  1. I have a friend who used to rent an office above this bar and ran a successful small business out of it. He was in his early 30s and divorced. The office had a bed in it so if he got to drunk he could spend the night. He used to pick up strippers at the local establishments and bring them back to the bar then up to the office. I still chuckle when I think of it because this guy has done really well in life now.
  2. The Great GP1 would not, but all you have to do is fool are the idiots that make decisions in college athletics. With the schedule the Zips play and the talent they now have on the team, the benchmark for a good season should go from 20 wins to at least 23.
  3. I disagree.Sincerely, Romeo Travis and Dru JoyceDear Romeo and Dru,Thank you for your response. By "anyone", I meant a team with a pulse. Should have been more clear in the first place. My bad.Cheers,The Great GP1
  4. I like the way they schedule too. I know it isn't possible because they need to make a lot of money in OOC games in football, but we should schedule football games in the same manner. Rig it so you go to a bowl every year whether or not you win the league. The NIT is basically like going to a bowl when you don't win your conference as it is a reward for a good season.20+ wins against anyone looks really good. 8+ wins looks really good in football. 7+ wins in the MAC is actually a really good record for the league. Football scheduling could learn a lot from BB scheduling.
  5. What they should do in the near future is do a test run on the stadium. Meaning, have enough people in the stadium to flush all the toilets and run all of the water at the same time to make certain those systems work properly at high volume. Leaking pipes or no water would spell disaster for the first game. In fact, if there is no running water, a building can not open to the public. Have a practice game during two-a-day practices where they can run the clock and make certain all of that works. A meeting the week before the first game with the ushers would be enough. One thing I really would like to see is professional vendors at the new stadium. Volunteers for local little leagues are always too slow and the crowds will be too big for that. Hire a professional company to staff the food counters.Test the lights at night to make certain they shine where they are supposed to shine. At Jacobs Field, each light is computerized and is assigned a certain spot on the field. They test this each year with sensors prior to each season as they change each bulb before the season starts so they have white light in lieu of pink light from old bulbs. And for crying out loud, can we please make certain the refs field mic works properly and has enough volume.
  6. He isn't a priest?.....
  7. While I hate the uniforms, I do appreciate people who really don't care what others think of them.
  8. It's funny you bring this up. College football is full of trends. One of the more recent trends is defensive coordinators acting like lunatics on the sidelines. The bigger the lunatic, the more they get mentioned as the next head coach at another school. I find it extremely phony. Grown men who want respect from their players should not behave like that. It doesn't take long for the players to see through it.
  9. Hey buddy- I thought Meyer should have succeeded Tresey and LO should have fired Tresey after the almost loss to that D 3 team who ran it up on us in the first quarter. do you remember that game ??Is this the game you talking about? I believe Liberty was up 14 - 0.http://sports.espn.go.com/ncf/boxscore?gameId=222852006If I remember correctly, the offense had two turnovers that resulted in TDs early in the game. We moved the ball on them like crazy early and the ball just bounced the wrong way early. I think they had like a 99 yard fumble recovery for a TD or something silly like that.
  10. Former Faust coaches:Bob JunkoMike WoodfordAndy UrbanicHal HunterGerald Carr was last seen at UB, but I'm not sure he is there anymore.Chris BallFaust had some really good young position coaches during his time at UofA. A lot of the coaches moved up into the coaching ranks even into the NFL. Had the University administration even had the smallest of clues at the time, we would not have been stuck in the mud for 20 years.

    Skyway

If you add 1/4 cup of sugar per pound of ground beef, you can make a home made Swensons burger.

    Skyway

That's odd. It's giving ME the strangest urge to PM the great GP1 Even the intestines of the great GP1 are no match for a Galley Boy with a side of onion rings.

All this talk of Swensons and Skyway makes me want to go sit on the toilet.

Are they building a Skyway near campus?

  16. Will this game be on Comedy Central? I went to the game in LA last year and tOSU was laughable at best. Literally, USC fans were laughing at them while watching them play.Yeah, the Fiesta Bowl game against top 2 and undefeated Texas was on comedy central too, right? Get a clue before being an ass. I could make comments like that saying that 95% of the games we have ever played against a real D-1 opponent (aka non MAC or service academys of the world) have been far worse. Oh wait...we got slaughtered by 30+ AT HOME against ARMY a couple years ago!!It has been a while since tOSU has won a game against a decent team (perhaps three years now). The glory days are over. Enjoy beating the MAC and horrible Big Ten teams every year.
  17. Will this game be on Comedy Central? I went to the game in LA last year and tOSU was laughable at best. Literally, USC fans were laughing at them while watching them play. You certainly are a globe trotter. Please continue to keep us informed of all your travel. Two words........ "Marriott points"The trip to LA was pretty unique. I have a friend who is a professor at USC so I had a free ticket and a free place to stay. I have a brother who is an airline pilot so I had a free airline ticket to go to the game. The only problem was a hurricane hit Houston that weekend and Delta had to fly around passengers for other airlines. Buddy passes are stand by only. I spent that Sunday in LAX trying to get on a flight and it didn't happen. I asked the customer service rep what she thought and she said there was no way I was going to get on a flight on Sunday and I should come back Tuesday. When I said "Don't you mean Monday? It's only Sunday." she said, "I know what day it is, don't come back until Tuesday. You'll never get on." My luggage was already on the plane so I had no clothes or anything other than my computer and the clothes on my back. My friend had to come and pick me up and take me to Target to get clothes. I had to use like 40,000 Marriott points for the Marriott by LAX. It was like being in prison for two days because I had not car to get anywhere.I got on the last flight out of LAX on Tuesday for Atlanta and when I got there around 11:00 PM, my connection to Charlotte was cancelled. I had to use 20,000 more Marriott points to stay in the Marriott brand hotel that looks over the runway at the airport in Atlanta. I actually had to pull a real prick move because the hotels around the airport were full. I used my Marriott Platinum status to secure a room that someone else had already reserved, but I was in no mood to search around the city for a room. The joys of travel.......

  19. Thanks. It would still be nice to have some response.
  20. Maybe there could be a function that sends an automatic reply to anyone who PMs a member. Sort of like an out of office reply in Outlook. I don't read the PMs I get and it would at least be nice to let the person sending the PM that I have no interest in what they have to say.
  21. I sure as heck would hope we could sell out the first couple of games. I have a friend who just bought four season tickets because his kids want to go and he is now interested in going. When he was at UofA, I don't think he went to more than a handful of games in four years. I just saw him in Hilton Head and he told me the biggest reason he did not go to games was because he could not stand the Rubber Bowl. It kind of says a lot for the potential. He shelled out pretty good money for a guy who was never really interested. When the weather turns, cross your fingers for at least a sunny day. If they have sunny days, the sell outs go well into the fall. If not, they don't.Now the Zips need to put a good product on the field and people will continue to come.
  22. Who am I thinking of? I know what I saw yesterday and I know what I still have to delete without reading in my message box. You're thinking of somebody who hasn't posted here is a long time, but was referenced by others. No, I'm thinking of someone who had his user name up as a participant yesterday in the membership register. I also have a PM from this person I could copy and past onto the board if anyone would like. The PM was received in the past five days. Doing so would force me to read it though and I could really care less about what I get in my PMs and I really don't read them.

I'm not sure I follow (though I think I have an idea)Has not posted yet so there is nothing to point to, but I saw the user name on the register. Probably priming the legions of willing dupes.
