Offense came up short. They went from scoring touchdowns to fieldgoals. Trick plays on the goal line......

What have you seen in Rogers that makes you think he would be any better? That goes for everyone else who is calling for him as well. I'm not here to defend Jacq....I 'm just here to protect the Zips against the Browns fan mentality of NE Ohio. The Zips will be 4-4 after next week and only have to win two of the remaining four to be bowl eligible and you guys want to start an experiment like this is some sort of science project or something. This is D-1A freaking football, not a Friday night watching St. V-M play (insert team here). Let's not deploy the same logic that has turned the Browns into what they are today. Look at tosu, they listened to their fans (mostly Browns and Bengals fans) and changed QBs and now they can't score an offensive TD against a 2-4 Purdue. Pryor is simply not ready to play yet. Do any of you think that will work against PSU?If the balls are catchable, why does he have to take anything off the speed of the throw? It would seem to me that if a ball is catchable and the guy misses it, we should be calling for a new receiver in lieu of a new QB because a bad receiver is bad regardless of whether Jacq or Rogers is the QB.If Akron can score 34+ points per game for the remainder of the season, the can win three more games. OU, Temple, Eastern (I saw then on TV yesterday and they are horrible and Akron WILL win next week and be 4-4 with 4 remaining) and maybe Toledo can't keep up with that scoring pace. My prediction was they would only win five and I will stick by it, but six is not out of the question. With the way the MAC is this year, winning the remainder of the games is not out of the question, but neither is losing the remainder of the games.

What if he plays and lays an egg?
-
It may not have been his fault, but it sure does look like one of his finishes. The ability to put up a lot of points in the first three quarters with a stagnant fourth was always the trademark of an Owens offense.
-
bigzipguy captures exactly how to lose a football game. Some say 34 points(or whatever we had) is enought for the defense to win the game. I say there are never enough points and loses are almost 100% of the time the result of the offense not scoring enough points to win.I only watched the scoring trend because I could not see the game. When we went from scoring touchdowns to fieldgoals, I knew the Zips were going to lose.

Only if a Browns fan controls the on/off switch.....

The following questions need answered. 1. When the substance bas banned, who was notified at UofA? How did the communication take place and who was informed?2. How are the changes in banned substances communicated to the players?3. Was there enough time between the communication and the test for the substance to leave the body? The job of the NCAA is not to communicate to the players because there are too many to communicate to. The job of the NCAA is to communicate changes to the member institutions. The members then need to communicate those changes to the student/athletes.If the school doesn't have a leg to stand on, it if mostly possible that the information want communicated to them and they did not pass it along. Or, Bain was not paying close enough attention to his communications. Either way, the kid has a broken foot and wouldn't play anyhow.

someone who reads the articles :oIt's all I have left after the other pages are stuck together.

Do what I did and vote Libertarian. It is the only party promoting freedom and liberty. I also wrote my own name in for US Senate...chuckled the entire time.
-
I voted toss up because Vegas didn't build all of those casinos on us winning our bets.
-
Do the UofA a favor and throw away that business card and don't bring up NCAA violations again.
-
His title? Doesn't Zippy have a pouch? Male kangaroos do not have a pouch. Only UofA and U of Colorado have female mascots.
-
Zero? I'd like to hear you back this up with evidence. If NCAA and University rules prohibit the dissemination of this information to the public, wouldn't they be acting with integrity?
-
Isn't it obvious? Zippy is clearly the class of college sports. Using her again this year to embarrass the rif-raff of the other schools' mascots is just unfair. This reminds me of an old story. One year, Playboy ranked the top 20 party schools in America and the previous year WVU won and was not even in the top 20 the following year. Next to the school that won Playboy placed an * and at the bottom of the poll had a line saying, "Sorry WVU, we don't deal with professionals". Clearly that is what is going on here.

Chris Jacquemain's play is obviously suspect...who else do we have?
GP1 replied to ksu sucks's topic in Akron Zips Football
The results are there? Getsy only got us there as a fluke (as much as I loved being there cheering on the Zips, we really lucked out getting to the MACC beating the three way tie-breaker against Miami and BG). He has been lucky so far in that Can't st sucks as bad as army and syracuse, but if he continues to get sacked and throw INTs, Blowing Green and company are going to run all over us.Yes, the results are there. Please see DrZ's post. In addition to DrZ's post, 3-3 is much better than I think anyone expected. How many more wins would this team have with either Frye or Getsy? One, maybe....What happened when Getsy got to the MACC? Why is the addiction for losing so great on this board that nobody can seem to remember that Getsy probably played the greatest second half of QB in school history in the biggest game in school history and actually won the game? -

Chris Jacquemain's play is obviously suspect...who else do we have?
GP1 replied to ksu sucks's topic in Akron Zips Football
EVERY? Every as in THREE? Out of those three, one is ranked in the top 25 and the other two are receiving votes to be in the top 25!?!CJ has a 124.47 QB rating, which will be higher when his targets quit volleying up INTs for him. He is also 20th in the nation in TD passes. Is he perfect? No, but I'm not sure he deserves as many critical posts as he receives. On the UA seasonal lists, Jacquemain’s 1,457 yards is 15th. His 124 completions is 13th on the UA single-season list. He has been right around the 60 percent completion range all season. Currently, Charlie Frye is the only UA quarterback to complete over 60 percent of his passes in a season, a feat he accomplished in 2002 (65,8), 2003 (64.8) and 2004 (63.6).At this rate, Jacquemain will join the two other UA quarterbacks under head coach J.D. Brookhart (all-time leader Charlie Frye and second-place Luke Getsy) on the top of the UA all-time passing lists.Once again, DrZ proves himself to be one of the most underrated and top posters on this board. He has a great understanding of football that only a Steelers fan (well, maybe anyone but a Browns fan) can bring to the board. This post alone should have put an end to the argument. Jacq does his share of stupid things, but the results are there this year. -
Explain to me why we have to win all these things first before we "move on"?Can't we get really good somewhere else just as easy (if not easier) than where we are?I'm not saying we are moving or not, I just don't understand the point of "winning" and THEN moving.Exactly Louisville, Cinci, South Florida, and UConn haven't won jack!! Neither has East Carolina, or Memphis which are the other teams rumored to be going next. Hell I wouldn't be surprised if Marshall and Central Florida beat us to the punch and move to the B.E. first.Seriously, I wonder how much of a helpful factor it is when your recruiter can tell a player that you can play in the Big East.Great question zen. Let's examine this.In recent years, we have recruited the type of player you need to succeed in the Big East and few of them are on the roster now because the University does not do what is necessary to keep those kids in school. That has not changed. If we join the Big East, how many of you who have been critical of JD's recruiting will keep your mouths shut when at risk kids start showing up again and the school has no way to support them? Pitt is taking them, Rutgers is taking them, WVU is taking them, Louisville is taking them and the others do also. Do you guys think we will be able to win with the suburban league teams you guys so yearn for?

How much "building for the future" can we take? A bridge to China would take less time. I don't know about you guys, but 20+ years of DI-A futility is a bit much to take. The future is now. It's time to start winning and get people to the games. We have a good AD with some good teams and coaches....let's do something with it so you guys can stop wasting your money and time going to see futility or the future being built or whatever rationalization you want to come up with. Wouldn't it be more fun to go watch a MAC Champion play and bowl games and games that really matter in November. This whole idea that we need to constantly lose under the guise of "building for the future" is insane. I actually think many on this board have seen so much losing they are addicted to it and psychologically the move to another conference is a move to heap more abuse upon themselves. UofA would get killed in football, basketball and just about every other sport people care about in the Big East. Can you imagine what UCONN's W BB team would do to ours? Yikes it would be ugly. You don't get recognized for losing, you just get forgotten. I know this isn't football, but how many of you need to be reminded that Providence and Seaton Hall have teams in the Big East? They aren't recognized because they are forgotten and their fans stop going to games years ago.Any move to the Big East would require an immediate increase of seats to InfoCision Stadium to at a minimun 50,000 seats (double the size). Where is the money going to come from? Santa Claus? More bonds? Has anyone seen the bond ratings for governments around NE Ohio? InfoCision will be a GREAT MAC stadium. Let's use it to become a great MAC team.

I thought all you division three homies were dead.GP1, I always thought you had vision and a vested interest in the growth and development of the Zips.Your post reads like something straight out of the sixties. Back then, people argued against moving up to the (dare I say it?) MAC. I heard all those whiny short sighted arguments back then. The Zipsmoved and improved. It is time to move up again. The up side is just too great to pass by. Its all about money. Its all about ambition. Its all aboutpride. Its all about the community. Its all about recognition.Come on, GP1, join the future. Please do not change my quote and go on a rant about my opinion if you change my opinion. My original post says the MAC and not the OAC.

Over a ten year period, Akron would average 2-4 against these teams. We had better be counting on them being a big "draw" because nobody from Akron is going to pay to go watch a Big East bottom feeder play. We would get killed in W & M Basketball as well and the move would destroy those programs. I have a better idea. Let's go to a conference where we compete well and earn trips to our league championship game and bowl games. We can create interest with post season play and league championships and give the people of NE Ohio something to go watch other than loses against larger programs. That league would be..........the MAC. We aren't going anywhere and that is a good thing.
-
It actually fits so much of the thinking on this board I actually had to include it as a tag line.
-
You could have just ended the sentence there......I'd like to end this discussion of OSU football with the following quote from Kirk Herbstreit after the OSU beat down by USC, "The Big Ten is the joke of college football and Ohio State is the punch line".
-
I meant this in a positive way. It's not hard to believe they make more money than before. The presentation of the increase in how much money is made could be one form of manipulation. For example, increasing revenue sounds really good if it is presented as, "increased revenue 150%". That would impress a lot of people.

Is anyone surprised that Owens name is in the same sentence as the phrase "lay another egg"?
