7 Members of 2009 Class are Missing From Roster

Good question. I don't put all faith in GOZips.com. I have said on multiple occasions, that I feel the site is pretty bad. However, can they really be off by 7 guys?

Dillard and LaFrance are now listed. I count the other 5 guys mentioned as not listed. It will be interesting to see if they greyshirted a couple (Couch would make sense as a greyshirt), I am ok with a couple of prop 48s in a class. One guy that is on the roster is Chris Henderson which is a very good thing.If we do lose 5 guys before they ever set foot on campus, that would be a regression from the past 2 years. Captain will let us know but I still think most of these guys are on campus 1 way or the other.Also, I went back and looked at the 2007 class - 24 recruits, 5 are no longer on the team, Brian Brikowski, Marquinn Davis, Jerome Royal, Ryan Simpson, and the infamous Vince Hill. Of those guys, Hill originally made the class look high but I don't consider that a loss as we are stacked at receiver. Davis I hoped was going to play and contribute but he never did get meaninful snaps. I never considered the other guys as ones we were counting on. So to me that class is largely intact.Class of 2008 - 25 signings, 23 of the 25 are still here. Jordan Miller transferred out which I am assuming is for playing time and Kevin Funches (did he ever come?)I am all about wins this year and I would be concerned if all 5 guys currently missing never see the field but based off the 07 and 08 class, retention looks pretty good and I expect those guys to show up at some point.

Thank you for your sane opinion. People are sitting on boards comparing recruiting classes to rosters on gozips so they can cast another stone at the coach is really silly. This season, like you said, is all about wins and not comparison charts of who is here and who isn't here. Of the 2008 class, only 8% are gone. Let's say the Zips average three players per year leaving the team for whatever reason. That's only 12 players over a four year period. Let's say there are 80 scholarships, 12 is 15% of 80. That's not very many in the grand scheme of things. Players come and go. 15% is like losing a little over 2 players from the BB team a year. The numbers they are dealing with in football are much greater than any other sport so while losing 3-5 players may seem like a lot, it really isn't because the overall numbers are so large.

Seeing players dissappear from the roster isn't a big deal, as long as it's not a high number or mostly projected impact players. It's even less of a deal when other players that weren't there on signing day show up on the roster to replace them.
