ZachTheZip
Scout profileWe have offered him, regardless of what Scout says. He's rated a 4* by both scout and rivals. Do we have a chance at him? I had heard that Akron is going after him hard.

I guess this will become more common as the stadium attracts more fairweather/casual fans.I have to remind myself not to get toooooooo upset at them because I honestly think it will take a generation before we see absolutely loyal Zips fans. I think that for anyone out of college already the best we can hope for is to make them both UA and Columbus State fans. At least they're @ The Info. Some of these people may want to experience a college game environment, want to try to fit in with the festive atmosphere, but only have OSU gear. Hopefully that will change REAL FAST. But anyway, I digress. Yeah, when I see that I get p!ssed right off too.

Yeah, when I see that I get p!ssed right off too.Thats my thinking... many have been bombarded with OSU merchandise that its the only gear they have right now thats even collegiate-themed. With the new team shop and (hopefully) an expansion of available merchandise to area retailers, that should change soon.

ctmjbowes@sbcglobal.net
Speaking of clothing and merchandise, I'm in my mid-40s and it is my distinct impression that there are many more people who wear OSU gear in NEOhio than there were when I was a kid. I'm not exactly sure when/how people in NEOhio were conned into thinking that a university that's almost two hours away, one that most in the area did not attend, deserved their allegiance. Beyond simply resenting it, I've never really understood it. I will actually take it as a very positive sign when those same disgusting lemmings show up at the Info wearing their OSU flair, because for UA right now it's more important to gain exposure, to the stadium, to the team, to plant seats in the seats, than anything else. Let the lemmings feel about UA like local tribe fans do about the Aeros. If UA capitalizes and grows the program, they'll win some of those douches over, and they'll begin to outfit themselves with UA flair. Some never will, but hey if they're buying tix and attending games, I'll hate them a little less. Does anyone on the board know how the merchandise selection will be at the team shop? What better way to sell gear to some of the douchey OSU fans than to capture their little tin hearts just before or after a great Zips showing?GO ZIPS. EAT EM UP, EAT EM UP, GO ZIPS.STZ

If the Zips consistently win, attendance will go up but there will always be OSU gear because they compete for National Championships and we compete for MAC Championships, plain and simple. Could that change? I surely hope so, but it will take time.

zippy5
and then, we can have a guy named zipbuck go on OSU's boards and stick up for the Zips everytime they are made fun of. brilliant!

Zipbuck was already taken at the time. Most OSU people don't make fun of Akron though. Most were really happy for Akron when we won the MAC and went to the MCB. Sure there are a few idiots, but for the amount of posters there, most like Akron. Now I will await the bashing from those with penis envy... grizwald23
I agree with Buckzip. I went to both schools and follow both on the field. Gone to games for both teams. There are people out there that follow like this also. I think with the new stadium you will see more of this and the following will rise. Why fight it. It will help UA and people might even be more inclined to send their kids to UA.

That is unless you are talking about athletes. In which case I agree.
