WHAT THE &%$#???????????

Where Lee Jackson is at one time had houses like the others in Spicertown. Urban Renewal i.e. the Fedshad them knocked down, and the basements filled, therefore all those basements are holding water. To properly drain them would likely cost a large bundle of $.

"I know a lot of you are angry. You should be. D'Ann Keller is the men's soccer championship representative at the NCAA. E-mail her at dkeller@ncaa.org. The representative for issues regarding the rules is Teresa Smith (tksmith@ncaa.org). The phone number is (317) 917-6222."from Rasor's blog....anyone call that number?
I sent the same note from above to both ladies that were listed in Rasor's blog. Same tone, not accusing, but asking for an explanation.

I got an out-of-office e-mail from both. Ms. Smith's reponse directed me as follows (Ms. Keller's said she would be out on the 27th and 28th). I will be out of the office the week of November 24 without e-mail access. You may e-mail Nicole Boles (nboles@ncaa.org) with anything that is time sensitive. I will respond to your message Monday, December 2. Thank you and have a Happy Thanksgiving.I have also e-mailed Ms. Boles.

From NW website http://nusports.cstv.com/sports/m-soccer/s.../112608aab.htmlMy favorite line is: "Northwestern's men's soccer team didn't only earn the right to play another game with Tuesday's 2-1 victory over Notre Dame, the Wildcats earned the chance to play another contest at Lakeside Field. NU (14-4-3) will host fifth-seeded Akron (17-1-4) at 1 p.m. Sunday in a third-round matchup."Not sure how they EARNED homefield advantage to us.

I thought the same thing when I read that earlier. What a bunch of bs.

The action by the NCAA is as demoralizing as anything I have ever witnessed in many decades of following Zip sports. In this instance I have a special perspective, that of a former soccer player. We lost a home playoff game several years ago because UConn could put more fans in the stands. We lost Ken Lolla because he felt he could never win a national championship at Akron. I fear this will hit Caleb hard too. He is coming off two #5 recruiting classes and this next one could well be #1. But if the selection committee refuses to respect the program, he, like any of us, will think twice when the big offers come after this season. I'd hate to lose him because he sincerely believes he can work hard enough to make even the NCAA sit up and take notice of the quality of our program. Today's action by the NCAA says that ain't gonna happen soon. So does he stay and fight or does he listen to offers from programs with better pedigrees and deep pockets? That's scary to think about. We got screwed today, no doubt about it. We should all be mad as hell. Vent all you want but at some time think about what can be done. Here's my two cents:1) Get out of the MAC and get affiliate status with Conference USA the same as Kentucky did when they left the MAC. That may have implications for all our other programs and would certainly cost the MAC an automatic soccer berth as it would drop below the mandatory 6 members 2) Mac Rhodes has to find the money to move the field to its position for when the new stadium will be built. That will require tearing down the tennis courts. Then moving the field 50-100 feet closer to the student center. Next they will have to dig down the foundation for drainage, sewer, electrical and water lines. All that is expensive and not real exciting as donors have nothing much to show for their money. But it is absolutely necessary as we are seeing now with the state of the Jack's turf, or mud. 3) Doing all that, you have got to buy a tarp to protect the field against deterioration in the late season. If it eventually drains well and is covered we are golden.4) For right now, the adminstration should consult, complain and consider seeking an injunction against the NCAA (a long shot). But if we can prove we have adequate facilities near Akron, I think we deserve to be heard. Hell they don't respect us now, so what does it hurt.5) The team has to rally and get real pissed off. Develop an us-against-the-world attitude and use it to feed their emotion. Go to NU and kick their butts. Win against NU and we only have one game stopping us from getting to Frisco, Texas. There the weather favors us with our speed and skill.Behind closed doors Mac has to vow to never let this happen again. I don't want to be him now because to solve it he needs a lot of money. But Caleb is one of those core coaches (Caleb, KD, Mitchell, Engle) you don't want to lose. So even with Info opening, you need to find the money Mac or get Luis to allocate something from the UA Foundation that has money for contingencies. We all know this soccer program is a top five program in the country. If we get screwed out of further tournament play we should never, ever forget it. I don't want to run like Lolla did, but i also don't want to stay put and complain. Our future belongs outside the MAC with better facilities. Without that we are doomed to see this injustice again and again. :puke:

Unfortunately folks, we were warned about this weeks ago. I smell a ratWe were snubbed during the selection by having MSU picked over us, which meant we were "supposed" to go to East Lansing. Now that that isn't going to happen, they find an excuse to move the game to our opponents home field. The sad part is that nothing will come of this. If it were to happen to another school, 90min South, the TV airwaves would be lit up and it would be front page news at every news paper. We'll be lucky if the news coverage goes past Rasor's blog. What I do like is how Rasor mentioned that even if we do play at their field, it will benefit us as apparently that suits our style of play. Also, we aren't the #4 team in the country for nothing. I really am pissed about this, and I don't know the first thing about soccer. I really, really hope the AKROWDIES don't let this discourage them from attending. I hope the AD gets a few busses and ships them to Ill so that they can have an impact on the game. The sad part is that I was actually planning earlier this evening to go to the game on Sunday in Akron...my first Akron soccer match since I was in school.....thanks NCAA!

I cannot begin to explain how pissed off I am to hear about this. Here were are thinking we were finally going to get into the NCAA touney without getting screwed too badly and now we have to go to a f!cking lower-seeded's field because the NCAA claims in 4 days our field isn't suitable. Somehow the NCAA has developed a crystal ball technology and can predict the future.I honestly can tell you without a doubt the NCAA is out to screw Akron in any and all ways possible. Apparently because we are in a mid-major conference and not in one of the top-dog conferences, they couldn't give two shits if we fielded the best team to ever grace the surface of this planet.I whole heartedly support a protest of some sort by the team. They should not be letting this go by without anything being said or done. This is a disgrace to the program, a disgrace to the community, and a disgrace to the sport in itself. F*CK THE NCAA, F*CK THE BIG TEN, F*CK THEM ALL...

My vent to the NCAA:Sirs: Thank you for revealing how the NCAA promotes UNsportsmanship. Shame. The University of Akron men's soccer team EARNED their home field advantage. Your officials cavalierly STOLE their hard earned reward. Shame.Fairness would dictate that if Akron's stadium is unplayable due to the forces of nature that a local alternative be employed. Moving the Northwestern vs. Akron soccer match to Northwestern gives them an advantage that they neither earned nor are entitled to. This makes all of you thieves. Shame.

Mike Razor says to be kind in our words and deeds directed toward the NCAA. Sorry, Mike, no can do.Like a person being brutally raped we should lay back and smile as we are gored. No way. I say go kicking and screaming all the way. I personally usually try to keep the profanity to a minimum. However, I have no problem with others venting as they like. There is another culprit in this debacle. And that person is the President of a major university.I am speaking of the President of Northwestern University. A University is charged with instillingINTEGRITY in its students. If that were not so, then cheating on tests would be an acceptable practice.Failure to speak out against this travesty by the President of Northwestern speaks volumes about Northwestern, its facility and students. Like sheep they lamely accept an injustice and enjoy itsill gotten fruits. Shame on Northwestern and everyone associated with that sewer of corruption. This places Northwestern and all associated with that (sic) school at the same evil level the NCAA hassunk to.

I agree with the travesty of moving this game, but c'mon nobody even commented on my last post. Maybe this is a slap in the face to UA for deciding they needed a football stadium for a consistently underwhelming football team over a consistenly nationally ranked soccer team. I don't agree with the decision, but we could have prevented this with some changes on th UA side.On the flip side -- what the hell kind of sport is soccer anyhow. Oh the field is too muddy we can't play on it. That is freaking ridiculous. Both teams play on the same pitch -- they both have to deal with the field. You wonder why people in the US can't get behind soccer -- they think it isn't very manly and this keeps that stereotype alive and well.

Yep...the "safety of the players" argument could hold some water....IF.......it just meant moving the game to another facility WITHOUT OUTRIGHT PULLING THE HOME FIELD ADVANTAGE AWAY FROM THE TEAM THAT EARNED IT.Seeing this news from NU that they have somehow earned the right to host another game makes my stomach turn. :puke:

Here's the link to the page on Northwestern's athletics page:http://nusports.cstv.com/sports/m-soccer/s.../112608aab.htmlApparently they think they "earned the chance to play another contest at Lakeside Field."Last I checked we're the higher seed meaning they earn nothing but another chance to lose to a higher-seeded opponent...

i agree completely, i think they all are a bunch of sissies for not just manning up and playing on the field. I saw Lee Jackson and it's not THAT bad. I've played highschool football/pee wee football on worse.

How to overcome the disrespect:Show up at Northwestern with more fans than they have.Win the National Championship.Dominate next year.Whether they like it or not, if Akron has the talent and coaching to win, they will win. I hope this only lights a huge fire under the Soccer program and they absolutely crush Northwestern. What greater way to 'rub the NCAA's noses in it' than by winning the National Championship and dominating their poster boys while doing it?

Here is some good news. Northwestern is a joke of a BCS school. Ever see a football game there? Maybe half of the fans in the stands are Northwestern fans. The rest are the visiting team's. A handful of Rowdies can probably easily take over their place. If UA soccer fans in the Rowdies are that upset then go to the game and make sure we win. That's how you give it to the NCAA.
