Let'sGoZips94 Posted April 6, 2009 Report Posted April 6, 2009 Not only is his criminal record too clean, but he doesn't have any hippy features about him either. This guy really knows how to travel. I wish him luck in Hawaii. :screwks: :screwks: Quote

Quickzips Posted April 6, 2009 Report Posted April 6, 2009 The Can't State era is circling the drain. They are having more and more trouble recruting these transfer students, JUCO's and bad apples. Geno Ford is going to have to blow that thing up and swallow a few bad seasons in order to get that program turned back around. Quote
Blue & Gold Posted April 6, 2009 Report Posted April 6, 2009 The Can't State era is circling the drain. They are having more and more trouble recruting these transfer students, JUCO's and bad apples. Geno Ford is going to have to blow that thing up and swallow a few bad seasons in order to get that program turned back around. If Geno wants to build a program the right way, and for the long haul (by recruiting 4-year high school players), yes, he really might have to endure a few bad seasons. Building and sustaining a program with transfers and JUCOs is a precarious strategy and is basically sustaining a program with band-aids and duct tape. It seems that Can't's program is finally about to pay the piper, so to speak. In Can't & Geno's defense, I think they've learned their lesson, as they did successfully recruit 2 solid high school players this year. PG Randall Holt and SF Robert Johnson, both of Bedford. IMHO both these guys are going to be very good MAC players. To stay true to the Can't way, they did sign one JUCO - PF Greg Avila. So you can see our future competition, here are their pages on Rivals. (I hope the links work. I've got a premium membership w/ Rivals and it may be required to view these pages.)Randal HoltRobert JohnsonGreg AvilaIt's ironic that KD used to say that Akron wanted to be like Can't (even though we all know that KD was just employing coach-speak to blow smoke up our opponent's ass as he never for even a second tried to model the Zip program after the flushes.) However, now it appears that Geno understands that in order to compete with where KD is taking the Zips' program he is going to now have to try to model the flushes program after the Zips. Lol.Actually, I like Geno. I think he's going to make a good coach for Can't. He caught a lot of heat with flush fans this year, but I think that's pretty unfair. I think Jim Christian left Can't for the ultra-lame Tulsa gig because he knew the duct tape was coming off the Titanic. Quote

The last few minutes of our game at Can't this year, he looked completely lost. They won, but I think it was more in spite of him than because of him.2. Christian left for the ultra-lame Texas Christian gig, not Tulsa. Quote

He was always in control of the game & played PG so I assume he has an intricate understanding of the strategy of the game. But I'm no talent evaluator.2. Here you're definitely correct! Got my schools mixed up. Thanks! Quote

Quickzips Posted April 8, 2009 Report Posted April 8, 2009 Welcome to Can't State recruiting. Kids that want to go to other bigger schools, but the bigger schools won't touch them because they are toxic assets. Honestly, if I were Can't I wouldn't even want this kid on my team. Kid doesn't have his head on straight at all. If he does play there I wouldn't be surprised if he transfers out at some point. Quote
RootforRoo44 Posted April 8, 2009 Report Posted April 8, 2009 One thing i will say is that i would take those kind of stats from one of our point guards any year. Quote
Quickzips Posted April 9, 2009 Report Posted April 9, 2009 Didn't know this one. Out of high school Williams was originally a Miami Redhawk recruit. Since then he has made stops at Providence, Long Beach State, Oregon State and now Can't State (allegedly) and Hawaii (allegedly). This kid adds a new personality dimension to the Can't State roster, if he actually shows up. Quote

This kid adds a new personality dimension to the Can't State roster, if he actually shows up.Dwain hates to leave any coach hatin' on him. So he verbally commits to every school that offers. And, while most of America's CBB coaches wouldn't touch this guy with the proverbial ten foot pole (can you imagine Keith having more than a "Good day, how ya' doin'?" conversation with this kid?), there are some who are so desperate to become competitive they will snuggle up with a porcupine, if he can make a basket from outside the 3-point circle. I can vouch for you about how desperate Hawaii's coaches are. They didn't have a single jump shooter on the team last year, and might have averaged three made treys per game. A guy like Williams (if he were to show up for games, rather than continuing his world tour), could add two or three wins for the Bows -- from 12 to 15 wins in 09-10. Would he make K-ent a 20-win team again? Maybe, but that program is struggling, nonetheless. And WinZip, we might be willing to trade weather in say, August or Sept, when its 90 degrees and humidity over here. It's still Winter here now -- only in the 70s. Brrrrr! One thing that's true around the globe: Quote
Quickzips Posted April 14, 2009 Report Posted April 14, 2009 The Dwain Williams saga continues.http://www.recordpub.com/news/sports_article/4565885Apparently he told the Hawaii newspaper that he never committed to Can't State in the first place and is for sure going there. Seriously, what is up with this kid? Is this just a sever case of ADHD or what? Meanwhile Can't apparently has given up on him and added a 6'10" JUCO that, from the sounds of it is little more than a warm body. Quote

Z.I.P. Posted April 16, 2009 Author Report Posted April 16, 2009 As much as I would hate for Geno to get a guy who can make a difference, and as much as I'd like my local school (one of my alma maters) to have that difference maker...well, I'll believe this story when I see it in the flesh.
