I wouldn't care. Stupid idea for Miami, but they have a right to be stupid.

What's your point?

We just spent $64 million on a new stadium. Akron should never have a home game anywhere other than The Big Dialer. BG just spent millions on stadium renovations....why?

The back breaking seats remove any value the product on the court provides.

We've had players like archer in the past and will get them again. Brett Biggs comes to mind.

I don't have a problem with programs like this. They are trying to sell the most uncomfortable seats in the world for about all they are really worth. Probably not too many season ticket holders in GA so there aren't many people to upset.

I was very young, but I remember they had Houses of the Holy, Led Zeppelin, on eight track. The casing was pink and I remember thinking it was "dirty" because there were naked people on it.

Defense is a product of line play. Better defenses can control the line and passing pocket with a minimum of four players. Until we can do that, we have problems on the line. Existing players need to improve or be replaced. Miami was a problem because we couldn't keep the QB from running at will.

I had three older brothers and I remember one of them had this album on 8 track.

Totally agree with you totally disagreeing. Need better run defense. Secondary will improve when opponent is one dimensional.

I'm all for stability at the top. A couple of ways to look at it are... First, we could get stability by bringing in an AD(s) committed to UofA and generating success in some areas (football) and maintaining success in others (soccer, MBB). In order to do this, there has to be vision from the top that provides a vision for what the Athletic Department should be. Second, we could keep a complete failure around because we don't want change at the top. The worst thing that could happen would be for TW to still be at UofA five years from now because they wanted stability. The proof of how bad TW has been will be revealed after he leaves UofA, one way or another, and no other D1A school hires him as AD. We should strive to find young ADs like Mike Thomas. Mike was a really smart guy and one of the few ADs I wouldn't describe as an ass bag. There are people out there like him, we just need to do a better job of finding them. Don't pluck one off the "AD Tree"...find one with unique abilities and ideas that will generate success based upon the vision at the top of the chain. If Dr. Proenza keeps TW around after his contract is up or doesn't fire him sooner, there should be a movement to remove Dr. Proenza from his position. As far as the radio discussion ZipsWin! documented, the caller was an example of the vision we do not need in a leadership position. He is an example of what reading Terry Pluto for decades has turned the average NE Ohio sports fan into.... small minded and short sighted.

I would bet the talent in western Pennsylvania is neither better or worse than it used to be. My guess is the game is different than it used to be and doesn't lend itself to slow footed players, with the exception of a few great players (there are great players everywhere). If western Pennsylvania talent was as good as they tell us it is, Pitt and PSU wouldn't be as unbelievably average, at best, as they have been the past 20 years. Yinzers like to say things like, "Look at all the NFL players we produce." That's great, but what about the rest?

Maybe, but if he does, it is none of your business. -

I respectfully disagree. This is a Terry Pluto discussion with himself. Pluto sees himself as Owens. All of the quotes from Owens are what Pluto would have said in an interview with himself. -
Let me clarify. I see it the way you do. He has a solid arm, but not a rocket launcher. Receivers dropping passes could mean the receivers need to do a better job of catching. If watching MAC game after MAC game shows us anything, catching the ball escapes a lot of MAC receivers.

I have a little different slant. I like when a QB moves and finds an open receiver. Roethlisberger does this as well as any QB ever. As a tool of last resort, he can gain positive yardage to keep the offense "on schedule". It's like the hybrid club gofers keep in their bag. Can't use it on every shot or hole, but it sure does come in handy at times. If the defense breaks down the play, break down the defense with some movement. If the movement isn't successful, get some positive yards. Plays are too valuable to not explore every opportunity. Extend plays, open opportunity.

This program just finished their third 1-11 season in a row. I don't think they need any further negative reinforcement.

I agree. We just aren't getting enough disruption on running plays. If a guy can't get in the backfield, he at least needs to get off of a block and make a tackle at the line. Our guys are too easy to block one-on-one. I too liked the play of the QB last night. 67% completion percentage is pretty darn good for a frosh in what was basically his first start. His accuracy was good for this stage in his career and on one TD he threw the ball where only the receiver could catch it. I wasn't overly impressed with his arm strength, but Joe Montana didn't have much arm strength either. Joe Montana ran just enough to make the defenses respect it and it opened up the field so his accuracy became his greatest weapon. I like what I saw last night and I'm not sure what his starting an entire season would have taught him other than how to lose 11 games....That's not a valuable lesson. In fact, that lesson can destroy a player. I think TB played the QB situation well. I'm sure next year if the QB stumbles in the first game of the season, there will be those who state the unknown and something that can never be proved, "If TB would have stated him in 2012, he wouldn't have these problems." They probably have something typed and saved on a Word Document already.

What adjustments would you have made? What plays would you have called based upon what Toledo was doing?

Glad to see a Zips QB tuck the ball and gain yards.

This coaching thread will become more interesting in the next few weeks. I'm not so interested in who is getting fired as much as I am interested in who will be offered a better job. I find it hard to believe the guy at K E N T will be around after this season. Jobs around Ohio may be plenty. For example, Kentucky either is or will be open....Louisville's coach has done a great job and has ties to the SEC so he should be an attractive candidate for Auburn. Louisville is a ready made program for the guy from K E N T and he should jump at it. Solich...probably not going anywhere. Hard to see the future with the cloud of the Dark Side of failure hanging over the losing teams. Once terminations are made, more will be revealed.

The NBA will be looking for FGs made and not FT attempts. Guys make it to the line a lot easier in college than they do in the NBA. In the NBA, guys are expected to muscle offensive rebounds up and into the basket under extreme physical conditions. Zeke has to show he has the muscle, physical attitude and ability to finish in the paint to make an NBA team. As many of you probably have, I've sat on the floor for several NBA games and it is shocking how physical the big guys play when you see it up close. Zeke has to be able to play like that and score under those conditions. Gaudio made a good point about Zeke playing too upright when he saw him play. I had the feeling DG questioned his ability to play in the NBA because he didn't have a physical game behind him.

I was thinking this weekend about what the Big Ten Championship trophy should look like and I had a fitting revelation after watching parts of the OSU vs. WI game...Oh, how excited the fans must have been when WI's coach punted from OSU's 30 yard line...he should have been fired at halftime. The Big Ten is a punters paradise (ESPN could hire Coolio to make a song to that effect). I stray, sorry....I think they should adopt a traveling trophy like the Wagon Wheel as their championship trophy. It would be a sculpture of an overweight mid west couple sitting on a sofa staring at a freshly painted wall. Each year, the wall could be repainted in the team colors of the championship winner and they could use a high gloss paint to retain the illusion of it being wet year around. Seems to be the most fitting trophy that would embody the fans and the quality of product on the field. That league is absolutely horrible.
