Odd that Akron was mentioned but not Cleveland.Remember when there was talk of building a soccer palace somewhere in Stow at the same time the Info was announced?I think that Akron as a city needs to take advantage of the less well-known professional sports as much as possible. The Racers are a great success story, and Akron is quickly transforming into a soccer town. I'm all for an MLS team coming here. I think that more people from Akron would follow Zips soccer because the quality of our players getting drafted would suddenly become extremely visible.

Imagine the recruiting advantage that MLS team would have. They'd have one of the top, if not the top program in the NCAA right down the road. They'd also have other top teams coming in to Akron to play UA which is another recruiting tool. I hate soccer (too boring, but Akron soccer is fun because of all the action), but a MLS team might be fun to have. I guess I'm for this!

Don't look now, but Cleveland (Bedford??) just lost its one pro soccer team with the demise of Cleveland City (of Bedford).

Rumor has Cleveland getting another ASL Second Division team. Which means third tier. Not an issue here.Akron could support MLS soccer.Who had the most profitable franchise in the MISL? Set attendance records?Summit County.Who had/has a top minor league baseball team in attendance, despite only being AA?Akron.And the Zips success could be the springboard to reigniting the soccer fan base. (Hey, that reminds me, we have a whole month without Springboard!!! )Being MLS would attract soccer fans from the Cuyahoga County suburbs. I think we can do it.

Why don't we let Caleb build the UA team into a consistent champion then, in 10 years, LJF will seat 20,000 and we won't need a MLS team. Far fetched? Yes it is. I would just like UA to become the primary sports draw in the city, no need to water it down with more pro sports.
