Quickzips
Just as I expected, either outright ignoring us or focusing on the Zeke factor.
ZachTheZip
Let them ignore us. Let them try to badmouth a kid who's still in High School. Whatever. Pitt fans have the most inflated sense of self-importance in college athletics.I've got a good feeling about this game. KD has been holding some things back in the first few games. We saw Coblentz, Humpty, and Nikola make their debuts, but there's more to this team than what we have seen so far. KD said that he has lots of different ways he can play Pitt, from speeding the game up and using our depth at the guard positions, to completely slowing it down and using 34 seconds every possession. Not many teams are that flexible and it says a lot if KD thinks he can use any play style he sees fit.
UAZipster0305
After reading the message boards it seems the fans characterize everything Pitt is about: elitism. Exactly why I hated it when I went to school there. They are so cocky about pounding us and having nothing but negativity regarding Zeke. I hope and think our fans/alumni are more classy this. We might not win, but we'll give a strong effort.Let me remind the Pitt fans that the Panthers have not played to their potential in the NCAA Tournament the past few years and their football program is currently not much better than ours. johnnyzip84
uakronkid and trimmy10, you both have it exactly correct. I grew up in Pittsburgh (OK, it was a few years ago), rooted for thr Panthers as a kid and when I chose to attend Akron, I may as well have decided to go to Alaska-Fairbanks (no offense UAF fans). It makes no difference that BG beat them in football this year, Panther fans will NEVER respect the MAC in general and they seem to particularly take humor in Akron for some reason. I sure hope for a decent showing on Saturday, but it would be even sweeter to play them on a neutral court in the near future.
UAZipster0305
I can only imagine what our men's soccer team would do to Pitt. The woman's team already beat Pitt this season. On a neutral court/field, Pitt is probably still better than us in basketball and football, but not by nearly as much as their fans/alumni think.I've seen both campuses and facilities and can objectively state that Akron's are FAR FAR better.GO ZIPS!!!The City of Pittsburgh is actually a very nice place in general though. After all, my mother, sister, two brothers and various other relatives are still there and I visit them often :DI DO find the football facility comparison to be an interesting one though. Talk about totally different philosophies. Pitt HAS an aging, on-campus facility and decides to tear it down (granted, for a beautiful basketball facility) and move to a shared, off-campus venue, while UA HAS an aging off-campus facility that it decides to abandon for an new on-campus facility. FWIW, I have a lot more faith in the UA model over time.
Let'sGoZips94
Wow, I disliked BCS schools before, but now I dislike them (at least Pitt) more now. And you know they are just jealous that we got a guy who they wanted, who could kick/will kick their butts, and who will help us majorly. But other than that, let them laugh, let them ignore us. I wanna see what they say after the game, then they can talk or cry. LETS GO ZIPS! MAKE US PROUD!

Meanwhile, the new biomedical research buildings are put on the South Side two miles from main campus and a major inconvenience for the students and faculty. This is the joke that Pitt is. At Pitt, the student is an afterthought to research dollars and alumni pledges.
skip-zip
I have no doubt some of the cockiness, or just flat out ignoring us, has something to do with the 30-point pounding they laid on the Miami Sweaters on Monday. They probably look at this game as a practice workout.I personally find the Pitt campus area to be pretty crummy.

RootforRoo44
Is it weird that i think we can win this game? I want them to read this and laugh but we will see, if we shoot well and play that lockdown defense we are better than anyone thinks. I'm really excited about this year, maybe you can win and "rebuild"?

After seeing Pitt dismantle a very good Miami O team that took UCLA down to the wire,I am just hoping for a competitive showing. This is probably the best team Akron has ever faced. They are very strong at all positionsand their guards are killer. If we keep it under 20 I will be pleased.

Because they are really good, this guy is not. I think that you just had a deadline for a story or something and you made one up. Is Ansovald a Pitt fan or a Can't fan? RowdyZip
Ok...I finally took a stop by their boards. And I'd just like to say "Thank You" to Zeke for making a great choice for a place to play the next level of basketball. These guys are hysterical, it must hurt so bad to be spurned by "little" Akron. Thank-you Zeke for giving us the first step in hopefully making this a pattern rather than an anomaly. GO ZIPS!!!
