  1. What I don't see many people mentioning is that the players themselves want these games against top teams. The players want the chance to prove that they were overlooked and can compete with the big dogs. You think that the players that were on the team a few years ago don't still talk about the time that the refs screwed them from walking into the big house and leaving with a W? It is absolutely a recruiting tool to be able to say to a kid that grew up an OSU fan that we have a game scheduled where they get to play in the horseshoe like they have always dreamed.
  2. Georgia Southern and Georgia State are both joining the MAC starting next season.
  3. It seems like it was a good hire while it lasted. Less than 2 months of spring ball is a short time to be a coach at a school.
  4. Funnily enough, unless something has changed in the last few years since I have researched this, starving is the one thing that AFL players don't have to worry about. What I found back then, all players sign with the league and earn a low amount of money (about $850 a game is I remember correctly), but players are given three free meals a day and housing costs are subsidized. It didn't seem like the worst thing in the world for young, single guys who want to live in a biggish city, but would be pretty hard to raise a family on.
  5. Oops. I don't know why I thought he was only a Junior this past year.
  6. This one surprises me. I was disappointed in how little Cam improved this season, but I saw him as an important veteran presence next year. Hopefully this means that he saw the writing on the wall and the young guys were going to overtake him in the depth chart.
  7. Enrique is a finalist as the best defender in the NCAA. Pretty big honor for a sophomore, let alone a walk-on sophomore.
  8. I'm not too worried about their big man defensively. Just like Plowden last night, we can afford to let Mballa get points and still win. The priority needs to be shutting everyone else down. I think this game revolves around how the Zips are able to handle Graves. When Graves is hot, he is as good as any player in the MAC, but teams have shown that it is possible to get him out of his rhythm. The Zips need to make sure he does not get hot tonight.
  9. Got scary there for a minute, but the Zips should be proud of how they finished this one out. Great response after briefly losing the lead. On to the next one!
  10. It is a closed arena game. No fans.
  11. Nope, two men can be bad football coaches at one time. I'm now ready to say that they both suck.
  12. 6'10" forward. 3 star recruit according to 247. He supposedly had offers to UCLA and Rutgers.
  13. I don't think the MAC has said that there can't be nonconference games. Toledo released their nonconference schedule last week and it has multiple home and away games. https://utrockets.com/news/2020/10/27/mens-basketball-rockets-finalize-non-conference-schedule.aspx
  14. Looks like this is getting brought up again.
  15. Generally no. By rule, all sports must be played in the same division. There are some exceptions, but they are few and far between (most involve being grandfathered into the exception to the rule somehow). Its theoretically possible that the NCAA would allow it, but there is no reason to assume that they would waive the requirement.
  16. Its what he has been calling the Zips all season. I have assumed that this is the 119th year in Zips basketball history, but I have not actually confirmed that.
  17. Konata Mumpfield
  18. Ronald Jackson Jr.
  19. Julius Hawkins
