UA-OU Predictions

Look, I know we have a big hoops game at Pitt tonight and an NCAA tournament soccer game here on Tuesday, but isn't this a little late for a FB game prediction thread to be started? I sure wish I could go to Peden tomorrow because these type of games (late season, small crowd, adverse weather) can be a blast to watch. One can often get a sense, just from being there, which team wants to be out on the field more. You would think that the Zips would have more motivation in a game like this, but I don't put a whole lot of stock in that. These teams are not fond of one another, and that in itself will even out the "psychological" playing field. In the end, as the research of Cap'n has concluded, it will come down to how many mistakes the Zips make. I say we'll make a few, but OU will make a few more.Zips 37Bobcats 30The Beacon has 2 articles about the game/OU, one from today (Link 1) and one from Wednesday (Link 2).Link 1Link 2

I don't think there's much animosity between us on the gridiron. In Akron, at least, we've gotten blasted recently. Morale is down and I'm not sure how much trust there is right now in Boo Jackson. The defense has started to deteriorate in recent games, probably from too much field time. At least Davidson has been looking good in the backfield.I don't think we hit 20, but you probably get 30.

I'm afraid the game may be a close one. Reading the Beacon articles posted above, I didn't realize OU's defense was so stout. Take a stout defense and combine that with bad weather and OU's home field advantage and our offense may struggle today. Add to that the fact that our defense almost always struggles, and I think we're in for a tight one.UA - 21OU - 20

Is this a little reverse psychology Cap'n? Preparing yourself for the worst? Oh, I'm not saying this couldn't happen, but it's uncharacteristic of your predictions, that's all. Go Zips!
Saw it comin' like a freight train.

Since Edelman returns kicks now, I think Jackson wasn't the only OU player making a fine impersonation of him. BTW, what in the world was Frank Stams smoking, when he kept referring to Boo Jackson as making "All-American" plays? The dude needs to quit the 'roid injections already. Doesn't he know by now that the Zip defense makes EVERY QB look like an "All-American"?!!! :wall:
