAME !! Meanwhile, Kwan and Dog had 7 between them. Really sketchy officiating.
  13. Great Post. One of these days we'll hopefully break through. I love the OOC football road trips. My wife and I have gotten to see a lot of new places that way, and Madison was no exception. But I have to admit, I've never made this Penn State trip, through all of the times we've played them dating back to 2000 I believe?? I'm planning on finally making this one. Looking forward to it. For those of you who've never been to that area, it's beautiful.
  14. That's exactly my point.
  15. Or in this case, ignore whatever you choose to ignore about how a team was performing leading up to the selection point. Read Marla's article from Sunday. Plenty of signs were there. When you are supposedly chosen as an "elite team" to enter a 4 team playoff against a team that you've been "supposedly ranked" neck-and-neck with in the standings for weeks, and a 31-0 shellacking ensues, it's only going to add to the dialogue that already existed (no division title or even a conference title appearance) as to why they were ever selected in the first place. Why wouldn't it? Not surprisingly, this might be the only sentence in your post that seemed like it was focused on the topic (which was the only reason I responded), while the rest appears to be more of the same myriad of defenses specifically regarding Ohio State.
  16. Correct. And several other reasons, which I have stated. Are you trying to say that I am the first sports fan ever to argue that a team shouldn't have been in a playoff because of how pathetically they played in the playoff that they were placed into ? Correct Again. I'm sure it's in the hundreds. We compete against them on numerous fronts, so I love when they fail, and find great amusement when their athletes attract media attention for saying and doing really stupid things. I also love that we just won our 17th straight game against BGSU. I'm an Akron fan. Going back to the topic would be nice. I'd gladly discuss other things about the Suckeyes in another topic. They are only pertinent here, again, because they were the recipient of a playoff spot this year within a system that's considered a joke by many, many people nationwide. Not just Zips fans in Akron Ohio.
  17. Wow. That's going out on a limb. So, you use that as an example of being equally fair and critical? I think the rest of the country would agree with you on that, and probably even some people in Columbus. You may think that continuing the debate about which one of us has some other motive for arguing for or against OSWho is accomplishing something. I have no love for OSWho or just about any other school that we compete against (and tonight, BGSU will be my target). Which is why I enjoyed watching them get pummeled the other night But in this case, they are also the current beneficiary of the debate about the CFP committee's biases. And they showed on their own that they weren't worthy of championship contention. Nothing I said would have changed that fact. Out of curiosity, if you changed the names of the schools, and it was Kent State instead of OSWho that was getting "slammed" here (as you call it) as part of a debate about the CFP, would you have written paragraph after paragraph after paragraph, for several days, defending that Golden Flashes as well? And Yes, the sheer stupidity of posting "We Ain't Come To Play School" on your Twitter account, from a college "student/athlete", is one of the irresistible all-time classics that will surely entertain for many years to come. No surprise that it came from an Ohio State athlete.
  18. Maybe you're just very trusting that this is all done with honest intentions. I don't know. The reason they are so exposed now is because they make plenty of public comments about why the committee chose one team instead of another. Too many, I guess. Especially when they justify some decisions with a certain attribute, but refute that attribute in another case. But, I just find that it's been pretty consistent that you are defending one particular school.
  19. I commend you for acknowledging that this back and forth is going nowhere. But you're still missing the point. I have my own opinions about why teams should/shouldn't be in, just like every other sports fan. But my biggest beef is simply that the committee clearly changes what is, or is not an important criteria, based on which teams they want to have in the playoff during any particular year.
  20. Washington won the PAC-12 North Division, and the PAC-12 Championship Game. No argument there.
  21. Correct. Because they are the team that shouldn't have be in, and proved it on Saturday. I'm not a Penn State fan either, just so you know.
  22. Clemson took a dominant Alabama team to the brink last January. No questions as to why they got their high ranking to start the season. And they are playing for the title next week because they clearly and overwhelmingly showed us Saturday night, on the field, that they are one of the 2 best teams in the country. Even a biased pollster or selection committee member couldn't find a way to ignore that.
  23. It's been a very, very long time since Penn State got any favors from anyone who ranks college football teams, and that surely was also impacted by the negative publicity in recent years. And in this case, Penn State is the team who beat a playoff team, won that playoff team's division, won that playoff team's conference title, and won their last 9 straight conference games, but still was virtually eliminated before the season even started.
  24. He's bashing the system that's stacked against his Alma Mater, and every other school at our mid-major level. Just like so many of the other "selection committees" in other collegiate sports that do the same thing to us. If you're an Akron fan, why would you criticize that? If you haven't noticed, both Penn State and our very own MAC Champ never got the advantage of a "name status" ranking to ever have a chance to win a title.
  25. Same here. Sometimes, it's difficult to tell if they are defending the Playoff System selections, or if they are some of the usual culprits that are jumping to defend the honor of an almighty OSWho team that just got absolutely pummeled. But it's a great topic to discuss.
