  1. Groce looked ridiculous last night. When he sticks out his lower lip, he looks like an angry 4-year-old. I was never a fan. He's got a serious talent deficiency in Champaign, from what I saw last night.
  2. Wednesday's game in Athens had 7,500 roughly. Over 4,000 were students. But remember, it's a residential campus.
  3. The Deadspin expose was written Tim Burke, an OU grad and a moderator on the bobcatattack.com site.
  4. A blogger and many of those who posted on this site four years ago. Some said there had never been a higher profile recruit in the league, yet we've had some pretty good ones: Walter Luckett (Ohio, cover of SI upon his signing), Colin Irish (BGSU), Nate Thurmond (BGSU), George "The Iceman" Gervin (EMU), Dan Roundfield (CMU), Ron Harper (Miami), Dave Jamerson (Ohio), and Gary Trent (Ohio). Heck, Trent was league MVP all three years. Each of these players had a bigger impact on the league from a competitive standpoint. Part of that is due to the mental toughness that Zeke only now seems to be developing but which was his Achille's heel for the early part of his collegiate career.
  5. The deck was stacked against this kid from the moment he committed. As you might recall, Rasor and others called him the most significant signing in the league's history and claimed he would quickly become the most dominant MAC player in recent memory. No one can live up to that hype.
  6. 2 rebounds for Zeke. I don't get it.
  7. Lumberjack, presumably Mr. Gilliam, needs to man up and boycott fan sites like this. There is no possible good in his participation and obviously thin skin.
  8. A very bad decision by a veteran QB lost this game.
  9. It's clear that Bowden desperately wants (for good reason) to grab another victory or two. If he feels Williams gives him the best shot, by all means play him. Doubling or tripling the win total is an important signal to recruits that the program is moving in the right direction. CMU is winnable. So is UMASS.
  10. Weren't you the one who said Penn State would go winless in 2012? Then said one to two wins max? The OU win in Happy Valley is looking better every week. When the Bobcats get some defensive starters back in the next two weeks, they'll be a lot stronger.
  11. They tried to throw long a few times - including in the first series - in Athens. Even had some guys open, but seemed like Williams floated the ball. Don't know if it's a lack of touch or he was still dealing with the effects of rib injury.
  12. They might be better. Not sure. Time will tell. Ohio did play an Akron that had Chisolm, while NIU didn't.
  13. Chisolm is worth the price of admission. TB has done an awesome job in developing him.
  14. 6-0. 11-1 in last 12 games. vs. 1-5. i think cats fans will take the former.
  15. Bobcats played without 8 of 11 defensive starters due to injury and Tettleton is still recovering from broken ribs, which keep him from running. Winning these games while they get healthy is impressive in my book. Buffalo scored with 8 seconds left, so it was not that close.
  16. I think you mean Steve Coleman. Bassett completed his eligibility. In any case, I agree that the Zips will persevere.
  17. I think you are overstating the Zips' challenge in filling a hole.
  18. Akron can overcome this. The most important thing is that Dambrot sets a standard for behavior. Good for him
  19. Will Fleming should be playing D. He's at least an athlete with some size and speed and he's nothing more than a decoy as FB right now. Never touches the ball.
  20. Tennessee is currently ranked below Ohio by the AP, and Akron lost to Tennessee by 21. Frankly, Tennessee has shown nothing to indicate they are better than Penn State with wins over a woeful Florida, some team called Georgia State and Akron.
  21. I don't think you see me making comparisons. I only point out when a fan denigrates another MAC team without cause. Go back a few posts and you'll see what I mean. I am very impressed with what Bowden has accomplished - just don't want him to accomplish too much in year one because he'll take the first job offer he gets from a larger school. We need him here at least four years.
  22. Some Akron fans have taken on the characteristics of Marshall fans, who must denigrate other teams to feel better about themselves. I have respect for other programs that have accomplished important things. It's good for the conference.
  23. The team Ohio played yesterday (without their starting QB) is ranked nearly 100 places higher than Morgan State. Are you saying that FIU is better than Marshall? Are you saying that the Tennessee team we saw last night - which was wholly unimpressive - is much better than a Penn State team that you earlier said wouldn't win a game - and has now won two straight? Remember that Penn State doesn't lose its schollies until next year; they lost nine players this year, four of whom were starters. Looks like a lot of people don't agree with you, including Sports Illustrated, which is featuring Ohio in this week's issue. Get over your jealousy and focus on the Zips, who do seem to be making strides. I think they can beat Miami based on what I've seen out of the Redhawks thus far.
