Man, it's not that, it's just where do you begin?Firstly, it was offense v defense. And since it's Zips v Zips it's kinda hard to say how the team is looking as a whole (at least for me it is - I never know if our offense looks good or if our defense just looks bad, or whether our defense looks good or our offense just looks bad.)I though CJ looked good. I thought Nadir Brown looked VERY good!I think our linebackers look undersized but fast and aggressive. I was happy to see more men on the line of scrimmage. I noticed once that we had 3 down linemen and Shawn Lemon also on the LOS but in an upright position. That's okay by me - that's the same thing as 4 DL.Almondo Sewell and Marquin (sp?) Davis walked right by me AND THEY ARE ABSOLUTELY FREAKING, FREAKING, FREAKING HUGE.Here is a link to Rasor's blog. He does a good job breaking things down.Rasor on the Zips

Everyone I was around noticed Brown. He's a big receiver, and can catch the ball.I saw some excellent throws from JAC, but I also saw some of the old throws where he looked at the receiver he was going to throw to the entire time, and let the defense know what he was going to do. I think we are small defensively, but we looked really aggressive yesterday. Some big hits. I hope that's a sign of improvement.

quick notes from the spring game1. brown is a beast and will be a match up nightmare for years to come2. jake anderson was getting the reps with the first team o line replacing kemme3. lots of 3-4 yesterday. the d looked very fast4. pleasantly surprised by the secondary. manny looked very good as did carter. the second team played well too with 46 (can't remember his name) and kevin davis standing out5. i really like the lb's! was a little bummed not seeing gilmer but wagner looked good (has a nose for the ball) and thomas and williams look a lot more comfortable6. happy to see devo get a few carries. his talent shows the second he touches the ball7. jac still looked like jac8. rodgers started slow and still makes mistakes but played better in the second half. his touchdown to brown was a thing of beauty. i don't think he'll over take jac this year but he's got better talent. rodgers to brown......looking forward to hearing that next year!9. really thin at teok now for the stadium1. its awesome! 2. they should be rolling out a detailed parking/tailgating plan in the next month. they said their plan is similar to penn state and you can expect some streets to be closed off. meaning one way in, one way out.3. asked about beer...they for sure will have it in the lodge. the vendor is set up to do beer but the university hasn't made up their mind. i'd guess that they'll have it.4. est. completion date......summer (sorry couldn't get a firm date)5. one dorm is under way. the others are tbd.......mentioned that more parking will go in over there too (thinking spicer)6. not only does the stadium have a home and visitor locker room but it has a third set up just for high school teams. this makes it easier to prep for games after a high school game.7. first two levels of the press tower are for classes.8. the sight lines are amazing.that's all i got. it was a great day. well organized and i can't wait for the opener! the stadium looks great and this team should be pretty good :screwks:

I didn't get an opportunity to post any thoughts or insights from the spring game until now. Here they are -* I probably learned less from this spring game than any other in history. Too many players sat the game out.* Jacquemain looks to be the starter, whether you like it or not. Rogers had his moments, but he didn't go through his progressions nearly as well as Jacquemain. Rogers will see playing time in 2009, but I just don't see him beating out Jacq.* I didn't notice any other QB's getting a single snap?* Nate Burney acquitted himself well. He's a little guy, but ran tough and showed decent hands. He is Youngstown Cardinal Mooney's #2 all-time leading rusher, so you know the kid has some game. FYI - He transferred from Ashland.* Nadir Brown looked raw, but impressive. If he wants to be a great WR...LOOK-OUT! He'll be almost impossible to stop in the MAC.* Bain's back is not looking good. He's beginning some treatments on his back in May.* Lots of recruits on hand. There couldn't have been a better showcase for them with the sunny weather...stadium glistening...standing-room-only crowd...very impressive.* Evan Laube's career may be over due to bad knees. He sat out the spring and may/may not give it a go in the fall.* Alex Allen is in top-shape. Can he stay healthy in 2009...who knows? He is healthy now, and was held out of contact drills for precautionary reasons.* The Zips changed the Football Golf Outing date from Monday June 8th to June 15th. Thus I now can't attend. That sucks.* If Bain doesn't play, the D-line remains suspect. Hazime looked good, as did Marquinn Davis. But they have a ways to go to before they dominate.* Spoke to JD for a bit on the new coaching staff additions. He said he was fortunate to get Harris, Montgomery and Ocruch on board. He speculated that other schools didn't want them because their HC's had too big an ego. His approach was to surround himself with the best talent possible.* TE was manned by a mish-mash of fill-ins. None looks like they could catch. Maybe off-season work outs change that. I hope so.* What happened to Igor? I could see Rogovic taking his job. That's all I got.

Heres my 2 cents worth, to add to everyones comments on saturday. Concerning the game, Nadir came to play, very surprised. Bronco looks to have taken lead in kicking battle, although we saw no kickoffs. We absolutely have to improve there!! Was Jeremy Bruce injured in that hit against the "Waller" ? BJ said he may have broken clavicle. Keep in mind of the 25 or so injured players not too many were hurt in spring ( yes some were- such as Bowser , Martin, and Torrence- who did play some) but the majority were rehabbing from last year so it may be a plus. Let freshies get some playing time. Im also hearing Bain may be done- lets hope not.Concerning the stadium, we got our answer on bleacher backs, and more can be added in future, though they seemed a bit flimsy. Soccer is NOT an option. It was considered but would have moved seats back significantly and reduced seating. Plus a great crowd of 5k would be lost in there. scoreboard is 22 ft by 40 ft, with a ribbon board running the width of the scoreboard below it. Also- a 130 ft ( and expandable) ribbon board ( that is what the Q has all the way around ) will be on facing of upper deck on east stands only- to enhance the home side experience. 2 team shops- one on each side. Joe Dunn said the wind in INFO is going to be substantial and variable- just like the RB. Capacity will be 30k, with expansion to 44k in plans ( but 1st things 1st!!)

Really too bad about Bain. Rumor is he has a disk injury. If this is true his productive playing days may be over. Disk injuries can be severely hampering. While lifting weights when I was 22 I suffered a compressed disk injury in my lower back and I've never been the same. It sucks and never completely heals.

If they are smart, they will do what Indiana University did=You can "purchase" one of those chairback seats (similar to what folks bring in) and it will be affixed to your seat for the season. Not sure how this would work for HS games being played there, but it could be another revenue source. I'm sure if they bought a large amount, they could get them for $15 per. Charge fans $30 for the season ($5 per game) and boom...$15 made on every one purchased!!!

That must be what they did at UCF... we went to a game there and there were several of those in spots with no people anywhere near them. They were just clamped on to the seat. We thought about using them, but ended up moving over by the band at halftime. I guess that would only work in the reserved sections.

They should do what they do at Nebraska. Rent out chair backs by the game. You rent them on the way in. Let them sit when you leave. No need to bolt them to a bench. They pick them up and rent them again next game. Spectators weight keeps them in place.

No "bolting" at IU. Just latches. But that way works fine too.

I'm sorry folks, but no series of posts has made me shake my head more than this.We spend 60 million on a stadium, and we are working out petty schemes to rent chairbacks?CHAIR BACKS???For another $30 maybe you can rent someone to clean the hardened soda syrup with popcorn and peanut shells stuck in it where you feet would rest

Then don't act snooty when guys discuss the important topic of how to best rest their butts while watching a football game.
If I am being snooty when I consider it lame to get a much vaunted 60 million dollar new stadium and fans only get plain hard planks to sit on, then I think there are probably a lot of snooty people to join me.
