GP1 Posted November 11, 2008 Report Posted November 11, 2008 The MAC is having one of the best years in history. Enjoy it while it lasts. The Big Ten is just a pathetic conference at this point and I don't really see it getting better in the foreseeable future. The Big Ten games ESPN shows at noon on Saturdays are almost unwatchable."The joke of college football is the Big Ten, and Ohio State is the punchline" - Kirk Herbstreit after the OSU vs USC game. skip-zip Posted November 11, 2008 Report Posted November 11, 2008 Nice find Captain. "Spin" this any way they want, but the game results speak for themselves.I sure wish the article would have mentioned the Zips of last year, as they mentioned the OU game against Cowlumbus State this year. A "measly" 4-8 Zips team who trailed OSwho on the road by 1 at halftime, and was within a touchdown in the 4th quarter. And that's our 2nd trip to Cowlumbus in which we have been easily within striking distance so late in the game. Once again guys....the big boys are now further limited in their ability to "stockpile" all of the best talent since the lowering of scholarships from 95 to 85 a few years ago. The so-called "lower" teams are getting increasingly stronger because of it. Like it or not. Utah AND Boise......and possibly even Ball State (outside chance)...... going to BCS bowl games? I saw it coming Quote
Zip Watcher Posted November 11, 2008 Report Posted November 11, 2008 Your post raises another question; when will ZipsNation.org go off Daylight Savings Time? It's off DST .. check your settings, you may have DST auto correct unchecked. I think the following link will take you there, but it's under "My Controls" Then "Board Settings" At the lower left.Board Controls Quote
Dr Z Posted November 11, 2008 Report Posted November 11, 2008 The comments at the end of the article are even more entertaining than the article. Quote

ctmjbowes@sbcglobal.net Posted November 11, 2008 Report Posted November 11, 2008 WOW did that blogger fire up some BigTen faithful! It's hilarious to me to see such incendiary commentary regarding what he had to say. In many years past, BigTen fans would simply approach the MAC like a strange but cute little child, likely worthy of their sympathy more than anything else. "Great game guys. If only the ball had bounced a little differently out there, we would have scored only 45 instead of 70 on you today. Keep working hard little fellas."Everybody who even occasionally watches college FB knows that the BigTen is down, and not just having an odd off year. The conference has fallen far from where they once were, to the point that the last couple of years, early-season prognosticators worried that yet again, OSWHO would weasel their way back to the national championship game, only to be crushed, yet again. Sigh. That says a helluva lot about the Big Ten's stature in the eyes of college FB watchers around the country, that nobody wanted to see them in the big game, knowing that they would be crushed by a better team from (probably) the SEC.Damn I love it. Now I want to see those condescending jackasses in the Little Eleven play more home and homes against the MAC. Won't happen very often anytime soon, I know, but I can dream. :gun: :gun: :gun: :gun: :gun: GO ZIPS!SeeTeeZip Quote

Zippysgotagun Posted November 11, 2008 Report Posted November 11, 2008 Utah AND Boise......and possibly even Ball State (outside chance)...... going to BCS bowl games? I saw it comingI'll go on record saying that it's a near impossibility for more than one non-BCS team to make it to a BCS bowl. If it happens, I'll love it of course, but I really don't see it happening. And for the record, I think Ball St. will lose to either CMU or WMU. Quote
skip-zip Posted November 12, 2008 Report Posted November 12, 2008 Oh, I clearly understand the longshot chances of Ball State. But if you were watching the college games this past weekend on CBS, they talked about the way things are working in favor of Utah and Boise BOTH having a very, very real chance of both going to BCS bowls.
