  1. It shows our game on this "FoxSportsGo" network also. Does anyone know how it works? Can anyone log in? Or is it like ESPN where you can only get logged in if you pay for their premium channels through your cable or satellite provider.
  2. I'd love to find something in their resume that shows weakness, but they might legitimately be one of the better teams in the country. I'm actually glad that we're getting them at a peak like this. It's an amazing opportunity to get some national attention. The Bad News - That decisive win over a Top 10 Wisconsin team is impressive. The Hopeful News - UM-Kansas City made a big run at them in the 2nd half, and almost pulled of a road win in Omaha. Speaking of UM-Kansas City.....Has anyone ever noticed their nickname? http://www.umkckangaroos.com/
  3. Well, at least there won't be long lines, or running out of dogs, like we've experienced in the past.
  4. There might not be enough people in attendance to hand out the 1,000 dog tags for Big Dog's special night.
  5. This is true.
  6. Well, since I was in school 30+ years ago, I guess that rules me out anyway.
  7. That's a good point. I see how this surely came about, and why. But, my comment was more about the type of Jersey that I, personally, would want for my Zips merchandise collection.
  8. Just a question for everyone. Although we know that LeBron's name is gold around here. If it's a ZIPS jersey, and not a Miami Heat or Cavs jersey, wouldn't you rather have a famous Zips player's name on the back? Or, maybe no name at all? Maybe just "Zips"? I'm way too old to wear basketball jerseys, but I've always wanted to have one. I just find it odd that we'd put a name on it that's never worn a Zips jersey. And yes, I say all of this fully aware of the LeBron impact.
  9. Shouldn't we start a thread for the Adrian game first? I mean...I don't want to look past them. We'll need to be focused.
  10. Here's the bottom line. It's easy to go back and look at prior seasons and say that making coaching changes may have helped. That's why the more important hires are really the people we pay to evaluate what we have, and where we're headed. You have to count on those people to make the right coaching decisions. I feel like we may have the best group of leadership right now in the 30+ years I've been around Akron.
  11. Woody threw for 268 yards in that first start at OU, and came within 3 points of pulling off the upset. He also followed that up with a stellar first half the following week at Ball State. I think where you might be thinking he fell apart was all of the INTs that he threw in that 2nd half against BSU, and seemed to fall apart. But I am not talking about any of that, really. I'm thinking of all of the time these coaches spend with these kids evaluating their ability, and how they could have been so wrong. Sure, Chapman was talked about a lot HERE, but we weren't the ones seeing them every day, and we aren't the people that are paid to make personnel decisions.
  12. I'm wondering if anyone else listened to Keith's postgame. He had a lot of interesting things to say, including comments on the blown referee call at the end of the game. As Kreed pointed out earlier, we got killed on the boards last night. This team might simply struggle to rebound this year. Yes, I'm sure the 3-guard lineups aren't helping, as we've pointed out before. But having Big Dog on the bench with fouls will complicate that too, as we saw last night. What we need him to do this year might really make it hard for him not to run into foul trouble. And Kwan is really the only other size we have that can start, and he will be taxed also. Hughes could help, but we can't lay that burden on him with so much to learn at both ends of the floor, so his minutes are still limited. Over the last two games, I've even noticed that we've slid Aaron into that 4 spot a couple of time, and even Poke was playing some post minutes. Keith talked about finding the right combinations on the floor last night. I just don't know if we have the right bodies to correct that problem this year. But, we've gotten around having teams that struggle to rebound in the past. Here's a real bright spot from last night: Antino was scoring driving to the basket. I think we're really going to need that. Most years, we've never had a ballhandler who can do that. I want to see it more often.
  13. I think you could really make a case here for the QB situation. Woody emerges about 3 games into the season last year as our best QB, BY FAR. Yet, Chapman apparently won the starting spot, with Pohl as his only challenger. Then Chapman just completely lays an egg, and Woody was still a distant thought. Then he eventually takes the field and suddenly and clearly looked to be head-and-shoulders above the #1 and #2 guys? I'm still shaking my head about how that all transpired.
  14. This has always cracked me up. I think the truth is that coaches get way too much credit for wins, and way too much blame for losses. The players on the field are the ones that have to block, tackle, complete passes, etc., or your team won't win. The coaches can't do that for them.
  15. I already entered a post about this in the Air Force thread, and thought I should start it here. The one luxury of the format of this tournament is that Mercer and Akron just played two common opponents. Mercer beat Georgia Southern by 13, and Radford by 11. Akron beat Georgia Southern by 11, but blew Radford out of the gym. No TV or Video again tonight.
  16. I hope so. I'm just more concerned right now about getting the taste out of my mouth about this tournament, in general, by winning it tonight. The one luxury of the format of this tournament is that Mercer and Akron just played two common opponents. Mercer beat Georgia Southern by 13, and Radford by 11. Akron beat Georgia Southern by 11, but blew Radford out of the gym. Whether either Mercer of Air Force would be a quality win down the road is yet to be seen. But, lets at least make sure they are WINS.
  17. That's the trademark fact from the Bowden era so far that can be looked at in two entirely different ways, based on however one decides to see things. I don't know about any of you guys, but I can sometimes wake up on any given day and feel differently. One day I might feel the excitement and relief of finally breaking past the dismal I-Coach years and getting to another FBS bowl game, and winning. The next day, I might wake up thinking about how we still can't seem to break past the middle of the pack in the MAC, and wonder what changes can be made to get us out of the "mediocre" rut. But I will at least put this "win record" into perspective for a moment... With the bowl game, we played 13 games last year. And that 13th game was fortunately a Bowl Game against a 6-6 team. Contrast that with the actual "best season" in our DI-A era when we only played 11 games and had a 7-3-1 record in 1992, which is a much better win percentage, in only our first year in the MAC, and only 5 years after moving up a division. Some days, I actually want towhen I think that we've been unsuccessfully chasing that record from our infancy as a D-IA program for the last 24 years.
  18. I like how we dominated after being down 10 near halftime. Took total control of the game. Now....I get to look forward to "seeing" my Zips in a D-1 NCAA Basketball Tournament Championship Game tomorrow.......with Radio Only.
  19. Houston.........has a problem.
  20. And this is the culmination of a big multi-team tournament, with the games all in one location this weekend. Hard to believe. Now I know why I wasn't thrilled that we entered this tournament in the first place. Although, without the tournament, I can only assume that we might have a home game this weekend against SE Oklahoma or something.
  21. Well, someone on our end has finally posted a game preview. No TV and No Video. Radio Only.
  22. I tried that too.
  23. It's still not showing anything but Audio on our Website. There's not even a game preview yet.
  24. Should this same assumption apply when you hire a coach who's been highly successful everywhere else he's coached?
  25. No problem. Ok, I see what you meant now. I don't know. If that really experienced offense comes right out of the gate next year and goes nuts, everyone might soon forget this late-season collapse. I hope that injuries played a major factor too. We'll see what happens next September. But those fans who were on the fringe and moving closer to the program after last year have probably returned to hibernation. It might indeed take awhile now to get them back again.
