eguins
Hey I know its 8 days away, but i just wanted to inform ALL Zips fans that all General Admission tickets for this game will only be $1.00. Also, all hot dogs and popcorn will be just $1.00. YSU has done this promotion a few times the past few years and they call it DOLLAR DAYS at Beeghly Center.I figured I'd stop in and let all you folks know who may be interested in coming Monday the 26th. Can't beat that price for a ticket.

RowdyZip
Just an FYI, I just made an lil trip to www.ysusports.com and bought my tickets. Not that there's any worry of a sellout of a monday night game @ YSU, but you can purchase your tickets and have them left at will call for only a $1 fee. I paid a total of $3 for my two tickets. Hope to see a lot of you there, it is a short trip after all...BUY TICKETS HERE

Check out the game and scout out the Penguins if you wish. We have shown signs of being very good, as well as signs of being very bad, as we seem to do every year.We got a lot of depth, but struggle to play solid defense, which has killed us in most games.. eguins
Side note:Game is tonight at 9pm on ESPNU.We are expecting close to a sell out of around 6000 to 6500 for this game.IF we win, I think we may see another big crowd against you guys on Monday.See you then! ZippyRulz
I'll tune in to the game as I go about my activities. Thanks for the info & BTW eguins, did you know you have achieved "Zips Junkie" status and are you pretty happy about that?
infofan
YSU somewhat impressive tonight! Defeat Cleveland U 64-60 before 6200. Could be very formidable foe for Zips. YSU athletics will have live free video streaming Of Zips/Pens game for those interested. But first things first, flush the flushes! GO ZIPS! RowdyZip
Good win by YSU tonight. Watched most of the 2nd half. I guess they won't be as much of a pushover as usual. YSU tried to choke it away in the end, but luckily for them, CSU can't hit a free throw to save their life. I'm looking forward to the trip and hopefully a large Zips contingent. ZipAlumn
This was a good win for YSU. I think that the January 26th game in Youngstown will be a little more difficult than I originally expected. However I think that the Zips defense is a little bit better than what Cleveland State showed tonight.
jeaglet1
Great win for YSU. Wonder if they will have a bit of a let down after a win against a rival like that.
eguins
Great win for YSU. Wonder if they will have a bit of a let down after a win against a rival like that. That's a great question. Honestly we just fed off the crowd's enthusiasm all night. If we don't have a big crowd, will we be flat?
ZachTheZip
Great win for YSU. Wonder if they will have a bit of a let down after a win against a rival like that. You could wonder the exact same thing about the Zips.I think Akron should win this game, but then again i think that about every game. Captain Kangaroo
Huge game tonight. The way the schedule plays-out, it is a great opportunity for the Zips to get on a big-time roll. Can't...YSU...Toledo...CMU....EMU...that's 5-in-a-row! Follow that with WMU...Ball State...NIU...that's 8 easily-winnable games in a row?! That gets "Joe Akron" talking about the Zips! That get's Sgt Zips talking National Championship! This is the stretch where the young Zips can really grow up and start gelling. Getting to 18-9 is very possible. Zip Watcher
Huge game tonight. The way the schedule plays-out, it is a great opportunity for the Zips to get on a big-time roll. That get's Sgt Zips talking National Championship! This is the stretch where the young Zips can really grow up and start gelling. Getting to 18-9 is very possible.Funny to say it .. but even with all the roadies coming up, the schedule sets up for the young Zips if they're able to build upon some of the lessons learned this month. To me it was no small thing that the Zips snapped out of the doldrums and dropped an 11-1 run on Can't after the flushes run to go up 1. A couple of games ago .. the pendulum might have kept swinging the other way.The team needs to build on this. They're finding a balance between having top-notch defense with the McKnights on the pine, and average defense with them on the floor. Saturday I thought it was pretty darn good D with them out there.I'm not thinking about 8 in a row just yet .. but given the performances at OU and MU when they didn't exactly play well .. you'd have to think that by themselves, each one of these games is winnable.A couple of scheduling thoughts:- Against the West, UA has Western and Ball State at HOME. Buffalo has both on the road. OU has both on the road .. and Miami has them both @ HOME like us.- After the West swing, the Zips have only 1 road game away from home. They go to Buffalo and then play 3 at home and then 1 in Wanker county. If this Zips team can keep building an offensive identity without scrapping the D .. this could play out well. The nice thing is they won't be on the road for much in February and early March. If they can get in a groove .. home cooking can keep it there.See you all at Beeghly tonight. Go Zips!! Quickzips
This Zips team is going to live and die by the continued development of the McKnight brothers in the post. If those two can continue scoring in double digits pounding the ball inside it is going to loosen everything up for the Zips, make the outside shots a lot easier and put a lot more pressure on opposing teams to try and break down our great defense. If we go back to shooting too many contested perimeter jump shots early in the clock we will be right back where we were a couple weeks ago. Make no mistake about it, the McKnights are the key to this team down the stretch. The MAC is still very winnable. Let's make some noise this year, then welcome Zeke in and make even more noise next year.
eguins
I am heading up there now.If you are driving in. Tune to 570 WKBN for pregame/game/postgame...GO YSU!
Quickzips
Zips having some foul trouble so far. And they are shooting too quick. Not getting good possessions. Rushing a lot of shots. Good thing YSU is 2-8 from the FT line so far.
Quickzips
I've seen some poorly officiated games, but this is ridiculous. Zips are getting mugged and nothing is called. Zips breath on the Penguins a little too hard and its a foul.
zippyrifle32
i like the away uniforms better than the home ones.
Quickzips
Zips not playing a very good game, but still leading by 2 at the half. Cvetinovic is having a bit of a coming out party w/ 6 points and a few nice boards in there. The McKnight brothers have been in foul trouble most of the half and Nik has picked up the load inside. The refs are making this a painful game to watch. These guys are worse than MAC refs.

Especially Linhart, Chris , Nick, and Steve Mac. 10 guys played over 10 minutes which keeps them rested. Great to see all the UA fans and rowdies make the trip. Unless we see them in a bracketbuster game YSU will never schedule Akron again. Which is a shame but who can blame them. Im an 86 grad and remember when they were a huge rival in OVC days. Bring on Rockets. Go Zips!!!
Hilltopper
Zips put it together in the second half and win easily 67-54. Nik plays his most complete game yet. I think this will be the last we see of the Penguins for quite a while. The Zips have now won 18 out of the last 19 meetings.
eguins
Nice win guys.. You guys are a veteran group that looked so damn strong in that 2nd half. Let's hope the Penguins of the 1st half will be the Penguins of the future. Good Luck in the MAC...
Dave in Green
Thanks for your participation here, and all the best to YSU for the rest of the season. You can't believe how many weak second halves it took for the Zips to finally put together what they did in the second halves against Can't and YSU in the last two games! It's a tough learning process to learn how to finish close games against quality opponents. The Penguins could break through at any time. The Zips veteran players did come through tonight. But I think the story of the night is the continuing emergence of Cvetinovic. I'm pretty sure this was his first 20+ minute game, and I see more in his future. Early in the second half, he was tied with Linhart for most Zips points and rebounds. Once again the guards were cold from the field and the front line was hot. Getting the frontcourt more involved in the offense is paying dividents in rebounds, as well, as the Zips won tonight's rebound battle. It's getting easier and easier to believe in this Zips team, because I think they are believing more and more in themselves.
