Zips vs. Broncos

Time to move on, folks.WMU message boardThis game is a big one. The toughest MAC West road game, and the chance to see if the Zips were able to learn from their experience at Can't. The Broncos have David Kool, who can outscore anyone in the MAC. He'll get his points, but the Zips can limit him. The real key is to shut down his support. Keep his teammates from feeding him the ball and limit second-chance points. The Zips should win the inside battle with a better frontcourt. The WMU fans know this is a big game, but I can't see them having anywhere near the crowd that Buffalo or Can't had.

Kool represents more than 28% of WMU's offense, so the Zips defense on their big shooter will need to be better than what we saw in the Buffalo game. Kool is tall enough (6-3) to shoot over Hitchens or Roberts. McNees is a decent defender, but probably not enough to stop Kool. Conyers would be a good defensive matchup against Kool, but moving Conyers away from the basket would weaken the Zips front court defense and rebounding. This could be an ideal matchup for Nitro. He's supposed to be a good backcourt defender, and he even has a little size on Kool. Will Nitro get extra minutes in this game to dog Kool and prove his value to the team?

I have to disagree with you on the crowd expectation Zach. The UA at UB game drew 3240, while the last 2 WMU games have drawn 3521 and 4656. So with Akron coming to town I guarantee they will draw more than Buffalo did. Still, the fans and the opposition have less to do with the final outcome than how the Zips play themselves. Its ironic how Coach Dambrot made that comment about how Can't is realy good when they want to be and only OK when they dont. Hes probably thinking that of us now dont ya think??

I think this game will tell a lot about the Zips this year. WMU is not the class of the West but they still could end up winning it. If the Zips can pull off a win at Kalamazoo, they probably can finish ahead of the pack. If they can't, it will be a dog-eat-dog fight to the finish again. And with Toldeo at home coming up and the Bracketbusters selection on Monday, if they can beat WMU (and Toledo), they have a chance at one of the 11 televised games. Go Zips!

17-12 Akron with 10 minutes left in the half.Zeke with a pair of very nice 10 ft. jumpers, and two blocks so far.
I wish KD would have kept him in...I'm tired of Bardo getting so much PT i seriously do not think he's good, just tall
Bardo was actually getting pretty good when he got playing time last year.

He does okay, I just feel like he's lost and not very good at defense. He needs to be more aggressive on both sides of the ball and go to the hoop strong on offense

I agree. He does need to be more aggressive. He looks lost because he hardly ever gets in anymore. Hopefully a stretch of MAC West cupcakes will see him (and a few other bench players) see an increase in playing time. We need to develop them for the home stretch and for the MAC tournament where depth is huge.
