Hilltopper
I think Rob has turned the corner and the credit has to go to KD and the staff. It seemed as though Rob would be another player along the lines of all the other Zips big men(read STIFF) and disappear. In my eyes he was the most improved player on the team. Lets hope he shows as much improvement next year. Also lets try to put some more meat on those bones. Thanks to all the players for a great season. He really progressed a ton, both offensively and defensively.
zipper
I noticed the same thing as the year progressed, although I thought he could have rebounded much better last night. I think he was the most improved player, overall, on the team, and seems to do well under KD. Besides more meat on his bones over the summer, he needs to get MAD out there! He looks like a nice kid - maybe too nice?? I think Preston has the opportunity to really develop into a PLAYER and make big things happen next year. GP1
I'm sorry, but I just don't agree with any of this. The kid is an average to below average player for a kid his size and in the conference he is playing in. The Zips have enough outside shooters. We needed him most on the boards this year and he didn't produce. If I remember correctly, he is going into his senior year next year. I believe that at this point, a kid either has what it takes to be successful or not. He isn't going to get much bigger between now and next year, so the development is over. In this case, the kid will never be a go to guy and will just be an average player off of the bench. With Wood coming back next year, I really don't see much use for the guy. Why isn't anyone screaming today about why a senior misses a foul shot to take the lead with seconds remaining in the game, or for that matter, 1 for 4 foul shooting for the game? All of the pressure would have been on WMU. Throughout the season, the Zips proved they were a good team and did not show that in the tournament yesterday by losing to a team they beat on the road earlier in the season. Did they overachieve......I don't know, but I think their record shows that they maybe had a good team going into the season and just showed themselves during the year. I would choose to call them performers because the performed well. I expected at least a semi-final game from them after the season they had and they disappointed. Sorry to rain on the usual post losing a big game lover fest.
zipfan maybe
You've got that wrong, they lost to them on the road earlier this season....
zipper
Rain away, GP. You're just standing in the rain getting wet, though. I've watched Preston for three years. This year was the first time I had any hope for the kid to develop, and he got better as the season wore on. Overall he definitely improved on the boards, although I'll say again he could have done much better yesterday. He seems to be thriving under the KD system. I have no reason to believe that trend will suddenly just cease and he will stagnate from here on out; in fact, all indications are wholly otherwise. It will do no good to complain about McFadden missing free throws. The guy almost couldn't miss all season, saved us on more than one occasion in the final seconds of games, and you want to rag on the guy? Not me. Thanks, Rick, for the great season. You were fun to watch. Also, GP1, your facts are off. We lost to WMU on the road in the only regular season meeting between the two teams. GP1
I stand corrected. Howver, it doesn't matter what he did during the season, a senior player MUST make that foul shot at the end.
