"Official" 2010 Head Coach Prediction:

His buddy, Mike Vrabel, might be ready to retire soon= would be a nice get as LB or DL coach. He might just stay here 5-6 years and wait out Tressel at OSU (who some have said will move to AD role in about 5 to 6 years).
You assume Vrabel wants to coach. If Tressel is going to retire in 5-6 years, the safe bet for LF would be to stay there as DC and take over as HC if he can get the job. There is much more risk in taking the Akron job than waiting out Tressel.
Not that we need any assistance while kicking ass in K.E.N.T., but I'm sure Mikey could help in this regard.

This was just posted on Footballscoop.com Mitch has been mentioned before. He was my first thought. Browning interviewed when JD was hired.Akron: We are hearing that Akron AD Tom Wistrcill is very close with Tennessee offensive GA Mitch Browning. Wistrcill as an associate AD at Minnesota when Browing served as the OC for the Gophers under Glen Mason.
What is "offensive GA" ?
Check here for your answer. Grad Assistant.CK called this one (Browning) back in September.
I always thought GA's were young entry-level coaches. Lookie there, I learned something.Charlie Weiss is now available; there's a name with some heft :tomato: Now the Cinci job will soon be open.

They usually are young, entry-level coaches. Kiffin got creative in this situation to get Browning on staff. Kiffin had already hired his whole staff, and Browning ended up coming available. Lane really respected Browning and knew he was a very good recruiter. Browning saw it as an opportunity to coach with Monte, and was willing to take the GA position because Syracuse owed him a full salary because they fired him when they fired Robinson and his staff. Tennessee in essence got a ninth assistant on staff at a GA salary because Syracuse had to pay the difference between the GA salary and what he made at Syracuse. Browning can't go off campus to recruit and there are some other restrictions because he's a GA, but they really wanted his input into the offense.

Chuck Martin the Head Coach from Grand Valley State would be my choice. In six years, his team has won 2 National Championships, four GLIAC Conferance titles. Grand Valley State has a current 40 game winning streak. His record in six years is 61-5 (.924). He has a 13-3 playoff record. He is the winningest active DII Head Coach in the country. He also succeded Brian Kelley as the Head Coach. Last year many MAC schools were after his service, but he refused all of them, because they were not offering him enough money. His salary is $150,000.
X2
Looking into Martin's bio (link) he really is an impressive choice. It's hard to say whether $400K would be enough to get him "interested" or not. Note, he was also the DC under Kelly when he (Kelly) was HC at Grand Valley.Chuck Martin Bio

Probably already been mentioned somewhere here but I just saw this article on Rivals that talks about coaching candidates at Akron.http://rivals.yahoo.com/ncaa/football/news...o&type=lgnsAkron openingThe Akron job won’t be the most high-profile post that opens, but it will be one of the most sought-after jobs. Why? Because most coaches think Akron has the top facilities in the MAC, while also sitting in fertile recruiting territory.Among the top contenders will be Kansas associate head coach/offensive coordinator Ed Warinner who has done a good job building one of the Big 12’s top attacks. He is a native of Strasburg, Ohio, and was an assistant at Akron in 1984. He also has extensive ties to the area, having played at Mount Union College and receiving a Master’s degree from Akron.Others believed to be targets are Wisconsin offensive coordinator Paul Chryst, South Carolina offensive line coach Eric Wolford, Pitt offensive coordinator Frank Cignetti, Nebraska defensive coordinator Carl Pelini, Arizona defensive coordinator Mark Stoops and Tennessee assistant Mitch Browning.Cignetti has earned praise for his makeover of Pitt quarterback Bill Stull. Chryst has been involved in several searches in recent years, including at Washington State and Purdue.

We need to hire someone who has experience has a Head Coach not just a coordinator or an assistant. There is a huge difference in controlling a whole team compared to either just the offense or just the defense. I really think that the best choice for the job is K.C. Keeler of Delaware. He is a true winner and it is well proven. Here is Coach Keeler's bio http://www.bluehens.com/sportsinfo/football/staff/index.htmlAlso if you are on facebook please join my group I just made for Coach Keeler to coach at UA http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=1909...6509&ref=nf

Thanks for checking in, Coach Keeler. Hope the Facebook thing works out for you. If not, there's always Twitter.

Film study, game planning....this guy might even know how to make half time adjustments!?!?
Ant idea how much $$ he makes at GVS? I would prefer a guy like this to a BCS coordinator.

On Monday @ 2:30pm big Tom addressed the team and it is rumored that the tone of the meeting was that he already had someone lined up. This obviously speaks well to Paul Chryst. Nobody has mentioned Walt Harris, which is ok, except that he has a very close relationship with Nicely and hopefully will not make him a candidate for transferring.

Boy is Walt going downhill. He is rumored to be interested in the Valpo job ehh.. That's too bad. I'd love to see him become O.C. at YSU!

Did you make yourself aware of UA's offensive performance this year eguins? If so why would you want Harris, almighty destroyer of all good offensive things, to run your offense? You know, perhaps he and Shane Montgomery could come in as a package deal.

So I'm watching Chuck Martin's Grand Valley State team losing 23-6 in the 3rd to NW Mo St. Now that he won't be a Zip (to be honest, I thought he was a long shot anyway in spite of my feelings), I'm curious as to where he might land. The announcers (one of them being Ray Bentley a former CMU Chip LB) are saying that Martin is rumored to be the new DC at ND under Kelly. I wonder if he'd rather be a DC at a ND or a Head Coach at CMU (if Jones leaves, which is likely)?

FYI: Stoops got the FSU DC job in the last hour and Ursuline grad and South Carolina Run Game Coordinator Eric Wolford will get the job.
What were the final numbers of the salaries that Stoops negotiated for they YSU assistants? Will those negotiated prices remain for DJ Durkin if he gets the job?
