timmyboy Posted February 4, 2009 Report Posted February 4, 2009 i have been watching the boards and it looks like rivals has Can't state listed as the best class so far, they signed a 4 star LB out of hargrave military, and also picked up 5 3 star players......... and they are HEAVY on players from prep schools, 7 of them to be exact. skip-zip Posted February 4, 2009 Report Posted February 4, 2009 I agree with you uafan...a 40+ yard punter would be a big help. We're one of the 100 or so best programs in the country. We should be able to get a good punter. Quote
blueandgold Posted February 4, 2009 Report Posted February 4, 2009 I'm sorry, but so far I'm not impressed. Looking at the other MAC schools, ours has to be the worst. If we were ever going to have a great class it should be this year with the new stadium opening. I just can't understand it.If I couldn't out recruit EMU, Toledo and especially Can't. I would hang it up right now! This just makes me ill. Quote
skip-zip Posted February 4, 2009 Report Posted February 4, 2009 I don't know Blue and Gold...If this Rivals info. means anything, we're doing better than every team in the MAC so far, except Can't State. And I'm sure we've been using the "we're getting a new stadium" line for years. Not just this year. Does it surprising anyone that Buffalo's recruiting class isn't looking so hot at this point? Quote

Blue & Gold Posted February 4, 2009 Report Posted February 4, 2009 Can't really hit the jackpot with Hargrave Military Academy this year. They landed four 3-star recruits and one 4-star recruit from that school. Their other 3-star recruit is Jeff Walker, the 6-4 WR from Coventry (that the Zips didn't appear interested in.)I'm still crossing my fingers that we land Christopher Henderson. That would put our class on top - according to the Rivals rankings. Quote

Does it surprising anyone that Buffalo's recruiting class isn't looking so hot at this point?I know the "new stadium" thing has been used too much, I just mentioned it because this year it is actually going to be opened. I am just saying that there is no way those three schools in particular should ever be able to out-recruit us. When I look at the actual signings so far, we look decent, but once they all come in I think we will not be near the top. Quote
Captain Kangaroo Posted February 4, 2009 Report Posted February 4, 2009 Their other 3-star recruit is Jeff Walker, the 6-4 WR from Coventry (that the Zips didn't appear interested in.)He's a non-qualifier. A school like K.e.n.t. has nothing to lose by taking him, but chances are he'll never see the playing field. Quote
tbozeglav Posted February 4, 2009 Report Posted February 4, 2009 I never really thought that the stadium would make THAT much of an impression on recruiting right away, especially this year. I kinda get the feeling that once it's done and you can REALLY see what its going to be like to play for the zips, namely what the gameday experience is in the new stadium, the finished facilities, etc, that we'll see some improvement in recruit quality. Think about it... if you're a recruit, what is more impressive to you: an unfinished stadium that you cant really get a chance to walk around in or a completed band new stadium that is just gleaming with that fresh car scent? It doesn't make much of an impression when all you see is some steel beams and a giant dirt hole. The biggest benefit will come when prospects actually see games being played there. This stadium will do a great deal for our perception by the local high schools when they begin playing their home games and playoff games on our beautiful campus instead of a concrete and dirt shell carved into the side of a hill by an airport. They have always been rated awful. Quote
