Quickzips Posted January 13, 2010 Report Posted January 13, 2010 From what I saw of Can't on Saturday, two things are going to hold that team back. First, Rod Sherman is not a point guard in any sense of the word. Now you can say that the Zips don't have a pure PG either, but they at least have some good combo-guards in McNees and Hitchens and a pure PG who is working himself back into the rotation in Steward. Can't has a bunch of SG's and SF's trying to run the point. The second thing is that they lack depth. Tonight is a perfect example as in an overtime game Evans, Greene and Sherman all played better than 35 minutes, and for all intents and purposes they really only played six guys, their starting 5 and Simpson. Three others struggled to log 10 minutes in an OT game. That will burn them eventually, probably in the tournament where depth is critical, or in a game where foul trouble (or in the case of Singletary outright ejections) becomes a problem. Quote
