akronad Posted March 18, 2009 Report Posted March 18, 2009 Morehead St. is starting to look like another option. The new MAC commissioner really needs to step in and rectify this whole situation. There is not one MAC that should be trying to schedule games for less than 6 months from now. In fact, there are very, very few high school teams or leagues that go thru the crap that is hjappening in the MAC. Quote
Blue & Gold Posted March 18, 2009 Report Posted March 18, 2009 Unlike basketball, the easier the schedule in football the better. Win 7-8 games and get a bowl game. I used to be anti Div 1-AA but everyone else is doing it now and by having Morehead St be the home opener followed up with Indiana and Can't at some point, we should be guaranteed 3 crowds of at least 25K.This is my leaning on the subject. Open with a 1-AA. *Guaranteed win*hopefully a blowout (lots of fun, vroom-vroom party starter) *Zips score the first TD at the Info*open the Info with a W *open the season with a W (for the first time I can remember) *opening day/night will be a sellout even if we'd play Mogadore, lol. Also, if we have visions of being the Boise State of the MAC and a Top 25 program, we can't afford more than 1 non-conference loss, and can't afford any losses in conference. Being in the MAC makes our margin for error very slim. So the easier the schedule the better. Boise State should be our model and their 2009 non-con looks like this:Septemeber 5 Oregon Home (Nice game! They got Oregon to travel to Boise)September 12 Toledo @ ToledoSeptember 19 UC Davis HomeSeptember 26 Miami (OH) HomeOctober 3 Tulsa @ TulsaNow that's what a mid-major non-conference schedule looks like when you have Top 25 aspirations. GP1 Posted March 18, 2009 Report Posted March 18, 2009 Wouldn't it be a lot better if the MAC just had 10 teams and they all had to play each other. That would only make three non-conference games. Every other year, it would guarantee five conference home games and each team could have up to seven home games with non-conference games. Every other year, they may only have six home games, but that is OK with me as long as six is the minimum. This whole last minute scheduling is a complete circle jerk. 10 teams and screw everyone else. If the BCS teams want cupcakes, let them pay through the nose for them. Quote
akronad Posted March 18, 2009 Report Posted March 18, 2009 10 teams = No MAC Championship game. Quote
GP1 Posted March 18, 2009 Report Posted March 18, 2009 10 teams = No MAC Championship game.Good! The Big Ten and Pac 10 do just fine without one. Quote
Hilltopper Posted March 19, 2009 Report Posted March 19, 2009 Morehead State, Sept. 12. Trust me. Quote
ZippyRulz Posted March 19, 2009 Report Posted March 19, 2009 Morehead State, Sept. 12. Trust me. I don't know how good they are but it would give us a game under our belt before IU. I think we'll probably open with an FCS team at home most years from now on. Quote

Mack will embarass the university with a non-sellout opener. Crazy decision! Quote

That way we can close the old place with a win. Quote
