Can't State Basketball's New Theme Music

What is most sickening about this whole scenario IMO is going over to the Can't board and reading Dave Carducci (Can't Record Courier Beat Writer) lay down excuse after excuse for Singletary. The way he sees it the entire Can't City Police are just out on a witch hunt for Chris. This guy has such low journalistic integrity I would expect him to be working for the Beacon Journal. He falls all over himself believing "inside sources" that he has from the Can't Athletic Department but openly dismisses official police reports and other first hand information apparently as bald faced lies. Can't State Basketball. Recruiting, playing and supporting felons, hooligans and general everyday thugs since 1972!

yeah i'm not one to think the police are just out to get him. That's a poor excuse for a kid who makes poor decisions. Fact is, the Can't Police are the only people in that city who are not unpatriotic and/or thugs.
It's ok. He'll be severely punished this year. That DUI netted him a solid one-game suspension thanks to that crazy athletics department. I heard through the grapevine that this arrest will net him suspension for one practice AND one game in '08.

The cheerleaders are also required to whisper his name during the half he plays.

I love how Can't fans defend this guy. I was at the OU-Can't game in Can't (free ticket with some OU Alum friends). The OU student section, who drove up to Can't, were chanting "You Drink You Drive You Lose" when Singletary was shooting free throws. A Can't fan kept turning around and calling them classless. I could not stop laughing.

Well it looks like Can't is taking a strong stand this time. Indefinite suspension. Most likely to free up the scholarship for that other felon that they just let walk-on.

(whoops ... sorry GoZips. Didn't see your thread)From UConn to Con U? I wonder if anyone from the Can't staff has contacted him yet? He's already got a record so that would make him a 4- or 5-star Can't recruit! UConn freshman isn't sure whether he will appeal expulsionSTORRS, Conn. -- Connecticut freshman basketball player Nate Miles told a newspaper Thursday night that he doesn't know if he will appeal being expelled from school after being arrested for violating a restraining order.Miles made his comments by telephone to the Connecticut Post. The Hartford Courant reported that Miles' guardian, Sean Patterson, said the 6-foot-7 forward was expelled following an administrative hearing Thursday."In my mind, he was railroaded today," said Patterson, a former youth coach who became Miles' legal guardian.A university spokesman refused comment, citing student confidentiality rules.According to court documents, the 20-year-old Miles was served with a restraining order on Sept. 22, after a woman claimed he had attempted to force her into having sex. He is accused of violating the order by placing a phone call to the woman less than 20 minutes after receiving it.On Tuesday, Miles was in court, where the case was continued to Nov. 25 and he was referred for counseling, which could lead a judge to dismiss the charges.Miles was academically cleared by the NCAA in June and enrolled in UConn for the second summer session. Miles, who attended five high schools, committed to UConn in November 2006.

Tyree Evans???? The one that committed to Cincy, went to two different prep schools, faced three different criminal charges, and was kicked out of Maryland before he even got to sign his scholarship offer? Oi.Not that UA can throw stones after the Brooks fiasco, but Evans is a gamble for them.It looks to me like Singletary will suit up this year for Can't State.

I know Can't fans will try, but it's really hard to compare Brooks and Evans.Brooks had a clean record when he got here as a walkon. There wasn't really any indication that he would have any legal troubles. He was never denied entry into or kicked out of a school. There was also never any reports of him causing problems with teamates. In addition, he was a walkon and from everything I could tell was never really in consideration for a scholarship. Evans has a long rap sheet coming into Can't. He's had at least three runins with the law. He's been denied entry to or kicked out of three division one programs and at least one of his prep schools. He's had well documented issues with teamates and has a reputation as a cancer in the lockerroom. Also, all indications are if (big if) he can make it through year one at Can't as a walkon he will recieve a scholarship.

I think a better paint job to put on it would be to say that Brooks wasn't really "our guy" because he never saw the floor and was only even on the roster because KD was doing him a favor. Shooting at an officer and a few raps for drugs and assault aren't on the same playing field in my not so humble opinion.

I was more looking at it in terms of what we knew about the kid coming in. We took on a kid (as a walkon mind you) that, to my knowledge, didn't have any legal problems. I guess some might have questioned his maturity, but there wasn't any indication that he would be an off the court problem. Can't on the other hand is taking on a kid with a pretty extensive rap sheet. By no means are drug charges and sexual assault charges worse than shooting at the cops, but we had absolutely no way of predicting that Brooks would get caught up in something like that. IF Evans gets involved in some legal troubles at Can't, everyone is going to be saying "I told ya so." Cause he's got the history of having problems like that.

I missed the article in the Plain Dealer but K.E.N.T also picked up this real winner- Tyree Evans. At some point, you have to believe that they are going to get burnt by signing these guys. All of the talent in the world but nothing between the ears.JUCO Transfer dropped from MarylandMaryland signing and history
I know how Z-Pouch loves a good story on Tyree Evans, BJ went out of its way to help out

Ford said he is not concerned about Evans' character or the potential risk involved.

Evans pleaded guilty to assault and battery on a female who was, according to court records at least age 14, but not yet 16.
On the charge of possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, he pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor charge and was sentenced to 12 months in prison...
Hey...why would Ford be concerned about character or potential risk...the kid seems pretty squeaky-clean?

I agree. The kid is squeaky clean. He did his time for the crime, almost a full two weeks of a one yearsentence. It if that is good enough for Laing Kennedy, then it should be good enough for Zips fans.Should prove interesting to see his inter-personal relationship with Chris Singletary. In a press relaeseCant State has announced that there is no truth to the rumor that Cant is changing its name to Thug U.
